  • Hello. I worked for the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts. The Steven Seagal movie On Deadly Ground was partially filmed at one of our new facilities called Carver Greenfield. All the scenes at the end when Michael Caine gets killed were filmed inside what was the Sludge Evaporation equipment bldg. It was a huge six-story building full of piping, pumps, shell and tube heat exchangers, etc. I was the maintenance Supervisor assigned to this project, and when Warner Bros. Showed up to start filming they hired me to be the Overhead Crane operator, so I took a weeks vacation and worked and hung around the set. I saw many things that seemed odd in my life but this guy kinda takes the case. While working at the Districts I was fortunate enough to be on the set for the Movie Twins and Twenty Bucks with Brendon Frasier, (Nicest guy in the world), but Deadly Ground was weird. Once during a take there were some employees viewing and he got all upset and kicked everyone off set. Except me as the set was my responsibility. I was even an extra in the movie. He was mean and wouldn’t let anyone near him. Movie was awful but I didn’t care; they paid me a ton of money to help them build the set. That’s my little Seagal story.

  • My dad worked on Seagal’s first movie Above The Law. My dad was a paramedic on the Chicago Fire Department, and after he retired from the CFD he got a job with the Motion Picture Union here in Chicago as a film set emergency medic. It was his first movie and the dude was already a diva. He was really into Native American spiritualism and had a guy on the payroll whose job it was to purify the set every day with sage smoke and song. Then he had this big ball of pungent smelling herbs, as big as a beachball, that he had to always have near by while he was working to set the mood. Everyone called his tumble weed, and eventually the ever present strong smell of these herbs on set everyday started making people sick. He wouldn’t work without it though. After 15 years in the business, dad had all kinds of stories like that, about all kinds of celebrities, and what they’re re really like in person, as opposed to the persona they present to the world.

He also taught alex pereira the grabbing the hand and step in side hook with the same side/hand. Kind of like gsp crazy counter vs bisping. Stuff that the average person wouldnt know is effective against a tough opponent. Work and personal life is separate. He might behave like a cult leader but as a trainer, he has some good tips for some guys etc.

  • Has anyone noticed that people claiming dubious Native American ancestry always say they're from a tribe that's easy to pronounce, large enough population-wise to avoid actual members from being able to reliably question their claims, and that is well-known enough that the average person has definitely heard of it before and therefore might not feel the need to ask any questions about specific cultural practices? Funny that.
