  • This might be the best video on KZhead. The way you show the same clip at the beginning and then, with context, at the end... Goosebumps. Jon is asking himself, frantically, what he did. He's saying he hates himself. He knows what happened and is in denial about what he became in that moment. Insane storytelling. May we all find peace

    • Dude, the construction of that documentary was solid. The way the story line rises and falls lures one into depths of your theme. The references to the book, Relentless, and personification of John's identity as a, "Cleaner" simply weaved the whole project into a tight braid. Inspirational as f*@$. Thanks. P.S. I still believe your doc. on Dana and the UFC is prophetic- if I recall, it was made before the WWE merger as well as talk of unifying all championship belts into one - the BMF on the planet. Just give it a few more years; at most.

  • This is much more than a Jon Jones documentary. I think every people has a dark side but very few people can separate it out. And you are right - the dark side is way more powerful than the good side when it comes to motivation and getting what you want. Sometimes, you genuinely try to be good but bad things happen in life and you end up going back to your dark side because as you mentioned - you know it will save your ass by throwing every morality out of the window if it has to. I don't think this is true for most people, but some people have that ability to tap into their dark side just like in a flip of a switch. Jones' interviews about being a good guy or a bad guy or when he is talking about his personality probably show that he is very aware of his good side and bad side. IDK whether that makes much sense though just what I feel.

  • You are the GOAT of this. You and Joseph Vincent are hands down the two best creators of documentary content. People need to realize that no one is perfect, I think the biggest thing about Jon is that he relates to a lot of us. You might think you’re perfect, but the fact is, ain’t nobody perfect. Nobody is without fault. More relatable than most fighters. It’s not a fake persona, it’s just a guy who has faults, and is also a crazy mf. You explained that perfectly in this video, me being into psychology, I can definitely get with this.

  • This "cleaner" personality aspect is something I always thought about professional athletes, but above all, combat sports athletes. In order to be good at hitting another human, but above all, keep calm and composed when someone is beating you up in front of millions of viewers, requires a completely different mindset, emotional coldness and pain tolerance that "we" don't have, and we will never will. I would say Jones became the GOAT precisely because he mentally deviates even from his fellow GOATs(Silva, GSP, MM, etc), he is the only one that fights like he is not even slightly concerned about his opponent body integrity, but also didn't let Gus break his mental integrity either.

Love watching the UFC and the sport of MMA, but the stories take things to a new level. So much is revealed about a person's self when they are striving to be great. Especially in the fight game. Parables on the human condition.

    • Your comment doesn’t get a like from the creator because you showed love for Jon Jones. It’s a great documentary but he continues to try to paint Jon in a negative light and it tells us loads about his character and how far he is willing to go just for clicks

Are you a piece of shit based on your shit decisions in the past? That could have no doubt been impulsive and manipulated by the pressure itself?

  • A bad guy who strives being good - such an open response from Jon. What a strong documentary @Patrick Gavia! You did a remarkable job on this. I appreciate your unique approach in the video. You've woven together Jon's story, discussed his past and upbringing, delved into the concept of our darker sides, and used the book Cleaners to help make sense of Jon's situation. I too have grappled with understanding and dealing with my own darker side. I've attempted to hide or dismiss it, but that only led to it erupting unpredictably and even more powerfully. Your video taught me that our darker selves can be a source of strength. It's important to acknowledge it, coexist with it, and integrate it into our lives. But it needs to be kept under control, kept dark. Thank you for providing the clarity I've been seeking.

But keeping the same audio presentation. Man..i feel like so many more people would get into books if they were presented this way. This is a beautiful video
