  • The fact that he’s not had a proper fixed head coach in his last two fights will have played a huge part in this. It’s all very well training in Thailand and Sweden, but without a solid overhead checking you and your game, this is what happens

Many fighters delude themselves into believing that they will be champion no matter what, that they deserve it and that they can will it into existence because it is their destiny, and they speak publicly about that from the beginning, but the reality is that very few people ever actually achieve it. The vast majority of all competitors will never get the belt. They'll just have a career in the sport, make some money, have some wins and losses like Till and that's that. Then they'll retire and fade away. Some will be remembered as legends even without being champs but most just fade into the past. The cycle repeats again and again as long as the sport is around. • Most people really love fighting when they are beating the shit out of someone, when the fights are grueling, tough, vicious, damaging, then they don't look forward to fighting as much. Till has done nothing noticeable to fix his weaknesses. This is also common, a lot of people will avoid training the things they suck at. That's where the champion mindset comes in.

Look at Cody Garbrandt, he was undefeated and dominated the bantam weight GOAT in Dominick Cruz and then went 1 - 5 after. Point is, Darren is young, but without someone that can push him to become better and check where he's at. A head coach.

  • I’m happy that in Darren‘s most recent interviews he’s much more of a family man versus how he used to prioritize legacy first. Legacy doesn’t mean anything especially in the UFC where after you retire people stop talking about you and within 10 years it’s like you hardly existed. I am rooting for Darren. I think he should see a sports psychologist tho. I look forward to seeing him fight in the future and hopefully overcoming whatever is holding him back.

    @Marfmellow88@Marfmellow88 Жыл бұрын
    • Legacy does mean something, if you made a significant enough mark on the sport. Conor, Ronda and Khabib will continue to be talked about for years, if not decades. As will the GOATs like GSP, Jones and Silva.

      @madgavin7568@madgavin7568 Жыл бұрын
    • @@madgavin7568 Yes but they are mentioned in passing, used in compilations of "best of" moments or they are listed amongst the GOATs...that's it. Give it more time for Conor and Ronda, history will remember them differently and perhaps Kabib too. Everyone has a tainted legacy one way or another. GSP reappeared in the mma media the last couple of years because his movie career flopped and he wanted the attention again, it came across a little desperate imo. Legacy means little and it certainly isn't enough to neglect family relationships.

But now he's just not learning anything new. Why is his wrestling not improving? It seems strikers like him and Holland are too stubborn to change now that they're already in the UFC. • Honestly I wonder if getting dominated one sided by T-Wood while seeing someone who he was fairly even with, in Wonderboy (yes, he won, but it's very controversial), fight him twice and draw once, flicked a switch in him, a cap where he subconsciously feels like he can never reach the top.

    @user-nv2wt4hi8t@user-nv2wt4hi8t Жыл бұрын
    • he's just not on that level of a top tier fighter. The main reason he won the fight against Wonderboy was bc he missed weight so the fight was at a catch weight which this guy conveniently left out.

I was cheering a good bit and really hoping for Darren till to win against du plesis. It is crazy how he is good training partnered with khamzat and does not have better takedown defense and wrestling in general. Good on Dracus du plesis on a good win and on climbing the MW contender list but man do i wish Till made a comeback.

  • till doesnt seem to have the anatomy / other physiological attributes to do this at the highest level. he claims to work harder than anyone or whatever, but when he was training w khamzat we were shown that there are levels to this and till doesnt seem to posses them. imagine he lost to cowboy, thats his only highlight i can recall and it seems like he wants to relive that moment or one like it everytime he enters the octagon, essentially hoping for a hail mary in every fight. mcgregor got off on the secret, which is honestly just coincidence, till still thinks hes going to speak his greatness into reality. theres a saying in AA/NA, "doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is insanity", and with till essentially doing just that, at least when he enters the cage, its apparent that though he may not be insane, he is definitely delusional. im not sure if anyone has really sat down and spoken to him about where hes at, i could see it being difficult to say something like this to him because hes so charismatic.maybe he hasnt reached a brendan shaub / joe rogan moment, but its not too far off having just fallen out of the rankings. sorry for the novel, what do i know.

But I guess he didn't train at All-Star for this one, and Khamzat was too busy entertaining a warlord's sons to show up in the corner of the "brother" who cornered him in his last two fights.
