Did I really had to become first
@@Imjustacowboy guess what , nobody asked about how early you are
Stonehenge
The Coliseum.
And Fort Casey on Whidbey Island.
I was in Rome a few years ago, and was in awe at seeing the Colosseum for the first time. I can only imagine what it was like when it was first made
Me too and it didn't disappoint. Rome is amazing
@@LIBREPUB agreed. The food was amazing
Maybe in the future, someone with a billion dollars will restore them into it's original
@@artismbyjoey779 perhaps
Man i'd give anything to be able to go back in time and see Greece and Rome during their Golden Era days, it's a shame time and war destroyed so much of it.
You & me both, ESPECIALLY Ancient Rome!!!
Probably would stink
Why?! Look at what we have now, look at the skyscrapers we have these days, the technology the cities the bridges. We have so much cool and beautiful things we've built this last 100 years alone.
@@dirkdiggler2430 while yes there's certainly beauty in the architecture of today, I'd argue "Ancient Architecture" not only looks far more beautiful than what we have today... I'd argue it's far better built, I mean... it's still standing 🤷♂️
@@aurawolf2221 wouldn’t go as far to say it was built better. It’s the fact they were built out of almost completely raw material. On that same note, almost ALL of ancient buildings are destroyed now. Prettier ? I can see that.
Dear WM, this is a awesome list & good video 🤩 sadly the title doesn't really suit the clip, cause there is not enough "what they used look.." in this top 10 😼 Ps: please do a sequel (there are a lot of sites) to this video with more "what they used to look like" clips and add the Gladiator Colosseum in Rome.
I recommend looking into Caral, Peru. It's fascinating because it's a pre-pottery city that thrived by thousands of miles of trade without beasts of burden, and had no military defense.
Shout out to Leonard Nimoy's voice over in the clip from Ancient Mysteries
My top pick to visit in it's heyday would be Tenotchtitlán, the island capital of the Mexica/Aztec Empire. I can't believe it didn't even get an honourable mention.
Greece is full of great history!
I‘m a bit underwhelmed… I expected to SEE graphics or renderings of what the sites were looking like… am I the only one?
same here
Yeah, that is what I was looking forward to seeing, too. I guess they did a few, like the pyramids...
One of my favorites is the Roman Coliseum.
History is such an amazing thing which you should always appreciate.
Both the Library and the Lighthouse of Alexandria must have been incredible to see! That's where I would want to travel back in time to.
These sites show almost Alien level societies to us today & should absolutely be protected at all costs!
this is definitely the video I’ve been after for for a very long time. thank you so much.
That’s a toughy…. I’d love to see The Roman Colosseum but also any of the Egyptian buildings. Which I more so favor Egyptian Mythology over Greek or Roman. I’ve always have been fascinated with Egyptology.
The reason I want to see the Great Wall is because of Spiro the Dragon on PS1. The One place I WOULD LOVE TO VISIT is Petra in Jordan. Indiana Jones made sure of that.
Amazingly beautiful touristic places !!! :D
I love the Roman Coliseum !!! 💯😎
My dad and I saw pictures at the hotel we stayed in at Rome of what it use to look like from when it was built to what it looked like when were there in 2014 (and I imagine today)
I wouldn't mind going back in time to visit the Tower of Pisa before it started leaning along with the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and Colossus of Rhodes.
Easter Island, aka Rapa Nui would be my pick if I could time travel. I’d love to know who built the Moai and why they did it
it’s much older than archaeologists think because of how deep they’re buried. It would take at least 8000 years for the statues to sink down to their necks
@@GG-ng6zm Absolutely. I don’t trust most dates provided by mainstream archaeology. When I was there the locals all said it’s older than everyone thinks and they all had their own theories…unfortunately I think we’ll never know for sure
Beautiful places
video didnt show how they used to look
I would visit all of them to be honest
Not named in the video but would have loved to see the Colossus of Rhodes & the hanging gardens of Babylon
The Coliseum is what I would want to see
Imagine if The Spinx still had it's nose? I wonder why they've never tried to restore it? 🤔
it’s whole face was recarved
So where is the Coliseum? How could you not include the Coliseum?
Top 10 Archaeological Sites an What Three Used To Look Like?
Did i miss Göbekli Tepe in the list?
I actually did go to Greece with my family back in 2005. Mostly, it was to visit relatives, but we included some sightseeing
Ancient ruins are amazing! I always wonder how they were built, how they were used, and why they were abandoned.
The Castle of Cagliostro 🏰
Explore perselpolis! How can it not be in this list??!?!?
The wonders of ancient human civilization
Alexandria, my home! 😍❤️
I want to go back to visit Konark, Odisha, India at its full glory. It was built in 12th Century dedicated to Sun God. Built over 12 years by 1200 craftsmen is the best example of Odisha's best stone craftsmanship. Said to build near the sea shore. It is built as a Rath or chariot of Sun God with 24 wheels representing 24 hours of a day each wheel works as a Sun dial, 7 horses representing 7 days of a week and was said to be the tallest temple of Kaligan or Nagar style Architecture. Now only the front is preserved and the main temple collapsed due to many invasions and erosion. It is a magnificent piece of work..each stone in the temple has intricate carvings with people dancing, trees, war and gods..
I'd have liked to see Hadrian's Wall on the list.
I would go to every one and write why and how they where made so i can quit hearing "No one knows" from everyone even though we have pretty much figured out each mystery.
Poor representations of what these sites once looked like.
Definitely the Garden of Eden. Will be looking for Eve. And I'd be like...girl, seriously?
If only time machines were invented
If people throughout the centuries had actually cared more about preserving history then many of these ruins today would appear like they did in their heyday. It's a shame. The Pantheon is Rome is probably the best example of a completely intact ancient structure. Even if it was converted into a Christian church.
Maybe if someone with a billion dollars will restore and rebuilt these sites into good as new.
How do you forget the coliseum?
Wikipedia: "Radiocarbon dating suggests that people were living in Skara Brae for around 650 years between 3180 B.C.E and 2,500 B.C.E, making it older than Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids of Giza."
you cannot see the great wall from space, NASA and many other experts has stated that. For some reason, people keep saying that shit like it's fact when it's not.
Everybody knows Athens is the way it is because of the fight of Saint Seiya
You gueys ever heard about the Tower of babel and Hanging garden?
14:10 It was stripped and used for buildings by the next generation of inhabitants of the region.
Colosseum for sure
Can you imagine if these people had even a quarter of the technology we have today? I afraid to even imagine it.
What They Used To Look Like? Click bait title- didn't show what half the sites used to look like.
Pretty possible they were destroyed by the victors
Why is Stonehenge on this list but newgrange isn’t ?
Pompeii
Which of these ancient archeological sights hasn’t Indiana Jones explored or recovered artifacts from?
Not first
It should never matter if you are
Still sad
At least we can’t blame how Rome and Athens looks due to modern war. The Allies were pretty careful in not bombing historic sites. I’m friends with a B17 pilot who is still sharp as an axe and he said they were given strict orders not to bomb the Cologne cathedral.
💯😎
Please change the title of this video. It's 90% talking about these sites & showing video clips from television shows (like Nova, etc.) talking about them & there is very little renderings & descriptions of what they originally looked like. C'mon WatchMojo -- I thought you were beyond using clickbait. My respect for you just went down a notch.
oh cmon they have used clickbaits to so many videos , this cannot be a surprise :D
@@temesk7631 I haven't noticed any that were this bad. then again, I only watch maybe half of their videos at most
what about indus valley civilization
Injust want to see the Hagia sophia without the Minarettes
How is Petra Jordan not top ten 😮
👍
These are usually good videos, still don't understand why the title is usually clickbait instead of what the videos are actually showing.
What about Baalbeck
Angkor ... MORTAL KOMBAT!
What is all this "BCE" and "CE" going on about? The current calendar is "BC" and "AD"
Be a part of social entertainment
Go back to see how the pyramids were built
Misleading title lmao
Yay I’m not early
not 2nd
You are far away from it
Still sad
What about Jerusalem?
Minoan empire
😮😊
🤩😃
I just didn't get this one...
wooooow
Not as expected
Man I can't stand these hyped up American-style history programmes with the unnecessarily dramatic voiceover and music. Not only is it incredibly distracting, it also makes the programme lose all credibility. That bit about the marble work was refreshingly quiet.
skara brae sounds like lawrence chaney's drag daughter.
The great Wall of China shouldn't be on the list as all the parts open to the public was rebuilt in the 70s and 80s not so ancient
TOP 10 Bad Characters Who Improved Overtime
No Rome yiu kidding
Stone Henge is the most overrated and overhyped pile of stones!
Stonehenge is lame as hell
I may be wrong when I say this, but is it possible to recreate those sites of what it used to be, instead of what it remains?🏗
