Just to tempt fate, let’s actually take it a step further in the Se7en comparison and do the match-ups: Wrath: Batman, because “I am vengeance!” Greed: Catwoman, because she loves shiny things and hasn’t fought Batman enough times yet to have an interest in his “utility belt.” Envy: Riddler, because he sees himself as Batman’s friend and equal. Pride: The Court of Owls, because they’ve been running Gotham for centuries. Sloth: Falconers, the old gangster who’s let supervillains take over. Gluttony: Penguin, because he keeps eating up territory for himself Lust: Two-Face, because he represents Harvey Dent’s darkest desires set free (and because giving Catwoman Lust seems like too easy an out) EDIT: To everyone who's commented "What about Chatacter X?" or "Character Y is not in this movie", I made this based off of the characters MatPat listed in the video. There are plenty of Batman characters who are better fits to the 7 Deadly Sins (Envy is obviously Clayface) but these 7 were the ones MatPat used so I wanted to build on his theory.

The tell tale batman series had this story line where Bruce's dad was neck deep with the mob
would be interesting if in the end, the murder of his parents was an act of revenge from somebody who was severely wronged by their crimes. maybe even lost his/her own family members. and left their child alive, because they couldn't do it out of their moral. Making the person who killed his parents, a better person than they were. the kind of person batman would protect, against people like his parents.

The thing with having 6 or more villains, they don't need to feature extensively and have an indepth storyline. They can use it as a way to introduce a villain to the universe, they don't even have to have an interaction with Batman during the movie because if they do it skilfully enough then they can simply tee up the sequels and have a trilogy or more of movies which interweave between themselves.
They could set up two face for two
I hope the Joker shows up at some point. Yes, I've heard people say that they're sick of the Joker, but I think we need him more than ever in this day and age. This video makes me think of Batman: The Long Halloween. In that storyline Batman is constantly one step behind a killer named Holiday who commits a series of murders on 13 holidays in the course of just over a year. The focus of the story is the conflicts between the old families of Gotham. There is even a point where Bruce Wayne is tied in as possible accomplice to one of the suspects. The more recent trailers have seen Bruce being called out for not doing enough to help the poor, so maybe he is targeted by someone stomping out greed in the city.
At risk of sounding like a complete moron: What if when Riddler tells Batman "You're apart of this too" he means because Batman only takes down low-level thug criminals instead of the corrupt elite of Gotham, he is unknowingly allowing the corrupt high status individuals in the system to continue to function behind the scenes.
I don't know, if it was year one and he stuck to petty thugs or something maybe, but if this is truly a detective driven story it's not a stretch for him to already know there's higher corruption. The issue then becomes how far reaching and deep it is.
The "you'll see" response in the end doesnt seem to add up with your theory... But HEY...

The Dark Knight had Joker, Scarecrow, Two-Face, and Falcone as villians, two of them being minor.
Yes I also assume most of the villians will be there just to set the tone and get people hyped to recognize them. It would be a fail if they did a 1960s batmovie style teamup or spend the time having batman take down multiple different plots throughout nthe film.
Falcone was in dark knight? Never noticed that, that’s cool
@@raptorman4035 He got lifted up by the bat.
Falcone wasn’t in dark knight. That was maroni
It is because The Joker takes the focus of all audiences and no one does actually realise there are alot of villains. So in a way Heath Ledger's performance is what made this a masterpiece.
Here we are on the eve of The Batman and some right, some wrong. Good job MatPat and team!
Great job matt! You got pretty much everything right excepted for the owl thing, and two-face, but other than that good job! 👍
Literally everything he predicted is wrong, you have to flip the entire theory upside-down to get something remotely similar. Riddler is the one that had a mental breakdown in the end, while Batman made peace with himself. He thought Batman would be condemned as criminal, but the ending is exact opposite, Batman was embraced as the savior that literally and figuratively lead people into the light.
The riddler says, “your apart of this too...” he’s talking about the court of owls bc they exist within Wayne Interprise and several memeber of the council at Wayne Interprise are members of the court of owls. That’s also why he says, “what is the price of ur blind eye...” he’s talking about how Bruce fails to see that they exist within his own company
I think what he means by that is that the justice system is very corrupt and people within it turn a blind eye to crime. He knows batman works with that same corrupt justice system and believes batman has a point where he will turn a blind eye to crime. But your theory is interesting nonetheless. I'm very excited for the movie.
lord donk Batman doesn’t work with the police in the movie. They are having a “truce” it happens all the time in the first 2 years of Batman’s career in the comics.
@@dustinthewind4516 how could they have a truce and not be working together? I assume at the very least he is speaking with gordon. Not sure how close to the comics this will be.
lord donk I believe it’s a temporary truce. And this is ONLY year 2.
@@dustinthewind4516 I see. Hopefully the movie is as good as the trailer. I definitely get the lex luthor "if god is all powerful than he cannot be all good and if he is all good he cannot be all powerful" vibe from the riddler. With the riddler in place of lex and batman in place of superman. I think the riddler believes batman is corrupt or corruptable. Maybe that fight scene is actually at the start of the movie and thats what makes the riddler target him. Maybe the riddler sees a difference between justice and brutality. Maybe he thinks there cannot be justice that is motivated by vengeance.

Can I just say mat Pat your thought process in these predictions is usually very logical and accurate. the results vary because of the details you add but honestly I'm always impressed even you movie references were spot on . 👏 Bravo
I'm really excited to see the Riddler put in a modern Batman movie since the only time we actually got to see him in modern DC was Gotham and I loved his transformation from Nygma to Riddler . Really excited to see how they will make a more realistic and mysterious Riddler .
To be fair, the "last cinematic appearance of the Riddler" was technically the Gotham TV series. He was exceptionally portrayed in that show.
"Cinematic", "TV Series". Pick one..
@@thatdude034 Cinematic or cinematography refers to the art of creating motion pictures. "TV Series" is in a different medium but it's still cinematography.
You can hate me. He was better than Carey. That was due to the sub par cheesy writing in the 90’s before super hero films gained respect from The Dark Knight. It wasn’t Carey’s fault. It was the writers.
Gotham was not good
@@fizzrpg9961 gotham was a great show.
I honestly want this movie to be the best batman film, or at least so good it's tied with The Dark Knight. RP has proven himself to be an incredible actor from what i've seen of 'The Lighthouse'.
We ignore Twilight because he himself resents being in the film

DC can't even follow the blueprint of their great animated movies. But hopefully your right.
I think they're very happy with Kaz. On a related note, does anyone expect a Mighty Med theory any time soon?
dc trend to be better when they not doing kidy thing...
When you hear that this movie will be a “noire detective” movie you know the Court of Owls will be a part of it. Just based on how popular dark detective shows are like True Detective.
Too soon for them, what we hear that story will focus on corruption in police
@Matheus Lopes Garcia We don't know
It’s really impressive on spot on this theory was! I’m really looking forward to the follow up on this theory.
Very very close but you got derailed with the Court of Owls. Nice try either way. I'm really glad that you were not right haha.
Missed opportunity to say "Two Face might probably show his "FACES" somewhere"
I thought that too lol

12:29 I love how this was literally the exact opposite of what we got
This would actually work because of the riddler second riddle from the movie ""If you are justice, please do not lie, what is the price for your blind eye?" The answer is innocence
Austin Kingery I don’t see how the answer is that
I heard it was Lady Justice who is blindfolded, and no offense but Innocence doesn’t really fit into that riddle.
I dunno what you guys mean it makes some sense.
Justice is often depicted blindfolded and not able to see, as justice should be blind. However, turning a blind eye means ignoring undesirable information. If justice is to be blind and only care about the truth, is truth only that of what is most convenient or desirable? And at what cost to Gotham/society?
He's asking what's Batman's price for turning a blind eye to daytime crimes such as corruption and only focusing on night time crimes.
I was expecting Mat-Pat to put his face on Robert Pattinson during the scene he beats the crap out off that thug. Who are you? I’m Bat-Pat!
Bat-Pat Lol. Good one.

Or even better, the goon who gets beat up was "Childhood innocence" and "Who are you?!" "I'm film theory"
