Ep 136 | We discover a Roman Village on our doorstep! | French Farmhouse Life

In our local town of Argenton, we explore the ruins of the nearby Roman town of Argentomagus - incredible to think that this has been here for over two thousand years!

We have the loveliest supporters and followers of our KZhead channel 'It's a Wonderful Life'.
We remain committed to provide our content regularly, and of late, to increase the frequency of our vlogs. We have and continue to receive, many kind requests, to send gifts, or in some way help us financially with our channel.
We have given this a great deal of thought. Whilst 'Patreon' and 'go fund me' are out of the question for us, we feel the 'buy me a coffee platform' (or for us, a cup of tea!) would be a great way to do this, especially in light of its ease of use and non ongoing commitment.
Any contribution towards maintaining and hopefully enhancing our channel is very much appreciated, but never expected.

  • That “Willie” carving that Anna pointed out, in Roman times signified the direction to a bordello. If you go to Pompei, you can see more examples of these “street signs” showing the way to bordellos. Crude, but effective ways of showing the way. 🤔🙄😬😂❤️

  • I visited Argenton sur Creuse in September 2022 because you showed it in one of your vlogs. It was so interesting and beautiful. The WW2 memorial was very sad. Thank you for showing us another interesting location in France. It is now on my list to visit on my next visit!! ❤

  • I love anything ancient Roman. One of my most favourite fictional ancient Roman is Marcus Dideos Falco. Has anyone read that series of novels?

  • I was born in Argenton sur Creuse, 83 years ago and have lived in the US for 60 years. This area must have been developed recently Do you know when?

  • The holes on the stones may have been drilled to accommodate the X-shaped grips used to lift the stones.

  • Those Romans were something else...I'm an amateur historian and spent many hours reading about the Romans - fascinating peoples and culture. They left so much behind, I feel like I know many of them personally. Thank you for taking us along - only wish I could see it in person.

    • If you are interested in history, check out the Etruscans, they were the forefathers of Rome and their incredible wall building is still in evidence today in Italy. 😊

  • It boggles my mind with the Roman Empire. Anna, thank you for reading as some youtuber figures just show a pic of what is written and don't share. I do enjoy the restaurants and cafe's you visit but I really enjoy watching you cook, Anna. ❤❤❤

  • Oh my gosh that was so interesting. To step on something that people in the Roman times used must be thrilling. Living in California we sure don’t go back very far. I love it when you have time to show us your town. But I love all your videos so you can’t go wrong! ❤
