Wonderful build... and for those wondering about the plans, stop over-thinking and get a set now. You'll have no regrats..er, regrets. I've built a few from their plans and was able to easily extrapolate what I learned into some additional furniture custom to me.
100% agree! I have used the knowledge from the plans I have purchased to build other items and they came out better for it!
Awesome to know! thanks for sharing
Appreciate the kind...and unprovoked...endorsement of the plans/courses. I can understand how people might be skeptical when it's me talking about "how great they are", so it's awesome to have actual customers chime in. Your check is in the mail. Just kidding...again. unprovoked :)

As someone who works in audio I gotta say... Your voice overs are some of the cleanest on KZhead. And I appreciate the effort you put into them.
Chris, the care you guys take in each build (and the humour and humility you show and frankly, wear on your sleeve at all times) makes each of these videos an absolute treat to watch. Some of the things I have learnt and applied without even thinking about it, I can often attribute to something I have seen in one of your videos.

Hey Shane...appreciate that. It's funny. We just put out a new "woodworking tips" video this morning, and my bonus tip was to "Stop watching tips videos and go watch some projects". The sentiment was similar to what you mentioned. All project videos have plenty of tips in them...and seeing them within the context of actually building something is way more impactful than just collecting random tips. I don't know if people will take that tip...but I tried :)
As someone who has also taken college courses and have a degree in industrial design, you are 100% correct in saying your content is far more informative than anything I learned in school! Great content!
Again an amazing lesson of woodworking, and I really appreciate the metric measurements added, it's something small but really helpful 👍🏼
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
Glad it was helpful!
Went to vo-tech for residential carpentry, grade 10-12. Really fell out of love with it because framing cookie cutter houses wasn't what I really wanted to do for a career. Now, many years later, your videos and that delightful random philosophic rambling you do got me falling back in love with the craft on a hobby level. Thank you guys so much, I will definitely be checking out your templates if there's an idea there that my Mennonite buddies can't provide on their own,
Massachusetts?
".. and until then, you can sleep on it.". Gotcha! The final look was way better than I imagined
Excellent, this will be a project for my 16 yo son and I!
What a cool dad.👍
Really nice, Chris. No disparaging remarks, just a genuine compliment. Bill
I am not a carpenter, but I really enjoy watching you build and I love your philosophy ❤
Glad you enjoy it! Appreciate that.
That is beyond beautiful, anyone can slap an IKEA bed together, but it takes something else to make one with such detail and dedication. Amazing work
I love so many of your designs and they all carry a similarity but this is bar far my favourite. It’s a truly stunning bed, beautifully set off by the white oak. Thank you.
I always like your builds. But I think what I like even more is your style of narration. Good job, guys!
So grateful for the metric measuring system, means a lot,it gets hard trying to really imagine when I hear a ¼inch lol
The main reason I like watching your videos isn't the project in itself.... It's, you.... And what I mean by that is, I like how humble you are and I like how, yes you are selling something but you don't act like a salesman. You give complete and total freedom of choice to your viewers, and that is something very rare these days on KZhead. And, (definitely not a side note) of course your furniture is absolutely out of this world beautiful.... So, Thank you I 100% appreciate that, and I love watching you work. Your level of craftsmanship is insane good, very entertaining to watch. So, thank you for that also. Take care, stay safe out there. ~Jonny5🥁
Another beautiful piece, Chris~! I totally agree with your "stance" perspective on having the headboard being a bit wider than the footboard. A very subtle design feature. Very nicely done~!
Absolutely beautiful - and was explained in a way that makes anyone feel as if they could do it
I started following your channel when you built the plywood platform bed, and yes, I built it. I just purchased the Longview dining table plans a couple days ago, and now you post this one…my wife is going to hate me :) keep em coming!
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
Chris, you are a huge inspiration to my woodworking hobby. Thank you.
Chris thanks for making the stand clear about the value of time and the pricing🙏🏽 Stunning build🔥
Incorporating tips and tricks, during construction, is really helpful. I really like the angles in your designs, you guys take a lot of the guesswork out of making those cuts. Thanks
Elegant design. This avoids the usual generic feel of "mid-century" furniture.
Concerning your comment on the cost of your courses. Knowledge is priceless! I went to school for 40 years. (13 years of post Doctoral while working full time). My Dad always said “knowledge is something no one can take from you”. He was right. Learn all you can, please. Thanks Guys!
you are the best, can I ask you about your studies? now I go back to watching the video😁
Solid work. Your build is so clean. I love how confident you are in you plans and you tell people how much work they are to prepare. I can imagine the video takes forever to prepare too. Really Really impressive
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
I think your work is of the absolute highest quality. I look forward to getting some of your courses and learning from you. THANK YOU SIR!
Great design Chris. The level of detail is perfect and much appreciated. You are a good teacher
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
Another great project, design, execution. A clean and beautiful one; nothing misses, nothing in excess. An object made to last forever.
Wish I had the shop and the tools and the skills to do this. I think you’re spot on. Completing something like this is very enriching to the soul, I’m sure.
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
Amazing! I’m not a woodworker, I watched a few of your videos to give myself an idea of how competent I would be at a particular job or project based on my current skills & equipment. I therefore have no “built in” opinions, correct methodology or critiques. I do have extensive experience in viewing You Tube instruction videos. So here’s my two cents: You guys should make “How to make How to make Videos “ 😊 Your videos contain the correct ratio of images to tasks. i.e. No sped up footage of 25 nails being hammered etc Your voiceovers, as stated by other viewers, are calm, rational & seperate facts from opinions without bias or judgement of other’s preferences. You’re dry humour is well executed and integrated without detracting from the task at hand. Possibly one of the best examples of Videos That Tick All The Boxes I’ve seen on the internet. It’s like watching the Love Children of Jamie Hyneman & Adam Savage build things, and I mean that as a sincere compliment. Thanks for what you do, you’re good at it. 😊👍🙏❤️
Absolutely beautiful design. You’re right the stance makes it so much better. Fantastic work as always
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
beautiful work as ever and the observation about 'Stance' rings true in so many facets of design 👍
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
Your workshop is stunning, and you're so talented omg every piece is a masterpiece 💖
Hi Shahinaz I hope my comment didn't sound as a form of privacy invasion your comment tells of a wonderful woman with a beautiful heart which led me to comment I don't normally write in the comment section but I think you deserve this compliment. If you don’t mind can we be friends? Thanks God bless you….🌹🌹
It’s a privilege to watch you work. And your voice is easy to listen to - even the ad and the discussion about the price of the plans - anyone watching this video understands the value!
Yes!!! For the love of all that is good- finally some metric conversions for everyone else in the world to follow! Thanks guys! Love your work!!!
I REALLY appreciate the metrics units showing up.
I have to confess that your designs are not to my personal aesthetic tastes, but I find your design and build processes fascinating and love the care you put into every stage of the process, so I subscribed. I've never been disappointed--you are clearly talented individuals!
Thank you for another great video! They are as always meditating and so informative ! Good luck with all of your projects!
Yet another incredibly beautiful design. All about the stance. Honestly love you guys. Thank you!
Can’t stop watching your videos since I discovered the channel. Love it! I don’t even have the tools to make such beautiful furniture. But I really enjoy to see how you make it. A big thumbs up for every video! And also thanks for the metric sizes. Don’t you ever consider to use it too? To me it feels way way more easy. But I am biased of course.
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
One more amazing piece of work! 😍. And just to let you know I genuinely like all kind of projects! I can always learn something from all of them! Thank you for the effort 🙏🏼
In 46 years of experience I’ve used your technique to cut joinery more times than I can count. It’s a good procedure that insures accuracy. Enjoy your work.
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
I'm not even a woodworker but I love this bed. Video quality and tempo are awesome. Good stuff.
Could have really used this video a year ago! Good work as always. I don’t think I knew how much I needed the better jointer.
Love the color and grain of walnut. Love the bed design as well.
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
Hi guys, I want to thank you to put every mesure in metric. I’m from France and I’ve been watching you guys for quite some times now. And this little détail goes a long way for me. So thank you, for that, obviously but also for your amazing content.
I would pay 1000 bajillion dollars to make something with you. I just don't have that many dollars. Thank you for continuing to be such an inspiration and for making me love what I do in the shop.
Great match with the bed stands, Chris! You (and Shaun!) are my favourite designers/woodworkers, together with Nick from Sawyer Design (he makes awesome builds too)
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
The bed is very beautiful. I like its lightness and serenity!
Love the work the 2 of you do. The effort shows.
I had a similar "make it low" requirement when I made a double bed a while ago. Rather than add support under the centre rail I went with steel C channel (the smallest I could get) as nobody would ever see it. It worked perfectly with no perceptible sag and leaves plenty space for under bed storage.
that's good, cause one wooden support will not work for a king.
That bed will sag in the middle after a while, they tested it with supports under the center rail.
One of my favorites of yours. Beautiful design.
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
Thank you for the stance talk, even for me I wouldn't notice that but I would notice thats its not right, that's why I appreciate your design and your eye for it so much. Great build.
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
Excellent work… it came out absolutely beautiful. Thank you.
I love how you starter to convert your measurements to the metric system :D Keep up the good work :)
Great video Chris, and a beautiful bed design, I found the comments about stance interesting, and think they’ll probably be helpful with the students I’m currently teaching when we’re critiquing their design ideas :)
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
Another awesome build Chris! Beautiful work man!
Thanks , I thought it was ALWAYS a carb issue , mine sounds like that now ! No down time , no $ on labour for service repair !
Thanks for the build. Exactly what I have been wanting to make
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
I really like your clean, simple designs! I see your vision in each and every one. Like a Monet or a Rembrandt, you have a "style", and I like it, I like it a lot!
Always such a pleasure to watch the transformation of raw material into a piece of functional art.
Man, first i thought that "Ishitani furniture" is the best one, probably it is amongst Asian carpenters. You are the top for me in USA :). This bed looks great, the design is perfect. Keep doing your stuff, your aproach in terms of details is maybe exaggerated but the result is on point. You've definitely inspered me, thanks!
I like the way you made the jig to cut the tapers on the legs. Very good explanation, even though I do not need to make a bed.
That toe bit and design was hilarious! Keep up the great work!
Woah getting sponsored by American Home Shield! Thats a huge win!
As a danish woodworker i love the metric conversion in the upper corner. as well as the woodworking of course :)
Beautiful BEAUTIFUL piece of furniture. Totally loved it! I'm gonna procrastinate a lot with your videos.
The free toe saving design is awesome!!
Thanks for the metric units! :-)
^ This. So many US based youtubers forget, or don't care about converting to a unit that basically the rest of the world uses.
Thank you for the metric conversion. It’s much appreciated.
Glad you mentioned all the toe comments. That was my only issue with this beautiful bed frame. GREAT comment on stance! Alas, bashing toes is a deal breaker. Thank you, but still looking.
Thank you for adding the Metric measurements.
I discovered your channel some days ago and it was "love at first sight". I love that there is now yelling and crazy music, and all that. What it is, is your voices, pleasant I may say, describing step by step what you do and why, and all other stof and details, in a way so even I can follow all the way. I am not a woodworker, but I'm considering very much to become one, at list as a hobby. Maybe. I hope. I know is not that easy, nothing is, but for now it is very relaxing watching you, and is like allmost smelling the fresh wood cut, if it makes any sens 🤔 Anyway, I don't know what the future brings, but I know for sure that you guys are very talented at making furniture and telling others how to do it. You don't have to ask ME to subscribe 😉
That's legit a beautiful bed design.
Geez, that frame is nice. I’ve been using that bridge technique for years. In fact, I used today.
The toe skit & free design comment had me cracking up. Thanks for that.
Unreal. I love the evolution of your design!
wow this is a beautiful bed - I'm going to look into proper plans as soon as I have a guest room since it is such a great design and looks reasonable to build with my skillset
Super cool design, guys. Like the choice of white oak with natural finish.
I laughed out loud at the alternative design. Very nice bed and video. Also, crosscut before rip was not obvious to me before I learned it from you in a previous video.
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
Love the design, clean and light; great video as well! A challenging compromise for the legs, make them look great or hide them a little so you might not stub your toes. I think having the legs noticeably stick out is better than blending them in at the corner of the bed (straight down), at some point you will program yourself to walk around them as they are easily seen. Question - in your design iterations did you consider not laminating the pieces together to make a solid headboard and leaving a small gap? With a gap it might compliment the lightness of the rest of the frame.
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
It deserve 5 stars ... not only Like .... very professional job ...awesome design, concept and finishing .. Love it ... thanks dear * * * * *
Nice looking bed Chris! Thanks for sharing it with us!💖👍😎JP
Great work 👍 Beautiful bed !!!
Wow!! bed side table coming next? Can’t wait. Look awesome!!!
Really nice design and nicely paced presentation! I appreciate the step by step sequencing you do so all the parts come out the same size and consistently shaped. And the extra “detours” needed for the project to go smoothly like the table saw sled and router template jig. BTW, what did you use to finish the oak?
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
I’m glad I watched the video before I made my toe-stubbing comment. I’m still making it but I’m acknowledging that you mentioned it in the video. And I DO like the way it looks. My recommendation would be to put LED bed lights under the bed, so you have a fighting chance at night. These kits are available for under $20 on amazon and really are very helpful, they have a motion sensor and an adjustable timer for how quickly they turn back off. We have one in our bathroom too. 👍🏻
Fanatic video!! Thankful for sharing your time and knowledge.
Absolutely beautiful work!
I can't help but notice Jonathan Katz-Moses is a patron of yours. I'm also suspicious that putting him at the bottom of the list was intentional. Love your work, your videos, and your humility!
Nice nice nice - love the design, the oak material and the plans
"...and until then, you can sleep on it." The build was beautiful, but that line made me hit the subscribe button
Cool design! I built one sort of similar a few years ago but put the head about 2.5” higher than the foot to help w/ acid reflux.. 😉
kzhead.info/sun/frWSlqecq4ianYU/bejne.html
11:07 - Nice answer, Chris xD
This is great inspiration for my own bed frame. Thank you
Two years time and never once considered your toes in the build. Nope, only thinking of yourself again!
Such an elegant design and your tutorial was awesome. But your voice is soft and calming it’s made me sleepy so thanks for sharing and good night
awesome! i like the fact you script the mm in the corner to let non-empirial-guys know what your sizes are!
Beautiful design. Bravo!
Been looking for a bed inspiration, looks great, awesome video!!!
