A swarm of bees moved into this set of drawers and I was called to remove them! I always get the most excited for removals where I get to see the bees building in a place I've never seen them build before, so when I got the call that some bees moved into a set of drawers...it felt like Christmas! (Except it was nearly 100 degrees outside and I wasn't quite sure if I would find the queen!) I hope you enjoy this removal as much as I did. Thank you for supporting me and the bees!

"I opened this drawer and it it was ALSO full of bees" is now my favorite out-of-context quote.
Hahaha..ya just can’t beat an “out-of-contexter”!!
🤣
Bombas socks have bees in the stitching at the tops and honeycomb stitching around the vamp - Every time I open my sock drawer it also is full of beeees 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
I love how ripping apart the hive and dumping piles of them into a box is not threatening enough for bees to start attacking XD
She did smoke them beofre though, if she hadnt they likely would have attacked...
It’s because she’s good at it
@@Alice-si8uz she barely smoked them
smoke masks the alarm pheromones and also the bees are a new colony and don't have much to defend
@@RainAngel111 girl the smoke was literally running out of the container
Hearing her describe the bees as gentle always warms my heart. "And it was another great day for saving the beeees" as well!
A favorite part of many of the videos. I agree.
I'm dying at her just going "Thunk!" with the drawer and all the bees just fall 🤣
I gasped 😂
@@jggold90 I wonder How many were squashed….
@@ChasRiaStJohn why would that squish them?
@@ChasRiaStJohn I assure you, when beekeepers do things like that they always check the edge that will make contact with the box to make sure there’s no bees in the way. Yes in beekeeping some do get squished, but beekeepers are very careful not to squish them. After all, it just takes a couple bees getting agitated to stir the whole hive up
It's oddly satisfying XD
I love when she's says "it was another great day of saving the bees"
Slight correction: "....saving the beeez."
A joy to watch someone be so pleased and excited upon finding the queen. God bless this beekeeper for loving their life's work and the animals they're saving.
I grew up terrified of bees. Watching you save colony after colony, and being so respectful of everything about bees, has completely changed my mind about them. Thank you for saving the bees. After finding you, I’ve watched a bunch of bee vids. You are my favorite. So calm and kind. ❤
I am allergic to bee's, I have no choice but stay away. I also have to use bottles no cans of beverages if I am outdoors. Watch out with using sented shampoo especially flowered they are drawn towards them.
You’re the Bob Ross of bees ... I could watch for hours 🤙🏼 I’ve learned so much , thanks
Funnily enough Bob would at least have shown his artwork afterwards. Where's her bee farm?
If i could only watch one channel for the rest of my lift its gotta be this channel just listening about bees fascinates me
I love when she says "and it was another great day of saving the beeeeeez"
It seems impossible that you can go through that entire process and not get stung even once. I never really thought that bees were out to chase you down and sting you, but just being able to stick your hand blindly into the hive and scoop them out without them stinging you is simply remarkable.
Not really, stinging is a last resort for bees due to their stingers being barbed. Once they sting you, they have to literally rip themselves in 2 just to get off you because their barbs will stick in your flesh. They will only sting when the hive is being attacked usually
I've only recently begun studying bees, although my rural family and friends often kept beehives in their gardens and orchards. So I'm just going by what I've recently observed. I'm planning to move some honeybees that made a hive in an abandoned nightstand or small chest left in a vacant lot. The hive would be okay where they are but passerbys keep harassing the bees and knocking over the hive. So I've been studying it for awhile to find a suitable location, away from this busy suburban boulevard and nearby apartment buildings. Until the most recent incident when the hive box was knocked over I was able to approach very closely without the bees reacting. But now the guard bees come out when I'm within 10 feet. As most beekeeper articles say, this hive appears to have a dozen or so guard bees whose primary job is guarding the hive. When I set the box upright again this week, about a dozen guard bees clung to my veil, gloves and upper body. As soon as I slowly moved away, gently brushing off the guards, most of the guards returned to the hive and didn't call out a swarm. However there's one guard bee who's a little more assertive. Even when I was 10 feet or so away she flew out to smack against me and clung to my veil. I thought it was pretty funny. I imagined her going back to the hive with a pheromone brag about defeating the giant. And when I walked by again the next day to check the hive, only a single guard flew out to me. She bounced against me a few times but didn't try to cling and sting. They seem to literally body slam themselves against perceived threats as a preferred defense, before committing themselves to a sting that's fatal to them. I was concerned about avoiding provoking them into stinging, in order to minimize disturbing the hive. I didn't find any stingers in my clothing later. Anyway, because it's been chilly here I've just worn my usual winter clothing, which is adequate protection against stings. I just wear a makeshift veil over my head, a camo net bag intended for turkey hunting, but works fine for bees.
It's possible if you go very slow. A lot of beekeepers don't have the time so opt to just use suits because they can't take a whole day to move a hive and smoke every 5 minutes. Not saying that she isn't good at what she does because she is amazing, but her secret is time and doing things incrementally slow.
Allegedly bees feel a lot more comfortable and less likely to sting when surrounded by other bees.
@@theparalexview785 A bodyslam as initial attack for bees makes a lot of sense, because any creature intimidated by bees will just immediately go "yo I'm out" at something like that.
Never get tired of watching you be a Bee charmer.
Sexy bee girl is amazing 😍
the only time she ever moves quickly is straight after she spots the queen. so cool
I started beekeeping at the age of 12, ill be turning 15 soon, and my 3rd year of beekeeping will begin next march/april^^ you have deffo been a huge inspiration, and i hope to sooth my bees the way you do to your listeners:)
Is she using pheromones so that the bees don't sting her ?
@@aquibmohd Nope:) What she has is a strong bond towards bees, it takes alot of talent to be able to sense and read a bees emotions and body language. Notice how gentle and slow she is with the bees? and how she seems to scan the balls of bees? she is treating the bees with utmost respect, and reading the bees to make sure she is doing the right thing.
That's awesome! Keep it up!
@@oddlittlebee8022 how do you create a stronger bond with bees? I’ve tried buying them Christmas presents and giving them foot massages but it hasn’t worked 😞
@@Bas_Lightyear You have to be respectful and gentle towards your bees, learn how to read their language, and respond appropriately.
I’d be so worried about accidentally crushing bees during this type of removal. Well done on the rescue! That was a super clean catch on the queen.
truee!! bees are so cool tho.
It happens. You always crush some bees. You cannot prevent it 100 %
I'd be concerned rhat in crushing a bee that the others would swarm....🙈
@@AlexanderBlumenaunot Erika. She moved very very slowly and avoided moving her feet too much or unnecessary. That's why the colony accepted her presence and didn't attack despite what she was doing with them. The only time she will move fast is to catch the Queen when she spotted it. Observe her movement a few more times and you will realized what she was doing is so precious
I love that they hold hands and connect like that! I didn’t know they could do that! 0:45
I was wondering if there's a specific term for bees "holding hands" - i guess it's just "swarming"
@@lellamas2778I think it’s called ‘festooning’!
If the queen bee could speak I would imagine she would sound just like this lady. Soft, soothing, motherly
Absolutely awesome Rogan had her on to bring awareness, education
I absolutely LOVE the smile on your face when youve got the queen. It's just magical to see someone in their element like this.
but beeworks are meant for boys though
@Mimi well its a fact, girls r scared of getting sting by bee, and are scared of insects
By algorithmic magic, your short videos began appearing on my phone. After several views, I became hooked and subscribed. This is the first full length video and it was fascinating as well as educational. Now I can see how and why my brother in law became a beekeeper. Thank you for the time you spent making each video. You get an A plus! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Same experience here, these videos are so relaxing 🙂
Same! Some shorts popped up on my feed and I’ve been hooked ever since! Now I want to get a hive this Spring!
Same same! I could have written your comment: a few shorts, and this was my first full length video, and now I’m hooked, and I also have a brother-in-law who keeps bees! 😆
These rescue 🛟 videos of:saving the bee”s from a drawer is:simply amazing!I”m sure, these bee”s are very glad 🙂 to have a new home 🏡 that they can live in?
Can we all just take a minute to express how talented and brave this lady is. Not one bee keeping suit or mask in sight. Knowledge and a calm hand is all that was needed. Incredible
I think human body's can build a resistance to bee stings - the more you get stung.
She is just adorable and a really good person. The bees know.
The excitement when you saw the Queen was amazing! You grabbed the clip off your shirt without a second thought and caught her right away.
Thank you for helping me with my fear of bees!!!! I can now see the difference of “gentle” bees and the crazy yellow jackets!! Thank you so much!! Truly!! Being afraid of bugs is exhausting!!!!! They’re everywhere!! But this is 1 less bug to bee scared of ❤️❤️❤️❤️🐝🐝🐝
I am TERRIFIED of bees… like absolutely terrified but that lady is like none other! Are all bees this gentle or just honey bees i wonder
She looks so elegant during her work. I am mesmerized.
Honeybees are so nice. I’ve certainly never scooped them up, but I did have the opportunity to lay the back of my finger across a cluster of bees inside their hive. They were so soft and fuzzy and cozy; it was just an amazing feeling. They didn’t even seem to care that I was touching them!
Don’t they just feel so nice and soft! I love doing that when they visit the hummingbird feeders. Such an amazing thing to feel them.
Erika's lovely face lighting up when she finds the queen, makes my day x love love the bee's 🐝
I wish my college professors had a voice as calming as you do. I could listen to you all day! Thank you!
I don't think many people understand the magnitude of the effects that bees have on everything. Without them every living plant and animal on the planet (including humans) would perish. Bees are the pollinators who make life possible. Thank you for saving the bees and all of us 😍😍😍
Completely wrong, bees are really important for the ecosystem but their extinction would not perish the life of all animals and specially humans
Ground bees do 90% of the pollination not honey bees.
I love how you’re not killing them. Bees are amazing beings and we need them to pollinate our plants. They only sting when they feel threatened and they know that when they sting they lose their stinger and die. Thank you for not killing them!! ❤
Lovely Heart, Lovely Lady 💜 Thank you Erica!
These bees know how to beehave themselves!
The way she jumped to clip the queen I love it! I love hearing her voice
Your love and gentleness for these tiny animals is even sweeter than the honey they make 🐝🍯💙
One of the best parts of watching your videos is your pure excitement when you find Miss Queen. Your whole body just jumps into action and I don't know why but it's very warming. Just such innocent happiness. Thank you for sharing and teaching us😊
The storyteller is like the child books I loved to read 🥰
Amazing! Nice to see women in this field. You have guts scooping them with bare hands. A very low key removal and the natural way to do it. Instructive and entertaining to watch your skilled removal. Thank you!
I love her voice, So soothing. No wonder the Bees won't attack her ! :)💝
this was, for whatever reason, so thrilling and calming at the same time, lol
I find myself sitting quietly and not moving when I watch your videos. Your calm voice and careful motions are absolutely mesmerizing. Thank you for your videos, and thank you for taking care of the bees. The world is a better place with you in it.
So incredible! Thank you for sharing your work!
I'm blown away that you are taking apart their hive, disrupting their work with no protective gear. Blown away!
Absolutely fascinating. The bees are so lucky to have such a gentle soul helping them.
Wow! It’s amazing watching you being so gentle with the bees. Their cones looked new n there was so many bees. As always you did a wonderful job in getting them all. Always enjoy watching you as the bee whisper. ♥️😊👍🌟🌟

I think a dresser makes a great beehive! If I had a place for it, I'd give them one to use. They're pretty
What a lovely comment ❤️
I really love when the bees start their march into the new hive. Its so darn cute!
That saying certainly is true - busy as a bee! One of the honeycomb pieces almost looked like a heart!❤
I always love how excited and focused you get when you see the queen :)
Thank you for this video, you have such a fantastic opportunity to observe where and how honey bees situate themselves in unconventional cavities. I have the same questions for every bee removal, how large was the entrance they were using? Where were they going in? So much pristine white comb. They are incredibly calm, even so, I couldn't get away with that without a veil. I wish you all the best as you continue sharing your bee removal experiences. I guess since they didn't have brood yet, that explains their non-defensive behavior.

I’d love to see more about the process once you get back home!

I've seen her use more than one brood box for a removal, some of these colonies are huge!
Watching this amazing young woman save and relocate bee hives is awesome ❤ Your knowledge and skills to safely remove bees is very impressive.

Creatures like bees and animals know when you are kind and helping them. Brilliant video thanks 👍🇬🇧
When she taps the drawer, does she ever accidentally squish a bee or anything? Just curious cos I'd be so anxious tapping it lol
You're bound to squish a few bees here and there when working with hives. It just happens.
^
I thought if bees got squashed that it would signal to all the bees they are in danger
@@thecsslife If you squash a couple here and there it's no problem.
You'll notice too, that she slightly moves the box she taps it. So she isn't tapping the box on top of bees.
