    • That was great. I would add teeth care, nutrition and exercise. Those are all priorities of self care. My question to you would be if there is an easier, quicker solution for skin care for men that you would recommend. A bag full of products to use in the face sounds like a lot to do…😁

  • Skincare routine -- Cetaphil daily FACIAL cleanser, or CeraVe daily FACIAL cleanser [Morning/Night] CeraVe Moisturizing Cream [Morning/Night] NuRx Tretinoin aka Retin-A starting with .025% [Night after applying Moisturizing Cream] ^ This is the derm recommended treatment base. You could increase the Tretinoin up after the first 90 days, but .025% should work with minimal side effects when used for long term. Alternatively, if you have hyper pigmentation, you can add in OTC Hydroquinone products that have 2%, but this stuff is pretty damaging to the skin, so use sparingly and probably not along with Tretinoin unless you're acclimated to both with minimal redness/peeling/etc.

  • Nose hair trimmers are ok- but nose hair wax kits work REALLY well and you can do it less often. I also use the wax in my ears. It looks pretty funny with those wax wands in my nose and ears, it hurts some too, but it gets easier every time and works really well. I highly recommend waxing out nose hair.

  • The effort your saying is required in looks is unnecessary to me because it's very easy to win people over with looks. Sounds counter productive but what I'm getting at is the people I win over with looks only ignore my personality and shits gonna break down sooner. I prefer impressing people who I know actually really like _me_ than that people that are captured by my looks that are gonna flake when my personality doesn't match their projections or were never listening to me in the first place. Some people do well with that kind of attention but that's not what I go for. But in the end it's OK for goals to differ.

    • Your appearance is the packaging that EVERYONE notices first. Use it to your advantage or detriment.

      @MensFashioner@MensFashioner2 жыл бұрын
    • @@MensFashioner I know. But for me it's a good filter. If you're so caught up and distracted in my looks that it's the only thing you focus on and disregard my values and opinions I'm a bit glad that you count me out. I've had some good convos with people despite looking "unkempt". My mother and aunt always hounded me for not putting myself together like my brother does. But it's a pretty easy argument that I've made better quality friends and am in a better position than him. I've even had people go as far as to say keeping up appearances isn't for them, it's for "me". Despite the only one caring about how I look is _them._ It's fine if that's where your values are and those are the kinds of friends you want but I want to know I'm improving my looks for my own goals than to maintain a good image for people I don't know and don't care about.

      @edwardhoffenheim3249@edwardhoffenheim32492 жыл бұрын
    • You seem to be entirely focused on the effect appearance has on friends or other people who are around for a long time … specifically, the ones who are around by choice. I find it important to impress our clients, regardless of whether they really know me or not. If I'm giving a presentation, I'd like the audience to be paying attention, even if they'll never get the opportunity to get to know who I am on the inside. If I'm in a competition, I'd prefer to have the ref/judge be more favorably inclined toward me … regardless of how much or little I deserve the benefit of the doubt. Police officers, TSA agents, customs agents … my interaction with them is only going to be for a few minutes, but I'd prefer to have them treat me more favorably than not. The world is full of superficial people who will make decisions about me based on superficial things like my appearance. They will never get to know me well enough to realize that their first impression was wrong. I might as well use that to my advantage.

      @karlr750@karlr7502 жыл бұрын
    • @@karlr750 Very fair points. But I legitimately never have to be in these situations because I spent less time impressing people with my appearance and more on building my skillset, knowledge and experience. In my country people put HEAVY weight into how you appear relating to your success. You can get a good distance on looks but in my personal experience and a few friends we've gotten waaaay further with our knowledge. People are waking up at 6 or even 5 in the morning to go to a job to make less than me with a lot less free time and having to dress up every day while I legitimately just wake up whenever work when it's convenient in my underwear if I want as long as I meet deadlines and I do a lot better than other people. It's legit crazy. But somehow I consistently hear people telling me how looks are important yet no one ever places the same importance on skills and knowledge. Went to a "therapist" and the guys solution was "fix up your appearance". Didn't matter how I explained to him my plans and goals that's all he focused on. These are societies values. But I value the experiences I get when I interact with the subgroup of society that doesn't care more than the experiences of trying to impress those that care way too much about that. So again your examples are legitimately. But because I spent time on my other values I really don't even have to care. People with style get a lot of passes but don't think I don't get a lot of passes myself because I don't have their style. Because hell yeah I do lol
