EUROPE's wildlife in a vivarium(2 meters)! First episode.

The first of many updates on this enormous piece of forest within a container. There are obviously less animals in this one as the foundational entities have to settle first. Although, in this video we will explore one of them, the isopods!
Thank you for watching and have a fANTastic day!

  • For this vivarium can you do regular updates like once or twice a month rather than doing it like once every 3 months or so,I'm happy you're back!!!

But as we know, this is not the best natural way to do it, and maybe micro plastic would have some negative effects on the vivarium. :D its just my tought. Maybe its totally okay to use plastic bags, and you know it better. I just have this in my mind! :D But anyway! Keep going! :D waiting for the uptadte! :)

  • Very nice videos ! My 7-years daughter liked them too ! Very educative for children and to make them not scare about insects and love them. I have some many questions for you :) do you close the tank (it seems to me you do not) ? If not, are you not scared to have escaped bugs in your house (specially ants) ? Do you add lights (like for tank fish) for your plants, or just sun from windows is ok ? How often do you dry the left side ? Manually ? How quantity of water for your plants do you use without drowning bugs ? Do you warm the tank from the bottom, like done with vivarium ? What is the power of your pomp for not sucking underwater bugs ? Can you access to the pump when it starts to be dirt ?

    @quentinquadrat9389@quentinquadrat9389 Жыл бұрын
    • Amazing thank you so much!! I have olive oil barrier around the tank keeping crawlers out, but other than that the tank is wide open for things to fly in and out. Hence no ants escaping but 1-3 beetles or flies for sure... just open the window! I have the tank exposed to both natural light and lamps on timer to mimic the sun movement I make sure to NEVER completely dry the dirt as that just kills off so many bugs... but I do keep it less most by simply watering the left side less. very simple I keep it at room temperature in the basement which basically follows the temperature outside to some degree. My pump is an aquarium pump so no microorganism is pumped into it but the ones that are small enough to get dragged in are quickly flushed out anyways! I can sort of access the pump as well yes

    • @@nordicants6232 Not really related to isopods, but that trunk which you have here connecting waterfall area with "dry" area. I would be worried that when wood soak up enough water it will behave as a bridge for transfering the water from the waterfall into the soil. Actually happened to me with similar build :D back to isopods. Always have a backup of wet rotting leaves to fill the surface area. It will be afood for not only isopods. Adding some vegetables and fruits is also good. Also good to mention to add cuttlebone or calcium powder so isopods and other creatures with chitin got enough. It makes their molting easier and chitin stronger. Protein rich food should be given just sometimes if you want to keep their numbers on the leash :) If you provide protein food in the morning, other creatures like ants, snails etc. will consume it during the day, where isopods arent that active :)

  • I know you're gonna make another tank. It's just a matter of time. If you ever get the chance or time, an ecosystem from an area like West Virginia would be awesome. It is very biodiverse there. Just an idea. Coming from Pennsylvania there are salamanders and some crazy bugs here. If you do see this look up a wheel bug. It's a crazy little thing and they are somewhat common here. Just be very careful with them. Nasty bite

    • @@nordicants6232 I am an animal enthusiast and spend a lot of my time either researching and exploring new natural wonders. After coming across your channel I studied and "binged" your videos on the biodiversity vivarium. Now that you have started a European vivarium I am Inspired to do the same, I live in England. Please may You give me some tips on how you do this and any fundamental steps you know in order to create a balance. I cannot find anyone else on the internet who has attempted anything like this so really I need help from you. (also do you know of anyone else who has done the same).
