Cast Iron Wednesday- Dutch Oven Stew on the Campfire
In celebration of the Second Anniversary of "Cast Iron Wednesday", invented by Dee and promoted by Sean I am participating in their monthly challenge. This month the challenge is "Stew".
I will cook beef stew in my Lodge dutch oven and utilize some cooking equipment I made myself.
Sorry the video is so long.... thanks for watching it if you do, but please check out Dee and Sean, and Ron too.... they all are cool folks.
Dee's channel is • CastIronWednesday 2YrA...
Sean's channel is • Cast Iron Wednesday ...
And Ron's channel can be found here • hot tent . just a fast...
As usual, I thank you for watching.
Please consider subscribing to my channel if you like outdoors stuff! The link is right here / @carolinachrisoutdoors
I do different stuff on Instagram.... same name but I don’t know how to put a link to that here because I’m old.

  • I apologize upfront for the length of the video... sorry. Also, just so you know, the Cast Iron Wednesday challenge for March is “stew”... not just beef stew. Thanks for watching, and if this your first time watching my channel, consider subscribing. Most of my videos are not this long, but I’m usually outside doing something. Thanks for watching! - Chris

  • I learned how to bake bread in a dutch oven over a campfire. I know how to bake bread at home, was taught when a little boy, made all kinds of bread at home. But learning how to bake campfire dutch oven bread is golden key skill. So, If you were out in the wild for days ...or SHTF, making bread opens a lot more things you can stock up, like PB&J , sandwiches, SOS. etc. So hunkering down in your camp baking a loaf of bread a day, gives a good chore,. There is a huge variety of foods you can stock and store. If SHTF, you wont have fresh bread at the store, you wont be able to get to the store, so you can make tuna salad, chicken salad, ham salad, grilled cheese, SOS, so many things you can prep and stock up when you know you can bake bread...even in the deep woods over a campfire.

  • Hi Chris. Dandy looking stew you cooked up there. I thought you were really doing the Mountain House one first. 🥺 Nice flint striker and lighting a fire that way is more fun. The cooking racks you made are pretty awesome looking. The camp is really coming along. Soon you won't want to leave it. The camera gear your "film crew" uses is getting to be in rough shape. A Texas Pete holster....that is a first! Good to see the beer stump producing at the right time. I had some luck with my hunting last week. Video coming out this weekend. ......Take care, Mike

I also add a bit of tomato to beef stew and my version of minestrone. I dont use much so I pretty much keep the squeezable tube of tomato paste in the fridge at all times now. One lil squirt in just enough for more most times. TC and ATB, Cris.
