He was the one who took immediate action to bring clergy who have cohorst young men and young women into sexual relationships with them. Pope John Paul II insisted upon those clergy who perpetrated these evil acts are prosecutor to the full extent of the law. Sinead was a wack job from the start. She chose to be an arrogant person by doing that stuff on SNL. Face it, a lot of "popular" singing stars who are also activists shoot themselves in the foot sooner or later and then they dissapear.

Edit: I get what some of y’all are saying, but y’all are missing the point of my comment. It’s the fact that Janet’s career faced the repercussions of the incident (accident or on purpose), but not Justin’s, who was the one who pulled the piece off in the first place, or at least the person who designed the outfit. Imo, the resulted backlash definitely was due to either a race thing, a gender thing, or a combination of the both as well as Janet being a Jackson. I'm sorry, I have no problem with the incident itself... but to try and lie your way out of it after the fact. The people who got mad at the boob were prudes, and probably a few racists who weren't mad at the boob itself, but the fact that it was a black woman's boob. I was 100% on their side until that "wardrobe malfunction" farce. She should have just owned up to it. Her early stuff was just poppy r&b stuff. Her later stuff was sexed up. Which exploded her career for a while. She posed topless with someone holding her naked boobs for the album "Janet". I repeat that was - not - a "wardrobe malfunction".

My acting career has been small potatoes compared to (most!) others, but even at regional level i never worked with anyone who walked off for any reason, even gastric! Never seen a school play where someone did that, tho I know it happens. (Experience at that level is invaluable. A cast is stronger when the more experienced players help guide the newcomers.) I’m curious about pre-show rehearsals. How many, and what days, how those went, was there much communication between performers & crew. There is no substitute for rehearsal.
