Let's be honest. This is the best WC in this century. I've watched World Cup since Brazil had just 3 stars and this one was the most remarkable one. Amazing atmosphere, a huge amount of great games, genuine tactical innovations, nice kits, the best WC group stage ever and such.

When you realize three different teams from CONCACAF reached the knock out stage in this tournament and all of them had excellent goalkeepers
In the last game of the season my sophomore year playing college soccer out starting keeper who was a senior had aa final test that he couldn't reschedule and had to take to graduate. Turn's out that our second string keeper ended up dislocating his shoulder in warm ups right before that final game of the season. I was the second string striker at the time and for one practice when I had a sore hamstring that year I jumped in goal for our end of practice scrimmage way back in preseason that year... That was all the goalkeeping experience I had ever had. So without anyone else able to play keeper, I piped up and said I'd go in goal. Need I say that I am 5'6" tall but without any other options and my coach knowing I was very athletic, I was put in as the starting goalkeeper that day. I ended up having a Tim Howard day like in this video and broke the school record for saves made in a game. The opposing coach certainly took notice and must have told his team to blast a shot whenever in range . Little did he anticipate that I was going to transform into a spider monkey that day! I ended up making 31 saves that day. And although we lost the game 2-1, I was te man of the match. The other teams coach came up to me after the game and congratulated me on almost spoiling his " shoot from everywhere" game plan and also said to me "I did not think that you were going to be good.... but wow! You are an amazing goalie" I laughed and told him that it was my first ever game playing there and that I had 9 goals at striker up to that point that season. Turns out that my schools record for most saves in a game up to that point was 14. I more than doubled it in my first and only game playing between the posts haha!
