    • Do you seriously think anyone's going to listen to you? LOL

      @1972pdc@1972pdc2 жыл бұрын
    • @@melinakerifan that's perfectly normal and probably happens to every other beginner that tries the continental grip for their serve. You're on the right track though! If the serve is going crazy to the left then make sure at impact your strings are facing the front. To do that with a continental grip you must pronate. (research that in the tennis serve) It takes from practice but we all start with that frying pan grip and learn to serve correctly! Good luck and enjoy the game.

      @TennisComplete@TennisComplete2 жыл бұрын
    • this is very debatable... A the club level there isn't that much difference using the continental compared to the eastern grip. More over, most players are weekend warriors and do not feel comfortable using the continental grip. It does produce a bit more of a slice serve on the Eastern grip then Continental so that adds control. If you're just out having fun playing once a week and not striving for anything over 3.5 The Eastern Grip is just fine. At this level getting the ball in is the biggest priority and consistently. Most beginner players pancake the serve, so they don't hit on edge anyways. :)

      @sfowler1100@sfowler11002 жыл бұрын
    • @@sfowler1100 I agree! that's why I was curious to see how Venus was gonna teach this audience. I'm assuming it was geared towards beginners. Using the correct grip and technique is very hard for beginners to get. Sometimes the pancake grip serve is the best way to gain confidence getting the serve in and playing tennis. Teaching tennis is not easy! So many factors come into play! lol

  • So glad I stumbled across this, you helped me understand a lot of the things my teacher was trying to explain to me but you put it so well and detailed it exactly how it should be and it was very easy to understand and helpful! I think it’s amazing you’re putting these on KZhead for free, shows how passionate you are about the game to want to show us beginners and even people who just want a better serve some awesome pointers that will improve our game for a lifetime. Truly inspiring, thank you 🙏

I wanted to play tennis when I was in high school but back then the rackets were wooden and too heavy for my weak shoulders. My older sister however was a great tennis player. Keep up the good work.

  • In one take, Venus covers all the basics clearly and precisely, explaining the reasoning for everything she does. That’s not easy to do. I’m sure she’s gotten a lot of coaching, but hasn’t done much teaching herself, so she’s a natural at it. What a nice person she is.

    • Yeah, and she doesn't joke around but also tries to appeal to all skill levels. She made an ice cream simile/metaphor, but it wasn't some joke to get popular. Everything was just smooth all the way through just like her serve.
