Welcome back! Join me in the Cockpit of the Embraer Phenom 300E for this flight from Oxford (UK) to Bremen (Germany). I managed to get the maximum altitude of Flight Level 450 for this trip, with a true airspeed of 450 knots. The flight time being just over 1 hour and 10 minutes. Even thought the weather was good at both ends I elected to take the ILS for runway 27 at Bremen.
The aircraft had to go to Bremen for it's annual maintenance, and also rectifying a few faults and failures which have recently cropped up.

  • (Stumbled across this channel.) This is so therapeutic to watch. Being able to fly private jets and helicopters must be one of life’s dreams. Seriously impressive.👌

  • Having watched all of your videos, Richard, I’m continually impressed by your professionalism, in addition to your cool, calm and collected demeanor when interacting with what always seems like an onslaught of ATC communications. I’m genuinely amazed by the consistent accuracy of your read backs - without writing anything down! Masterful, indeed! Thanks for bringing us all along on this flight. 🙌🏻

  • Now I am retired in my 60s I enjoy watching the clinical boredom of current day aviation. Back in the summer of 76 I worked for a helicopter company that did pleasure flights at country shows all over the UK. We had a couple of tired 206A Jetrangers that I flew in gaining logged P2 time. I 'survived' compressor failures, chip detector alerts, vibration warnings etc. As I watch this video on a modern jet that flies itself I smile and remember all the hours spent in 'dodgy helicopters' wondering if KZhead had been around back then how many subscribers I mights have got..... #goodolddays

    • I remember the Bell Jet Rangers when they were in use by Irish Helicopters (then owned by Aer Lingus) back in the late 70’s as they transported Saint Pope John Paul II around Ireland in September 1979 and during the 1980’s I got to fly in one during a local fair - I’m 52 now and living in the U.K. 21 years but I’ve always had an interest in aviation as my family in Ireland live very close to Dublin Airport - here in Manchester the arrivals fly over my house roughly following the M60 clockwise

    @PilotLH@PilotLH8 ай бұрын
    • He Lee! FLC is best for the initial departure, however the algorithm on it is not great. You find it overcompensates to hunt for the speed and wallows around (even sometimes wanting to defend at the very high flight levels). So all Phenom pilots use VS straight away after. Not sure if this will change with the new Autothrottle that has just come out?

  • Absolutely amazing job you have, how would I go around getting something similar to what you do flying both helicopters and Aeroplanes

    @isaacridge4493@isaacridge449311 ай бұрын
    • To get an MEIR or an IR-H rating is challenging enough so pilots usually go down the rotary or fixed-wing route. Basically from your initial flight training you start down one path or the other. So start by getting you initial PPL in either a PPL-A or a PPL-H. There is a huge amount of study and flying time to get to flying jets inside controlled airspace. First step is usually going down your local flying club or getting onto a fully integrated or modular "zero to ATPL" course. Either way its 18 months and £100k+ of training and cost. If you want to do it and have the means the first step is usually get a medical to check you are medically fit to fly, and then research flying training either at your local airfield or a full course by an ATO.

  • Why did you have TCAS fail at the begging? BTW: It is very fast plane for takeoff :D

    @FilipBzik@FilipBzik11 ай бұрын
    • It's a fault with the aircraft. Intermittent which is a real pain to troubleshoot. Hopefully it will get fixed in this batch of maintenance. The aircraft is pretty smart as it will hide faults that are non relevant on the take off roll, hence while it failed at 1000ft 👍

  • Just found your channel. I'm curious. I am a retired airline pilot. I teach pilots to fly Cessna Citation X and Mustangs. I've never seen a time limit, 2 minutes, between engine starts. I've never flown an Embraer, but I've never heard or seen of such a thing. What's the reasoning? Thank you

    @michae8jackson378@michae8jackson3787 ай бұрын
    • Hi Michael! The 2nd Engine start is battery assisted, so the 2 minute wait give the main battery (No2) time to cool down. It's not a limit in the flight manual, but there was an FOL released saying it was best practice. I have flown Phenom's where other crews didn't abide by this and they can barely manage a start on a warm day! Hope that helps!

      @richardtyrer@richardtyrer2 ай бұрын
    • @richardtyrer interesting. The Mustang for example has an Amp maximum to do the cross gen, battery assisted start. But that takes just a few seconds for the amps to go below. Thanks for the info.
