It's good if ANY animal doesn't smell fear or aggression. My mom taught me how to rescue them from crowds as a little girl, but when I once used them for evil by throwing them individually into the boys restroom after they had the audacity to throw cockroaches and a lizard on me, I got stung 5 times for my aggression. But I was too mad to care. Now am engaged to the lizard-thrower, but after his friends ran out he told me in our adulthood while dating that he had slipped backwards and was taken by the ambulance for a concussion. I remember him coming out slowly with the biggest frown on his face, probably a pain-gramace, and I threw a bee square into his chest as he asked "Why?".

Yeah I definitely would've expected to get stung atleast a couple dozen times over. One day when I was a stupid kid I put a snowmobile suit on with some ski goggles and leather gloves and just went in an old boat and ducked with some hornets. My brother told me they didn't look to happy with my presence and they were swarming all over me. Surprisingly my makeshift bee suit worked.

I find it amazing that they don’t feel threatened by you as you are literally dismantling their home piece by piece and abducting their queen. They will fight a single wasp to the death but when forcibly stuffed into a strange box they say “OK we guess we live here now.” And they carry on telling their sisters where to find the good flowers with no idea they are about to be transported across town and will have no idea where they are. You’re doing important work; I just had no idea that a big colony could be so docile and chill about being relocated. I had no idea that they would be happy living in a suitcase lying on the ground either. At least a dresser is kind of like a condominium and very like the boxes you provide for them.

@@tamara-hi8vp it basically blocks the receptors of the antennas from detecting pheromones from other bees. Think of it like suddenly losing your cell signal. Since no bees can detect an alarm pheromone, they remain calm because they don't have a reason not to be. It's all temporary too, as bees can clean their antennas using their front feet. As soon as they clear the smoke particles stuck on their antennas, they go back to normal. They also have a natural response to smoke where they rush down into the hive and start gorging on their food supplies in case they have to flee due to a fire. Fascinating creatures really!

What I don't understand, is when she opens drawers or similar maneuvers as in this video, it seems inevitable that an occasional be will get mashed. When that happens, you would think that the mashed bee(s) would send out the "attack" pherenome and the colony would become agitated and begin stinging. How does this not happen?

It's good if ANY animal doesn't smell fear or aggression. My mom taught me how to rescue them from crowds as a little girl, but when I once used them for evil by throwing them individually into the boys restroom after they had the audacity to throw cockroaches and a lizard on me, I got stung 5 times for my aggression. But I was too mad to care. Now am engaged to the lizard-thrower, but after his friends ran out he told me in our adulthood while dating that he had slipped backwards and was taken by the ambulance for a concussion. I remember him coming out slowly with the biggest frown on his face, probably a pain-gramace, and I threw a bee square into his chest as he asked "Why?".

Yeah I definitely would've expected to get stung atleast a couple dozen times over. One day when I was a stupid kid I put a snowmobile suit on with some ski goggles and leather gloves and just went in an old boat and ducked with some hornets. My brother told me they didn't look to happy with my presence and they were swarming all over me. Surprisingly my makeshift bee suit worked.

I find it amazing that they don’t feel threatened by you as you are literally dismantling their home piece by piece and abducting their queen. They will fight a single wasp to the death but when forcibly stuffed into a strange box they say “OK we guess we live here now.” And they carry on telling their sisters where to find the good flowers with no idea they are about to be transported across town and will have no idea where they are. You’re doing important work; I just had no idea that a big colony could be so docile and chill about being relocated. I had no idea that they would be happy living in a suitcase lying on the ground either. At least a dresser is kind of like a condominium and very like the boxes you provide for them.

@@tamara-hi8vp it basically blocks the receptors of the antennas from detecting pheromones from other bees. Think of it like suddenly losing your cell signal. Since no bees can detect an alarm pheromone, they remain calm because they don't have a reason not to be. It's all temporary too, as bees can clean their antennas using their front feet. As soon as they clear the smoke particles stuck on their antennas, they go back to normal. They also have a natural response to smoke where they rush down into the hive and start gorging on their food supplies in case they have to flee due to a fire. Fascinating creatures really!

In another of her videos, she explains it's called "festooning" and they do it when they're beginning to build new comb. The white comb she pulled out was practically brand new, they were very happy and very busy! 🐝
