A country filled with persecution, subjugation and child abuse. Yemen has one of highest rates of child marriage in the world. I had a lovely work colleague who was Yemeni, a doctor (specialist) who moved to Australia. If he lived back home he would no doubt be executed. You can guess why?

Poor man: "Here, you can have the shirt off my back. You need it more than I do." Rich man: "My net worth only increased by 5% this year. That's terrible. I _still_ can't afford that sailboat! My golf buddies are going to ridicule me because they're making more than me. How embarrassing! Why me??" I find the psychology fascinating. I think it has something to do with isolationism. The rich tend to migrate into their own individual bubbles where it's acceptable to be very self-concerned. The poor have no choice but to act as a community, all for one and one for all. There is strength in groups. But if you have millions of dollars then you don't need a group, so you make your own rules and create your own reality. I'm sure there are exceptions to this paradigm, but it's something I've observed myself many times. The most generous people I've ever known were dirt poor.

Levels of knowing what its like to need. Which makes people with less means share more even to strangers not just community. Tradition and religion is something that plays a role. I spent five months in Sana'a in 2004. Everyone was incredibly friendly. Even those who obviously didn't have much would offer to share with me. I attended multiple weddings, uninvited, and was welcomed every time. Never ever did I feel unsafe. I'm sure it helped that my Arabic was reasonably good, but I don't think it would have made much difference if I didn't speak much Arabic, it just would have made it more difficult to communicate. One time I was approached by a man who was obviously not right mentally, and kept saying something about his uncle, but within maybe 10 seconds, at least five other Yemenis showed up and took him away. The Yemeni are a beautiful people. The powers that be in the west need to do something to stop the tragedy that is happening there.

Extensive traveling has taught me that, unlike what the media wants us to believe, 99% of the people are good people in any country, even in dirt poor or war thorn places.
My grandmother was from Al-Mukalla, she moved to Saudi Arabia when she was 9 years old. She used to go there every year and when she gets back she would always bring cedar honey which was very rare to find here. I always wanted to visit Yemen but it's difficult due to the current circumstances. This video gave me a perspective of my ancestors hometown! I only wished I'd known what it was like before the war, the Hadrami people were very famous traders and merchants and it's sad to see the reality they're in nowadays. I really loved it, thank you so much for sharing your experience!

When she was a child of 9 her father married her off to my grandfather who was working in Makkah, and she moved here. It's really sad. Also, Saudi Arabia was open to foreigners, it was a new country

We are a people known for its construction abilities - check out Shebam, towers built over 800year ago. It's a fact that most of the GCC was built by the Yemeni people
Yemen consists of two Yemens, namely South Yemen, which consists of authentic Arab tribes from which the rest of the tribes of the Arabian Peninsula were formed. South Yemen is the first Arab country to open up to the Western, European and Russian outside world. It is a country with a lot of young cadres open to the outside world. South Yemen is a qualified and valid state to be a state like the rest of the countries that respect the rights of others to life, respect international conventions and preserve international shipping lines. While North Yemen has been a state since its founding, an arbitrary state run by a Zaydi lobby that controls and dominates all levers of power and wealth. North Yemen descended the origins of his sons to the Persians and Abyssinian. North Yemen consists of gypsy tribes that do not respect the rights of others in life and only believe in the logic of wars, murder, looting and intermittent plunder. Since its inception, North Yemen has never sought to be a sovereign state. Rather, the people of North Yemen are divided into three sections as follows: one third of the northern components follow Iran, one third follow Qatar, and the other third are silent. North Yemen is simply a semi-state because its sons are not qualified either scientifically, academically, or culturally. Rather, they do not have the minimum level of basic education. This was the policy of former President Saleh and the Yemeni Congregation for Reform Party (the Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen). South Yemen is like South Korea like life and respect others lives and wanna provide something for the other societies whereas North Yemen like North Korea just like to kill the lives of others and like to fight and make life a piece of hell. This is the easiest definition from which you can understand the difference between the Two Yemens

According to oral tradition, my tribe (Bura) in Northeastern Nigeria originated from Yemen. Because of this I have a special place in my heart for Yemen and the people of Yemen. Even though I live in Canada I want to not only visit Yemen but also help women and youth in Yemen. My organization would like to provide school supplies, support young artists (musicians, performers), and provide things that will be useful for women if I have reliable contact(s). I am totally flabbergasted by the beautiful landscape. Just like Iran, etc, you are showing us a total different picture to the one I had in my mind. We are so lucky to have people like you showing the other side of a country and not just the rubbish we are fed through the mainstream media. I really expected Yemen to be this flat landscape - how wrong was my perception! Though your eyes we see the turmoil, but every country you visit has shown us that the general population are good people without hatred towards anyone. They just want to live a normal life in peace and harmony.

I am an Yemeni-Indonesian. My great-grandfather immigrated from Hadhramaut, Yemen in 1900s. It was a great place, but when ottoman empire deteriorate, economy is unstable. My great-grandfather told my father that there was no guarantee you can eat everyday at the time. So he, and many other Yemeni emigrated to around the world, one of the destination is Indonesia (then East Indies). It breaks my heart seeing my ancestral land suffered worst humanitarian crisis in the world. Looking forward to visit Yaman sometime in the future! Great video by the way. ❤️

You are our brothers. The south Yemenis, people from Yafai, Aden, Hadramut, and more hate the north. The north, Ibb, Taz, Sanaa have oppressed us from 1994-2012. You can now visit Hadramut since we were able to kick out most of the terrorist and the northern army. You will see soon, we’ll make a new country that is safer for you to visit.

Hi Nick, My family left Yemen for Israel in 1949-50. They are from Shar'ab county in the Taiz governorate (in the middle of the road between Aden to Sana'a). I grew up with many of their stories and memories that made me long for a country I had never been to before. So whenever someone visits the old country and shares impressions, I get very excited. Thank you. I recently finished writing a fiction novel about Yemen in 1947. In one of the chapters, I write about Mukalla. The city that you have just visited. I wasn't surprised when one of the shopkeepers told you that he wants the British to come back. The sultans of Qu'ati - the state of the city of Mukalla - admired the British culture and tried to bring it to their territory. As for the language, the Yemenis don't use much "Shukran" to say thank you. Instead, they bless you. Notice that during your visit to the market, they replied to your "Shukran" with "(Allah) Yandilak alAfi'ya" - may God give you health - or "Hayak" - to your life. I look forward to the rest of your journey in Yemen. I hope it will be most enjoyable and go smoothly. Stay safe.

Don't let poverty and the lack of basic life necessities in Yemen fool you, Yamani people are the most generous down to earth people in the whole world, They will never take advantage of you will never steal from will never even lie to you, If you ask them for something they will give it to you even if its all they got, I know people from all around the world never seen anything like Yamani people.

I knew where Yemen was because I love geography. A couple of years ago I read about the war and something about Yemen got to me. Seeing the war scenes, the bombed buildings, the sick and dying children absolutely breaks my heart. As an American, all we've been shown here is the horror of the country. The danger of the country and brokenness of it's people. I would've thought, from what we're shown, that there's no way anyone could travel there and be safe. Not a chance. Thank you for showing me something I desperately prayed for. That her people are not broken and that they still have hope. They just need help. It is far more beautiful there than I imagined and the people ♥️♥️♥️ Thank you for doing what you do. You give people like me a chance to see what's really going on, what the people are like, to experience they're culture. It's important for that to happen because, especially in the US, the media has an agenda and it's not always a good one ✌🏻♥️
