I remember watching this match like it was yesterday. Venus played so well this year making multiple grand slam finals. Venus and Serena as the the only active players and open era players with the longest winning streak in women's tennis with 35 matches for Venus and 34 matches for Serena. They did this on multiple occasions. These women are a phenomena that happens once in a life time. Thank you Venus and Serena for inspiring us. Keep on shining!

No one ever thought this would be Serena’s last Grand Slam win. She was poised to do so well in 2017, but in the end, she got her greatest wish of all: motherhood. Congrats on an amazing career and thank you for sharing it with the world!
She was 35. That was past the time most women started to expand their families. She couldn't have put Tennis before everything in her life forever . So yes she gained the most precious thing, the joy of a lifetime, her daughter ❤️

@@sipnog3528not really. These days there are many women starting families in their thirties after putting their careers first. My mother drilled that into her daughters and her eldest has a lovely family now that she started past the age of 30. She is happy to do that because she had the stability in her own life before creating another.
Even after years have passed, I still get butterflies in my stomach watching these loving sisters have to battle each other for the biggest titles. It still gives me chills over all they have accomplished and done for the sport.

What an interesting year 2017 was! We had some stellar performances by tennis veterans (Serena winning AO, Venus making two GS finals, Roger winning AO and Wimby, Rafa winning FO and UO), and two very unexpected one-slam wonders - Jelena and Sloane
i lost the biggest tennis match of my life to a friend who was like a brother + it changed our relationship forever. seemed like he needed it to feel superior to me. wild experience but speaking of it to say how legendary it is that we’ve gotten so much from these two sisters who’ve faced each other in some of tennis’ most epic matches ever.

Everyone talked about steffi Graf’s record and no one ever mentioned the old amateur Margaret court era, but now all of a sudden, she gets mentioned constantly when Serena beats steffi and has 23, Serena is simply the goat
That's not true. If you look up the ESPN coverage after Serena won this match, and Michael Jordan sent Serena a pair of Jordans 23, it was Serena who bought up she's going for 24 and more to break Court record! Does take away that Serena is the 🐐💪
@@MrBjorn6 i don’t think that is the point. They mentioned Margaret Court once Serena started to approach Graf’s record. The goal post got moved. Of course Serena would say she was going for 24 because they moved the GOAT marker from 23 to 24.
I’m the biggest Serena fan ever, but Serena leaned into the “24” talk unlike Graf. Graf knew she was the Open slam record holder and she knew her body wouldn’t hold up so she retired. Serena on the other hand used 24 as a benchmark to keep her motivated and to give her something to fight for. In the end all that extra pressure on her definitely did her more bad than good unfortunately

I've never seen serena hesitate about her serve until now. She couldn't let the beast out on her sister. I honestly seen the softer side of Serena in this match and also her flaws as well.

I know women working in warehouse 6 months pregnant 12 hrs a day lifting 20 kg packages. Millions like them so I am not so impressed for 2 hrs playing tennis. Then Margaret Court after her first pregnancy, came back in tennis and won 3 GS in first year. However, SW did extraordinary things but not invented or reinvented tennis. Stefi Graf is the best candidate for role model as tennis player both on or outside the court. Respectful, humble, no outbursts or bullying umpires.
