Avengers Endgame: We'll Never See Anything Like It Again

The Avengers: Endgame anniversary is here, and what better time is there to think of Avengers: Endgame and its impact. The Avengers movies are monumental, with Iron Man beginning the whole saga and Endgame finalizing it all alongside Captain America and Thor. This will never happen again, Marvel Studios did something that can’t be repeated, with Avengers: Infinity War setting up the crowning achievement, with Thanos actually winning out. Will Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. return? Some say that’s debatable, but as shown in characters like Black Widow or Hulk, even if a return can happen, it may still never touch Avengers: Endgame levels ever again. Tony Stark changed what a superhero movie could be, with his power in the way eclipsing even Captain Marvel. It’s hard not to have emotions stirred by the sound of the theme song of Avengers (or maybe specifically the Avengers Infinity War theme song), and that took time to craft and create. Will there ever be another Avengers: Endgame? Another casting as good as Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man? Probably not. And that’s an achievement, not an insult.

  • Avengers: Endgame was something that no one ever expected to happen back in 2008 when the first Iron-Man was released. No one would have thought a movie about a narcissistic billionaire who builds a suit of armor in a cave with a box of scraps would lead to not one, not two, not three, but four billion dollar crossover films, or even other heroes either. Yet, in 2012, Marvel set up something with Thanos at the end of The Avengers, and then again in Age of Ultron with the Infinity Stones and Thanos again in 2015. It all led to Infinity War's build up and downer ending for the payoff we all know happened the next year in 2019. It all meant something, and it all felt like the biggest event in cinema history. I'll forever be grateful that we have the Infinity Saga as a large overarching 11 year story as a film series. Nothing will ever top it.

They had 4 massive movies with the Avengers, the BIGGEST movies of all time in fact, they need to let it go. Because the story can't continue. There's no BIGGER thing to go to next. You can never top it. Once you've scaled up to "snap your finger and half the universe dies", what's the next villain going to do??? You can't keep scaling up from that.

The only reason it has such high praise is because of the cameos and as usual pulling on the Nostalgia strings. Why do you think they have (rely on) so many cameos in almost every movie now? Because their writing is non existent and they've hit their ceiling arguably with this movie.

It’s when you start pumping out products that have nothing to say, like the ant-man movies or recent Captain marvel, where you start losing the audience.

Even if you weren't heavily invested, you wanted to know where these characters would end up. The MCU execs lost focus on that, saturating the genre with rushed stories for the sake of profit. It's no wonder the well has gone dry on genre enthusiasm.
