Get yourself some NEW Theory Wear!! ► bit.ly/2N1m7V7
This year we are getting a seemingly brand new take on the classic Batman villain, the Joker. This version stars Joaquin Phoenix as a failed comedian named Arthur Fleck - a new name for the old character. People are saying it's a whole new origin story for the Joker and I think that's true... but maybe not in the way most people are thinking. I think this Joker is not actually REAL! What do I mean? You're about to find out!

  • But joker claims in the movie that he didn't have any intentions of being the figurehead of the rebellion, he only did what he did because people were just being jerks. So with that, I don't think the uprisings are his fantasies because he says he didn't want/intend for this to happen. He wouldn't fantasize about something he didn't want. (but still a great theory because you only used the trailer)

    • I think he just said that. Everyone wants to feel important. Think of the scene where he looks at the paper with the drawing of "him" on it and looks sly and happy and kinda looks around like he has a cute little secret he wishes he could tell. His expression says everything. He liked the attention, however indirect. He was a man who felt overlooked and underappreciated and ignored and he felt like he was finally being seen in some form. He might not have wanted to start a movement, but he definitely wanted to be important in some way.

      @DanteYewToob@DanteYewToob3 жыл бұрын
    • But is clearly show he liked being the unknown clown who started everything, so maybe yeah the protests started due in part to his actions and maybe no one started wearing clown mask but maybe he just imagined that way to make himself feel powerful

Wayne is rich and powerful enough to get people to forge the adoption documents for appearance reasons, just as Penny said Wayne made her signed a document to keep her mouth shut. Just in case Penny actually came out to speak about the Joker's paternity, despite the signed document, for insurance, Wayne forged the adoption papers.

    • @@XxXNightcoreQueenXxX Honestly, I thought it was more fitting that he was adopted. Not because I need it to stick to status quo, but because it's what drives him over the edge. When he thought Wayne could be his father, it gave him hope for his future, a plot twist that turned him into a somebody. But every chance he gets closer to the truth, he gets pushed back time and time again, building up that anticipation, making the pay off that much sweeter. He finally gets his hands on his mother's files, risks his well being on this big reveal that everyone tried desperately to keep from him... And he sees it for himself... He's not Thomas Wayne's son. He's not Penny Fleck's son. He was never important. It was just the delusions of a sick women who lied to him his whole life. He isn't even Arthur Fleck. He's... Nobody. It's a cruel punchline that drives him over the edge as he embraces the only thing he has left... Negative thoughts. But of course, that's just my thoughts on it.

So there's this guy trying to become Joker but he doesn't get any traction, and manages to inspire the "real" Joker. Maybe the younger one thinks this Joker is just crazy, but then has the iconic backstory happen and realizes that this Joker is right. Something like that.

The entire movie seemed like Joker was telling a story about HIMSELF but drastically dumbed down the evil shit to portray himself as more good. Hopefully they show us how he really is by starting the movie off with the ending of the first end. He looked a lot more sinister when he told the doctor she wouldn’t get the joke

    @gvarela9987@gvarela99874 жыл бұрын
    • I agree he did look more sinister at the end. I thought that Pheonix was a great Joker but you only saw it at the end if the film. For the majority of the film though he's Arthur Fleck and while it's an origin story and similar to The Killing Joke in the sense if being a sympathetic background, it's not completely believable that he is The Joker. The ruthlessness, cunning and genius of the character is too absent. Seems like a sympathy story The Joker is spinning. Could be partly true, but not completely.

  • Penny Fleck’s name is the key to why Arthur becomes misunderstood. It is a metabolic disorder that causes copper to build up in the organ tissues due to the lack of ability to expel the excess. Organs affected can include the eyes and brain. In later stages diagnosis can be made by undergoing a specialized eye exam to reveal copper (penny) colored flecks is the iris or even a ring around the iris. While Penny was just trying to hang on to her job and sanity, she became vulnerable. Author came along unexpectedly, and she was no match for the powerful and wealthy with connections.

    • Kaizo Audio it's possible, but it would throw me off a little. The Joker origin has him actually lose his wife, his unborn child, and his sanity in less than 24h. If the mother is real, it'll feel more tangible. Otherwise, it might seem as if Joker wasnt a person the audience could become, in a sense. It's more effective if there is a real problem that motivates the final derailment of the character's mind.

    • @@nivaldomonte5441 Firstly, the killing joke is presenting one possibility, his origin is multichoice for a reason. And two let's not forget he's insane, sadistic and we are not supposed to identify with him. People keep forgetting the joker is a bad guy for a reason. He's not an antihero, he's just barely sympathetic. He's still EVIL

      @1999_reborn@1999_reborn4 жыл бұрын
    • There is an external world, but it is how we perceive the world and make it what it is to our own individual selves. If I touched a leaf, the feel of it may be different from that of someone else because of their brain reacting to the texture, as all other living things may react differently to it. The way we perceive the world individually is what the world is in our perceptive reality, but may not be and most likely is not the world for what it truly is, and we may never know what it truly is. It is based off of what we know from our senses and perception of those senses.

  • I still hold firm that the whole movie was in Arthur's head. None of it actually happened. He was in the hospital the whole time. That whole theory started the second there's a flash of him smacking his head off his cell door while he is apparently sitting with his case worker at the beginning of the film. I could be wrong, that's the magic of ambiguity. Really don't want a sequel, it will have to answer questions. It's the equivalent of making The Thing 2. No one wants it, it's not needed. Leave it be, and you have created something brilliant, beautiful and unique.

  • I think that the way King of Comedy and Joker blurring reality and fiction is an amazing way of showing the darkness in these mental illnesses. The way that the characters can’t tell the difference between truth and fantasy is reflected on audience experience, and it makes people confused, reflecting how these people live every day, always questioning and struggling.
