  • Wonderful build... and for those wondering about the plans, stop over-thinking and get a set now. You'll have no regrats..er, regrets. I've built a few from their plans and was able to easily extrapolate what I learned into some additional furniture custom to me.

  • Chris, the care you guys take in each build (and the humour and humility you show and frankly, wear on your sleeve at all times) makes each of these videos an absolute treat to watch. Some of the things I have learnt and applied without even thinking about it, I can often attribute to something I have seen in one of your videos.

    • Hey Shane...appreciate that. It's funny. We just put out a new "woodworking tips" video this morning, and my bonus tip was to "Stop watching tips videos and go watch some projects". The sentiment was similar to what you mentioned. All project videos have plenty of tips in them...and seeing them within the context of actually building something is way more impactful than just collecting random tips. I don't know if people will take that tip...but I tried :)

  • Went to vo-tech for residential carpentry, grade 10-12. Really fell out of love with it because framing cookie cutter houses wasn't what I really wanted to do for a career. Now, many years later, your videos and that delightful random philosophic rambling you do got me falling back in love with the craft on a hobby level. Thank you guys so much, I will definitely be checking out your templates if there's an idea there that my Mennonite buddies can't provide on their own,

  • The main reason I like watching your videos isn't the project in itself.... It's, you.... And what I mean by that is, I like how humble you are and I like how, yes you are selling something but you don't act like a salesman. You give complete and total freedom of choice to your viewers, and that is something very rare these days on KZhead. And, (definitely not a side note) of course your furniture is absolutely out of this world beautiful.... So, Thank you I 100% appreciate that, and I love watching you work. Your level of craftsmanship is insane good, very entertaining to watch. So, thank you for that also. Take care, stay safe out there. ~Jonny5🥁

  • Amazing! I’m not a woodworker, I watched a few of your videos to give myself an idea of how competent I would be at a particular job or project based on my current skills & equipment. I therefore have no “built in” opinions, correct methodology or critiques. I do have extensive experience in viewing You Tube instruction videos. So here’s my two cents: You guys should make “How to make How to make Videos “ 😊 Your videos contain the correct ratio of images to tasks. i.e. No sped up footage of 25 nails being hammered etc Your voiceovers, as stated by other viewers, are calm, rational & seperate facts from opinions without bias or judgement of other’s preferences. You’re dry humour is well executed and integrated without detracting from the task at hand. Possibly one of the best examples of Videos That Tick All The Boxes I’ve seen on the internet. It’s like watching the Love Children of Jamie Hyneman & Adam Savage build things, and I mean that as a sincere compliment. Thanks for what you do, you’re good at it. 😊👍🙏❤️

Rather than add support under the centre rail I went with steel C channel (the smallest I could get) as nobody would ever see it. It worked perfectly with no perceptible sag and leaves plenty space for under bed storage.

What it is, is your voices, pleasant I may say, describing step by step what you do and why, and all other stof and details, in a way so even I can follow all the way. I am not a woodworker, but I'm considering very much to become one, at list as a hobby. Maybe. I hope. I know is not that easy, nothing is, but for now it is very relaxing watching you, and is like allmost smelling the fresh wood cut, if it makes any sens 🤔 Anyway, I don't know what the future brings, but I know for sure that you guys are very talented at making furniture and telling others how to do it. • Love the design, clean and light; great video as well! A challenging compromise for the legs, make them look great or hide them a little so you might not stub your toes. I think having the legs noticeably stick out is better than blending them in at the corner of the bed (straight down), at some point you will program yourself to walk around them as they are easily seen. Question - in your design iterations did you consider not laminating the pieces together to make a solid headboard and leaving a small gap? With a gap it might compliment the lightness of the rest of the frame.

And the extra “detours” needed for the project to go smoothly like the table saw sled and router template jig. BTW, what did you use to finish the oak?

My recommendation would be to put LED bed lights under the bed, so you have a fighting chance at night. These kits are available for under $20 on amazon and really are very helpful, they have a motion sensor and an adjustable timer for how quickly they turn back off. We have one in our bathroom too. 👍🏻
