As an American, I wouldn't say Julie has a British accent, but I can definitely hear the British influence in her pronunciation in a addition to the vocabulary!
She certainly acts the American out of America very well
I agree. Certain vowels have shifted for her. She still sounds American writ large, but with odd Britishisms sprinkled in for good measure. 🙃
I am surprised she has held on to her American “accent” so well after so many years. Most of the time, people start speaking like those around them rather quickly.
I live in delco outside Philly, n if I hang around alot of people from diff states, even for a few weeks, I do it too. If I was in England, I'd be saying ello govna in no time, innit bruv. Lol

Julie and Luke seem to like talking over each other, in a very comical manner! Julie does not do this when visiting other houses and estates, or with her Father and Mother in law! She becomes exasperated with Luke, and in such a manner that one cannot help laughing at them both! To me, thus makes the episodes so much easier to watch, and ensures that every new episode is looked forward to and enjoyed. Thankyou Julie and Luke.
Julie is such a mother in this video. Her reliving her kid's moments is so sweet.
Regarding Julie's accent. In 1975 friends and I visited Great Falls in Montana and met a GI bride. We were the first Brits she'd met since moving to the USA after WW2. To us, she sounded American. To her family she still sounded British.
"You're not listening." "I'm not listening, no." 🤭 I love the honesty. When Julie tosses sweaters/jumpers on her husband's face! 😂
From one American to another, Julie does have a few words that she clearly pronounces in the British fashion. Over 20 years on the other side of the pond are beginning to show:)
Listening to Julie speak, really makes me question Madonna's "accent." Julie being from Illinois and Madonna (and myself) from Michigan, I hear both the Midwest/Northeast aspects and Julie's hint of British accent.

Julie’s America accent has truly evolved. She definitely pronounces her words much more clearly and has adopted more British words in her vocabulary. Yes a slight British accent is creeping into some of her words!! It is lovely.!! I appreciate it very much! North American English has sadly fallen into the basement🇨🇦.

Yes Luke, we have darts here in the US and no, Julie does not sound British, only some of her word usage does.
Agree she uses “brilliant “ and “keen” which generally are not Midwestern US daily words.
Totally agree there are dart groups-teams in America, generally they meet on a schedule usually weekly
I notice a few pronunciations and usages that sound British, but for the most part I think she still sounds surprisingly American.

I just love you two, what a great relationship.
I have never related to Julie more than when she was trying to get Luke to stop reattaching himself to the old possessions she was trying to give away. We go through that at my house every time I try to make a donation pile. 2/3 of it gets retrieved and taken to a different hoarding spot elsewhere in the house.
Somehow my husbands stuff gets retrieved by my stuff gets thrown out even if I want it.
Enjoying this series very much but I must say that Julie seems to be playing less of a part and Luke a larger part. I miss Julie having a bigger role and will watch it less if this continues.

These clothes are just my style. But first of all, I live in central Florida and could only wear them approx. 4 months of the year. Second of all, Julie is so tall and slim and thus looks much better in them than I would.

I can hear a British accent coming through when Julie says words like literally, all, London, Alberta, actually, always, and a few others.
I notice it particularly when she says "Alberta" with the hard "t" sound. Same thing with "winter"

We just cleared out our storeroom and it was the best feeling ever! I put in proper racking and an interlocking tile floor instead of the disgusting office carpet previous owners had put down There's so much floor space and now even space for my father's old desk to use as a sewing table!

Julie you don't have a British accent that l detect but being from the Midwest, perhaps some of that wonderful Midwestern pronunciation rises up occasionally. Just so glad you are representing the affection so many of us from America have for our British friends and families and the fun and, yes, joy most of us have as we look at differences in language and culture and learn more about history of and current life in the UK. Hurrah for you two.

These stables are so well built! Just fantastic. I find the color of the wood to be so beautiful.
The patina is a bit too rustic for me if one is going to do any living in there.
At the very end of this video I heard you mention Priory Bay in Bembridge ...one of my favourite places in the world ..I lived for many years close by on the Island and though I now live back in the North I still visit when I can ..next time Mapperton is top of my list to visit.

Thought you might like to know that the stacks of red chairs at 7:20 can be quite valuable. Vigo Magistretti Selene chairs as feature in the Museum of Modern Art can sell for between $250 and $1,000 each if they are 1960s vintage. They are more valuable in sets as you have. Wish they were mine!

16 C is about 61F and that is cold for the inside of a house. We keep our house at 69F and I wear sweaters and warm wraps all the time and sometimes fingerless gloves.... But somehow 60F outside feels warm-- especially this time of year coming out of winter! No, Julie does not have a British accent, but she does use many British words and phrases that we don't use here. But that comes from living here for what, over 20 years? p.s. I love all the clothes. But are they British made or British sold? Hardly any "American" clothes are actually made in America any more... :(
I am worse than you. My thermostat is set for 74F and I live in Arizona. We currently have cold nights...cold mornings. I am allergic to the cold. Cannot wait for summer when it gets to 120°F🤭 (🥵🧊).

I would be fascinated to somehow bring each generation to the present, who did their part to keep Mapperton going, and ask them what they think about where it's gone, how things have progressed, and what's happening now. No doubt some generations did/were able to do more than others, but it would be incredibly interesting to hear from everyone, right from the beginning.
