Building a Modern End Table // Side Table // Plans Available
In this video, I show you how I built TWO Modern End Tables (the Sophia Collection) out of quarter-sawn white oak, white oak veneer plywood and walnut. These will be used as end tables (or side tables, depending on your preferred nomenclature) in our house, but they would also make great bedside tables. I love the push-to-open drawers which eliminate the need for drawer pulls and add to the sleek and minimalist modern look. The application of Rubio Monocoat really made the grain on the white oak come to life and I look forward to seeing these every day for many years to come. **See link below for downloadable plans to build your own!

"Oh look, I just need $15,000 worth of tools and I'm only 2 minutes in" It's fine for entertainment purposes, it can be enjoyable to watch a pro do their thing, it's the reason things like pro sports exist. But outside of entertainment value, this is useless to anyone who's not a professional.

  • @ 13:00 "unfortunately the veneers (Dutch word coming from "vaneer"- meaning, literally, "fans", because the Dutch were the inventors of marquetry work- the art of working with veneers) were much redder". Of course they are. The treatment they go through makes them always "pinkier". So yes, you absolutely have to adjust colours. The choice of a greenish ue was the right one. There are two colour families: red, and green. To counterbalance one, you use the other. Nice, clean work , so thumbs up. Signed by an old European cabinet maker.
