    • 😁 I think that's why she won ... her opponents started beating themselves up after losing the first set "HOW!??? JUST HOW CAN I BE LOSING TO A QUALIFER RANKED 150??? HOW!???" That's not going to be an advantage to Emma anymore - she's the champ, the standard by which every player will measure themselves ... one of them might even take a set off her before losing "I've made such an improvement - I took a set off a tennis legend"

    • I'm 5'6" and she's 3 inches taller than me (ok that doesn't say much LOL)! I think given how well she moves and hits the ball so cleanly her height definitely isn't an issue. Her best assets are between her ears though, mental toughness - seems silly to say that so early but I've seen her matches in the UK when she didn't play internationally and well she's the real deal.

      @dtrjones@dtrjones2 жыл бұрын
    • @@dtrjones That's great. What I partly meant by my comment is that power in tennis (and in other sports too) doesn't depend primarily on muscles (though that helps). Even though she doesn't have the physique of a Sakkari, Emma can clearly pound that ball and it has to do with technique and timing. If you have size, strength, technique and timing, you're lucky! And without doubt, none of that matters much without a good head on your shoulders :-)

  • Great footage, thank you so much. Just a shame this supportive crowd were missing for the Final. It was so obvious the NY crowd wanted Leylah to win, and didn't fully appreciate Emma's outstanding effort..

    @larhumba4233@larhumba42332 жыл бұрын
    • The crowd doesn't really matter. They were always going to favour a Canadian especially when she went behind. Raducunu gets the Wimbledon crowd behind her so it balances out over the year I guess and unless she's playing an Aussie I'm guessing the Australians will be on her side too, not so sure about the French but maybe. Watching it in the UK the bias towards Fernandez didn't seem that bad although...... maybe I was shutting it all out and just concentrating on the match.

      @corleth2868@corleth28682 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah the crowd wanted Leylah and it was cringed for me watching it on TV. Especially, during Leylah and Sabalenka because Sabalenka is one of my favorites. I sense a little arrogance coming off of Leylah after winning against Osaka.

      @AN-cy7xm@AN-cy7xm2 жыл бұрын
    • @@AN-cy7xm So why did the Interviewer and Leylah herself refer to being the crowd favourite, and thank them, in the Presentation Ceremony? It was patently obvious to anyone watching, you don't need to have been a Brit! I'm just glad Emma was able to overcome that, at 18, a Qualifier with little experience, to overcome the boos when she caught her ball toss in the serve because it wasn't right, and the angry boos when she had to take a MTO for a bleeding knee, with Leylah screaming at the Referee it was unfair as she was on breakpoint, when it's WTA rules and she knows it. She just encouraged the crowd to think Emma did it deliberately.

  • Some incredible angled winners with horrid spin ..looks like she has a masters training certificate for all the shots when Dustin Brown shocked Nadal with a mass of winners from nowhere. Also the ”backhand angled overhead” winner at 5.45 just stunned her opponent.. incredibly creative from an awkward position. Could be a contender for greatest ever tennis shot in tournament play. Can she repeat that kind of shot? Do they train for this.. unbelievable. The opponent looked great too..hope she bounces back.. amazing depth in women tennis

    • @@MrCostaC how do you know what is irrelevant to me? You mean its irrelevant to you which is why you dont think its important but in the real world all marketing men know that an attractive person will always be more marketable. And yes i do find it nice to watch a beautiful young lady enjoy herself in such a way. Certainly beats watching some sour faced tamtrum throwing brat that tennis is full of. But just cause something might not be relevant to you dont assume you know what is relevant to other ppl.
