  • As a Japanese person who grew up going to Kumon every single fucking day, yes it was a detention center. Thing is, where I went to was literally 3 minutes from my house so when I looked even a tiny bit bored, my mom would come over being like "Well you look *bored* . Since you have *so much time on your hands, why don't you go to Kumon and study in the study rooms?* " (the study rooms are like rooms where ppl do their homework, or just plain studying. they have it to 'provide students a quiet area to work in a healthy environment'. No eating, no drinking, and DEFINITELY no phones allowed at all.) and let me tell you, it was shit edit: thanks so much for the likes and the mutual pain that we share here

Granted, i used a calculator at school, and i am talking about simple math calculations, but playing tabletop games with lots of thrown dices that you have to quickly tell apart and calculate results again and again made me really fast with basics sums and multiplications.
