In this video we're building a mid century modern coffee table. We have complete plans available for this table on our website and the project covers several woodworking topics such as wood selection, milling, panel making, creating custom jigs, cutting steep angles, making miter splines and much more.

hiding out in the fridge. i always knew chris was a ... cool guy.
Put me on ice baby
So that's why these videos are so chill.
As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement kzhead.infoUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!
This is one of the few channels I truly appreciate both content and Cinematography. Thank you for awesomeness.
Thanks so much :) Glad you enjoy it!
BUT adding music to a work channel is like saying my voice and work is so boring I need extra noise
You guys need to make a "Thicknii: shirt and/or stickers!
it's been bandied about
@@Foureyes.Furniture If that happens more than once, Is that "bandii"?
Man i love the dynamic of you two! Those "nonsense"-scenes in between make the content even more enjoyable, than it already was :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Watching you doing wood working is like listening to music, really nice process and works too! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Chris (and Shaun) for the amazing videos. I am gravitating to this channel more and more as days go by. You combination of amazing cinematography, relaxing music and narration is a welcome break from the more usual "I'm so excited to build something new" kind of vibe (not that there's anything wrong with it, but I am a mellow guy, so I like mellow videos I guess). I hope that some day, I will be able to have my own space and time (and some tools) to make some stuff on my own, and your videos, work methods and design philosophy are very appealing to me, so I'll keep watchin', if you keep buildin'. Thanks.
Wow, your table design is so beautiful. It looks ver ysculptural, meaning the proportions are well considered from every angle. I appreciate how you explain how you make things, and also show alternatives. I appreciate the fine cinematography and built in jokes too.
Really, really, really like this one Chris. Very clean, crisp, and accurate. A wonderful example of a great piece of furniture!
Awesome! Thank you!
your videos have greatly improved over the years Chris. It's a delight to see your work, both with wood, and cinematography. Love it :)
You guys are a freaking hoot. I've been watching both y'alls vidjas for a while now, and am still so happy you teamed up. My dream woodworking youtube duo (/shop lead and assistant)
Thank you Chris and Shaun for the inspiration. Your work is beautiful.
Thanks for watching!
Love the way you explained the slight changes you made to the design from your original.
Thanks so much!
That is absolutely beautiful. As always, thanks for bringing us along.
I just discovered your channel and I LOVE YOUR CONTENT!!! You guys are great; love your humor, and wit -- but ALSO amazed at your talent!!!! Incredible designs! Amazing!!!! Thank you for your content! It's wonderful.
Such a beautiful table and entertaining video. As an amateur wood worker, I am constantly inspired by your design, attention to detail, and desire to share your craft. Happy 2021!
I’ve been woodworking for around five years. Still kinda new. You have crazy skill!! Thanks for the awesome video.
Love this! Your designs are always so elegant. I think this would look amazing as a walnut table with a contrasting wood color for the splines and miters
Thanks. Those are definite possibilities.
I'm watching this again to get ideas on how to do the joinery on a similar table I'm making for our kitchen. I found that making sled jigs with hot glue is a lot faster and more reuseable while still holding everything just fine :)
I like your design changes too; the splined miters, the stretchers & legs. Always learning, always growing.
Glad you like them! Thanks Karen :)
Wow! That design is so precise and still so light to the eye, there are so many details you can look at and are still finding new ones again. Great piece of furniture from you guys! Keep on rolling 👌🏻
Nice work Chris! Love seeing the old table brought back to life!
Thanks 👍
It's always satisfying to improve a design, you've done well to do it on aesthetics, mechanics, and production. Excellent video, thanks for sharing
Beautiful table. Watching for the third time.
Nice. Third time is the charm 😊
Great work! I was fascinated by the way you look at those angles. Nice joints! A modern coffee table indeed! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Cheers!
Many woodworkers have an awesome skillset, but they lack a taste in the aesthetic department. You guys actually got skill and it always looks so great!
Wow, thank you!
Unreal. This is one of my favorite channels. Thanks for all the hard work.
Awesome design! Love the improved look. The flow and proportions are spot on.
Thank you! Cheers!
Way to go guys! Thanks for sharing another amazing build, True inspiration!
Our pleasure!
Amazing work, enjoyable to watch, motivational, professional. Great work guys!
Thank you very much!
Waow...just beautiful !!! Thank you so much for the design lesson, I love your style !!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice build, nicely described with nice music in the background. Love it.
As a furniture engineer, testing furniture to BIFMA standards, I really enjoyed the simplicity of your test and test setup 👍
That’s beautiful I love mid-century modern!
Very nice! I am moving and need a new coffee table and this is EXACTLY what I had in mind! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
This is the highest level of workmanship. Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Germany and stay healthy.
Thank you
Congratulations on the content, the videos are very relaxing and well done! Your designs are amazing, the details make all the difference. Again, congratulations, awesome videos!!!
8:26 tiny things like this makes the content you guys make so much more fun to watch
“Thickni” gets me every time!
It's a classic
modifiquen. La producción de sus videos, enfocarse en el producto. y no en imágenes distractivas y aburridas. (consideren el idioma en español).
In the fwiw category (and because harmless contrarianism is fun), since we speak English rather than Latin the proper ending would in fact be "es" rather than "i" according to the Modern Language Association. They also suggest "indexes" rather than "indices" (and appendixes rather than appendices) for the same reason; English pluralizes words that conclude with an "s" sound using the "es" ending. But MLA also recognizes English as a dynamic language, so as long as successful communication occurs it doesn't really matter.
Great Video, as always! I Like the spline choice. I use your Simple Finish, good stuff. Thanks guys!
Awesome, thank you!
Love the under-bevels man, I used them on my Belfry Table. Under-Bevels make everything look better!
Thank you, thank you for the pocket hole!
You are so welcome!
Nice table, great video. I understand the pleasing to the eye aspect. I wanted a specific curve one time but couldn't find a template to trace. That's when I realized I could freehand it better than using a template. I also think you guys need a couple of shock collars and whenever one of you says thicknesses, the other can zap you (lol). Have a safe and Happy New Year. Bill
Thanks Bill...We will look into those collars :)
Exquisite design! I also learn a lot from your discussion of design decisions and choices.
Thank you very much! I like including it for sure. We'll see how people react
I absolutely love this! Yes, made of walnut against my crisp white pottery!!!
Great explainatory graphics, nice work on the vid and I love the table - it looks architectural
Chris this video is the funniest one i think I've ever seen on your channel. 10/10 way to go. Great quality content!
Wow, thanks! We alway try to be funny. Sometimes we succeed :)
Sam Maloof would be proud of your work. It's that beautiful and poetic
Awesome film. The fridge skit was so funny. Appreciate the extra effort. Love the changes to the table. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Thanks so much!
I came here right after watching your Rejected Wood video. The legs are such a fascinating design, so thanks for the great videos and ideas.
Beautiful design, Chris - as always. 😀
That gag got me so good. Easily the best one you guys have done. I literally came back to watch the video again partially to see that gag xD
A big thank you for introducing me to Taku Yabuki, simply ...WOW.
It's so fun to watch woodworking vids of someone who is also interested with fashion. Makes the video a lot more interesting.
I love Shoes and then woodworking...in that order :) I need to make some wooden shoes
So clean and beautiful design! And so inspiring! Hoping to find the currage and skills to do this table...
You can do it!
@@Foureyes.Furniture Hoping my T-shirt comes soon...
Nice build. Always good to see a new video from you guys.
Thanks Rob....hope you enjoyed :)
Man! This is an awsome video! So beautifull as your work. Thanks for sharring
Beautiful work…looking forward to your other videos
Nice one - elegantly proportioned design. I've got a glass circular table top that I'd like to make some similar legs for
Loved the table...the fridge moment was hilarious! 🙋🏻♀️💕🇬🇧jane
The thumbnails do make a huge difference, looks amazing!
I just finished a coffee table completely inspired by you guys. I used a template and router to make the legs.
Awesome! Hope it turned out great!
That's our classic move
Beautiful work as always!
Elegant and strong... really lovely.
Thank you! 😊
You know, I used to think the Woodwhisper had the best YT videos and content. Don't get me wrong, he's pretty good but you guys add a whole new element in design, filming and editing. Love your show!
Your comfort with your sneakers in the wood shop is crazy
Great editing, love the video and design!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you for the classic foureyes video format :)
More to come!
This is beautiful, very elegant.
The video and the build is amazing. I wish I had access to my tools right now to attempt this build. As I’ve just watched the Longview dining table video I’m wondering what a slightly rounded top would look like on the table.
Hey I am a new carpenter and I am working with my boss I love woodworking and I love your videos keep it up
You are not making furniture. You are creating a poetry in wood...!!
Beautiful piece of art.
Thank you! Cheers!
Cinematic*** And I love your work!
COOL!
Great build and beautifully shot as always Chris. Plus nice shoes and glasses.
Almost head to toe...the rest i just kind of ignore :)
Love the delicate elegance
Got used to amusement in those vids and in comments section. And I want to take a step back and say that this table is museum-of-modern-art-worth piece of furniture. Perfect.
IT IS A WORK OF ART MY, FRIEND ! IM INSPIRED BY YOUR GIFT AND OF COURSE YOUR HUMOR..
Best video yet. What a stitch!
Love this. I’m a I’m a firm believer that three legs > four legs for coffee table I’m buying these plans for that floating tenon jig alone. Speaking of triangular coffee tables and improving prior designs....haha.
The fewer the legs, the better the table
I was watching the video and at the same time looking for spare parts for my table saw, I came back to see the bathrobe scene, laughed out loud and knew, i missed a lot, so back to the start. Great as always guys.
haha...you missed a ton :)
Well the 2 of you don’t carry a whole lot of weight when testing the strength of joints 😂. Love your builds!
We're a combined 320 or so :)
Thank you guys for this awesome video!
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching :)
Absolutely beautiful
My living room and dining room are one space. I think that it would be awesome to have the coffee table and a dining room table of the same design!
The iterative design process in action! The improvements make a difference, man. Well done! It's gone from a beautiful table to a highly resolved, frankly, stunning table. It's pleasing, just how much that detail of making the joints symmetrical cleans up the visual alignment. I designed and built a similar project with an older (and much better) craftsman at our college and had half laps in the original design. He convinced me to use bridle joints and it made the same profound difference when the visual axes lined up. Worth all the hassle! P.s. I'd be so tempted to sneak something really dark, like walnut or merbau in as the floating tenons. A little surprise for the truly pokey-nosed. :-)
Amazing table and super cool
Glad you like it!
Perfect!
Everything is perfect, especially your shoes
Gorgeous
Great table Chris, and love those orange Nike shoes.
I'd like to see more tips on special joints, like where the legs join the cross piece. It was awesome that you showed us how strong it was!
That won't happen in their videos anymore but if you spring for the overly expensive plans you'll get what you need. In fact they now deliberately avoid giving as much detail as they could as every bit of this channel is monetized.
In their defence I really like their stuff, both of them are great designers and one of them is a pretty good woodworker. I just think it's sad that it has lost its simple roots. As soon as I see a load of Woodpeckers gadgets I know the people have sold out. I come back to check out the designs but with the sound off and my finger lingering on the fast forward button.
Wait is over ♥️🙌
I would really like to see a dinning table with these design features. I like the solid yet light airy look the legs with the floating table top give the design.
Breathtaking
Great video as always.
Thanks again!
Holly crap, you guys are awesome! Question. How do you deal with expansion and contraction attaching the top with the floating tenons? Thanks for the videos, they are spectacular!
