  • We've just finished this meal tonight, after watching your video this morning. The Scalloped tatties were the best I've ever eaten. The Chicken, I didn't have the same ingredients but the tatties with the bacon, mozzarella cheese (cos that's all I had) with the onions in the Dutch oven were better than any fancy restaurant meal. Thanks from the UK. Geordie

  • Both of these recipes look great! I am going to try both of them at home but I think that they would be great on a camping trip! I think that it would have to be a car camping trip where the cast iron could be close to a vehicle but I think that they would both be a big hit! BTW, what was in the other dutch ovens? Desert, bread and or other dishes? I like to make what I call "dump cobbler". 1 yellow cake mix, a can of fruit (i like peach) and a stick of butter chipped up on top. I dump the cake mix and can of fruit into the dutch oven and only stir it 5 or 6 times then put the butter on top. I cook it a little slower so that it doesn't burn, about 8 coals on bottom and 10 on top of a 12 inch lodge shallow camp dutch oven. An aluminum liner helps keep it from sticking too bad and from burning. A big spoon full or two of vanilla ice cream and MAN oh MAN! Thanks for the video!

    • These were made by a friend of mine, but you should be able to find something similar at a store that sells dutch ovens.

  • How many coals top and bottom

    @rylanvallejos2895@rylanvallejos28953 жыл бұрын
    • Rule of thumb is to match the number of coals on top and bottom with the diameter of your oven. For example, a 12 inch standard Dutch oven would take 12 coals on top and 12 coals on the bottom to get 350° baking temperature. I add a few more coals top & bottom when using a deep Dutch oven. Good question, Rylan - thanks!

  • Ya looks pretty good for sure. Did your thighs shrink in that thing? Look like they were half the size when you took the cover off
