    • No not at all. I think William will definitely bring back all the grandeur. Charles has always been more modern of the 60-70's. William grew up with more tradition and when it was considered popular to be more traditional and classic. In fact I think King Charles is going to allow people to wear their tiaras after all. I hope they do.😊

    • @@MissSilencedogood Extremely and I mean extremely doubtful that William will do such a thing. He has the personality of a rock, if anyone is honest. Charles, out of anyone, would have been the likeliest person to go full 'glam' if you will. He decided not to do it so there is no way that William will. Charles has a huge interest in history, art, culture, historic conservation etc whereas William has idk no real interests that we know of aside from helicopters. He's the last person who would do it.

    • @@Austin8thGenTexan why do you know who all the aristocracy are , the coronation ceremony goes back to saxon times and is very intricate, the aristocracy are not part of the actual ceremony, Charles rightly so has made it more relevent to the 21st century, he has invited who he wants there it is his coronation, he has involved more people to do with the commonwealth , all other religions will be represented and other cultures as uk is a multi cultural society. Other european royals have their own coronation rituals which are relevent to them, I think you are american your country fought a war of independance from the uk, you did not want our royalty, you did not want our government, remember no taxation without representation, which is fair enough, America took the right course, so as you wanted independance which you got I do not think you can say how a coronation should be done, watch it, but how uk and charles does it is up to the uk and charles

  • I think it’s a big mistake that Charles didn’t invite the peerage, and especially, the entire Parliament, by and through whose permission, as representatives of the people, he serves as sovereign. The list of groups to be invited should be in the control of the Parliament, this is not a private ceremony, but a government one. Charles should have a limited numbers of tickets for others he wishes to include. It might be popular to invite one’s cobbler, grocer, dry-cleaner, etc., but that really isn’t the point of the coronation. Parliament represents the community of the realm, through election. If I were a member of Parliament, I would protest this, this is not a private dinner party!

    • Actually, though Parliament in 1701 settled the succession to the throne upon the Electress Sophia of Hanover and her legitimate bodily heirs (of whom the present King is the latest), the Sovereign theoretically still reigns by divine right. This is the religious significance of the anointment at the coronation, understood as the Sovereign being anointed by God.

One side can trace the lineage from 1066 A.D. and William the Conquerer to the present day, and this coronation will be my only chance to see one. Previously, I watched the royal weddings of Charles and Diana, (I stayed up all that dreadful night of Princess Diana's car crash and subsequent death in Paris) Charles and Camila's wedding as well as Princess Andrew and Edward and now their progeny, in addition to the passing of Princess Margaret, Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. While I know she did not partake in the luncheon herself, I am making the very British Coronation Chicken recipe and rice salad to celebrate King Charles III. I watched the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on a 9" television set back in 1953. I was four years old and it made an impression on me; at least the music and the costumes did. I doubt if I really understood what was going on. We had to travel to a cousin's home to see our first ever television set. This was in Harvey, Illinois. ( I say this for Julie) I do realize that for health and safety reasons, having 8000 people in Westminster Abbey is not permissible, but still...I think the peers should have a party where they can wear their robes and coronets and celebrate. • What a lovely episode ❤! I enjoyed hearing John talk about his memories of Queen Elizabeth's coronation! It would have been nice if all if you would've been invited but I understand wanting a slimmed down monarchy. Im looking forward to seeing you Julie commentating and it will be something definitely to remember ❤🎉! I love your current dress you have one! Lovely! Please buy a large glass case to display the robe and coronets in! Im sure you're visitors would love seeing them!!!!❤🎉😊

  • The fact that there were American celebrities invited but not Lords who have a historically significant role in British society just baffles me...and I'm American. This coronation should have focused solely on British tradition.

  • I think it would be so wonderful if there could be a Digital Mapperton Library! Imagine all the books that have been kept through the ages by the family! Also a museum in Mapperton housing the special robes, coronets, tiaras, and family heirlooms would be a good attraction and special place to keep everything in.

  • A couple of years ago I saw a documentary on the last Dukes, probably on KZhead. There was a company in London which manufactured and stored the robes. Roof or robes? I’d pay for the roof. It’s an exciting find. Now you need to have them restored and in a glass showcase. Julie you look especially glamorous today.

  • It’s splendid for his family and all of us that Earl of Sandwich still has most of his marbles. He can recall a number of old memories and details. The robe and the crown are beautiful but most of all valuable with so much history attached to it. I mean we are talking about the Great Britain. 🙏🙏🙏🙏😊😊😊😊😊😊 Thank you for sharing, Earl of Sandwich. 💕🇬🇧

  • 1) There are 189 living Earls, they aren't all invited why? 2) The Montagu's are a part of the history of restoring the throne, the Earl is not invited why?

    @apburner1@apburner1 Жыл бұрын
    • Because Charles has decided it should all be scaled down, as the UK is in the middle of a cost of living crisis.

    • You'd think it'd be automatic with their history of the earldom being created due to the return of King Charles II, by the 1st Earl! Without this, would there be a Charles III?

      @nutti2you380@nutti2you380 Жыл бұрын
    • @@nutti2you380 True, but I guess all the Aristocracy got their titles from doing a Sovereign a favour over the centuries, so they 'd think they all had a right to be there . ! Charles is very conscious of the fact that lots of people are going through a very tough time at the moment, so doesn't want his Coronation to be too ostentatious.

      @lyndarichardson4744@lyndarichardson4744 Жыл бұрын
    • @@lyndarichardson4744 True enough that many titles were given due to favors, but not all with such a direct connection. My guess, many invitees would decline to attend. Scaled down, I get. But this is a big deal. It's been 70 years since the last one, and we can't know, but it'll possibly be 20 years, or more, until the next one (provided there are no other changes!). You got me thinking, now I wonder if the media companies are paying to air this.

      @nutti2you380@nutti2you380 Жыл бұрын
    • @@nutti2you380 I think they probably are paying. There was a ballot and all the peers could put their names forward to be picked. In 1953 the Coronation was much bigger, there were 8,000 in the Abbey, despite Britain being poor after WW2. However the country was more pro monarchy. Today, there's a small but very vocal anti monarchy group, who've made their views known on social media. There's also those who blame Charles & Camilla for the break up of Charles first marriage, though I think this is unfair, Diana was equally at fault. For all these reasons, I think Charles has decided this occasion should be more scaled back .
