While turning around a burned tree stump, I was shocked by what I found inside
What was the point of using burnt wood if you just remove all trace of it? Looked good with the burnt patches before you ground them out.
@MosesOnAcid I agree, especially in the large gap. Sorry NDT but, to me at least. your circular ground out bits looked totally UNnatural. Would have looked much nicer left Black. Having said that, if you want to send it over to the UK, I'll pay the cost. LOL
Indeed. He should have use epoxy and just hollowed out the barrel form
Quite right, M.O.A. The original was much more interesting. It could have been made level in several different orientations as a table base, or left alone simply as an interesting object, indoors or out. “Less is more,” even during in reduction of an object. There is a reason art & craft aren’t the same.
No idea why people are complaining about the burned bits, you left exactly what was needed!! Its stunning, thanks for posting & for saving a beautiful piece wood...
Okay, I loved this piece of wood... Past tense. You sanded off that beautiful black color.. yes, I know it was burnt wood, but it was SUCH a beautiful contrast to the blond wood, wasnt there any way to just lightly sand the black color down and left it?? Or maybe used a clear resin to make it shine??
I agree.
Exactly what I was going to post
Same response here. Ruined the look with all the sanding of the black parts. Looks like a rotten apple now.🤨👎
Well you destroyed that piece, by sanding off the black.
@@dorothydevinney694his art … his choice!
I loved the piece before it was shaped into is final artwork! The wood beforehand was strikingly beautiful! I was very happy with the final result as it shows that being damaged & still beautiful, doesnt mean you stop evolving. Great work! 💞
Very nice. But I think it would have looked better if you left all the black burnt insides alone & sprayed it w/your golden color. All the indentation marks from the little hand drill didn't do it justice.
Burnt and discarded. You brought back the memory of the tree with this beautiful piece. It is now immortal.
It’s very pretty.
So I watched the whole video. where was the shocking thing you found inside? Bunch of BS.
Looked better before you used the ball rotary tool. The burnt looked good.
Agree.
I agree! I thought maybe resin was going in but nope! I feel it was ruined with those big gouges out of burned areas.
I definitely would have left the burnt areas. They were a testament to the extreme heat had endured 😊
Why did you take out the burnt parts? They were gorgeous on there. Gave it character. 😢
Speaking as a maker of things to sell, I would assume that he knows what his customer base likes, and he fashioned this piece accordingly. Art for art's sake is wonderful, but it seldom pays the rent.
What I think about is , what has this tree been through all these years and it took a fire to take it down. Wow.
Its nice but I really loved the black spots. Its your art so you can do what you envision. But the black was really nice.
It looks great and I love what you created out of the wood. You will always have Art critics who don't like something for one reason or another. Have a blessed day and don't forget to Enjoy Life. from Bridgeport Connecticut.
Beautiful "YES A PIECE OF ART"! Don't listen to the negative comments! Stunning 😍 👍
Liked it a lot more with the natural inclusions and burn marks. I understand cleaning them up a bit, but drilling all the round holes in it took a lovely natural work to a much lesser level of beauty and art.
The finished piece looks good. I would have been fine with the black-burn in those hollows but this way looks good too. However, I kept waiting for the live electric cord or some other metal/drastic object to be uncovered ... I did not see anything that would have shocked me inside this piece of wood. While the turning video was good - the title was total click-bait!
Where is the shocking part or is it just Clickbait? I’m glad I fast forwarded it.
My question too.......where's the shocking find ? Standard click bait practice. Won't be back.
Always fast forward
I watched at 2x speed.
Since you don't appreciate art, the vase itself was what was in that burnt chunk of wood ! It was burnt hunk of wood and the vase emerged from it, get it yet ?? 🙄🙄🙄 Gorgeous piece ! Stay on the Maury and Judge Judy feeds please.
Nothing 'shocking'. Ignoring this channel, hate clickbait.
I thought it looked really gorgeous before you took all the burnt wood of of it. Because on phone the non burnt part of the wood looked kinda yellow on my phone screen an the burnt wood with black w😂a With the black was gorgeous
It is great. So what was shocking? Who gives a crap. You made a very beautiful piece of art and if others can't see it, it's their problem. Keep up the inspiration!😍
That is a Masterpiece. It was hidden inside all along, and you coaxed it out of there. Amazing work!
With my woodworking, I don't use any new wood. All reclaimed, salvage, and sawmill scrap. I don't take out any flaws or imperfections in the wood, I do my best to bring them out and accent them. I would have left the black from the burn, just use a brush to remove any loose char or dust. Shellac would have brought all the colors out.
Well, what did you u find?
a typical dishonest way to get clicks.
Wood
You destroyed the beauty of the wood when you gouged out the burnt areas. You could have just eased the edges of the burnt areas a bit to create smoother lines. Also the ‘design’ of your gouging was very poor. I’m sorry to be so mean, I don’t usually leave negative comments. You need to study art and design before you ruin any more material. Especially when you were brave enough to turn that stump, and managed a decently shaped vase-like object.
It was perfect in its free form. Now it’s just startlingly grotesque. Such a shame. 🌷
That is art in the eyes of one who Does it. That is absolutely beautiful.
Clickbait and the piece does not serve any purpose.
Who else was waiting on a lamp???
Beautiful. Amazing talent. Very inspirational and enjoyable to watch. Thank you for sharing
I don't get it! He cleaned out most of the burnt part, but not all of it. To me, it looks unfinished!!! Why would he clean it out and not put a clear resin in the almost cleaned out spots? It just looks tacky, unfinished, and sloppy. This is not a good example of this man's skill.
I can see the voids being filled with epoxy to really enjoy that beautiful piece of wood…
Umm, what exactly is it supposed to be? I too think you should have left the black burnt color. Would have been a nice contrast.
Another misleading KZhead video. I along with many others waited until the end of the video to see what the woodworker found in the stump but nothing was there. The title was coined in such a way as to make the viewer think something extra ordinary was found.
Beautiful piece. I love watching wood turning, it's so therapeutic. I've tried it myself before. It's not easy. Well done.
Beautiful work. Great Design on the Log.❤
The difference between craft and art is knowing when to stop. This craftsman didn't know when it was done. By a long way...
I would have drilled out the center to run an electrical cord and then made it into a really cool lamp base. That would have given it practical application and light would shine on the art base forever. As a stand-alone piece of art, it's cool but it could have much better practical application.
Beautiful...! You made that look too easy.!
Nothing shocking. Clickbait.
So, what did you find inside that justified your teaser?
I enjoyed watching the video...😊
The case would have been more interesting if the burnt places were left, maybe filled with a clear resin than turned into a usable vase.
May I ask the species of tree this was? That yellow wood reminds me of old furniture of my grandmother's. Maple? It's fascinating watching you transform it into something beautiful. Although the original piece was beautiful, too.
It looks nice, but what’s special about it? It’s not even hollowed out to use as a vase so it’s just a shelf place holder. I like wood pieces with a little more functionality than looks.
Mesmerizing indeed. During the process kept wondering what would be the outcome. Shockingly Excellent!
Beautiful piece
What you found was people that watched your video, good work on that part ! Video 'wood' have been spectacular had you made a lamp?... Vase?.. Plant pedestal? Anyway, you accomplished a view.
Love woodworking. That’s a beautiful piece to cherish ❤
Absolutely gorgeous! Love it!
That which you "found" inside the burnt wood was your genius. A burnt stump turned (no joke intended) into a truly exquisite piece of art. The author of the "click bait" comment should be pitied; no soul attuned to beauty. His loss.
Amazing! No need for the clickbait title though. Just upsets people. But I understand the temptation because you get more views and make more money but people don’t like it (obviously). But still a very cool piece! God bless.
Given the cracks burnt look of the vase, I thought I would have gone for an over all darker, gothic looking color scheme. This could have been a horror movie prop if done right. I feel like this should have looked like the vase of some dark spirit or evil demon..
That must be one helluva strong lathe cos that hunk of wood was huge!! I expected to see the wood go flying across the room when he turned it on!!!
Can not say I am shocked by what you found, but very beautiful just the same!
It looks very beautiful and natural ❤
You have God's gift, you are born talented person, excellent job😊
What can it be used for? Decoration?
Wood artist I knew did something like this, put a carved owl in the crevice. Too cool !
Good work love it man God bless you
Wow, you found wood inside! I'm shocked as well! Wait...
A work of art was inside the burned tree stump.
More click bait. No surprise inside. Never even bored out the inside.
Absolutely gorgeous nature is always amazing with its natural beauty
Beautiful, but I really liked it before you took the black off of it.
I was shocked you took the time to video this as all I see is an unfinished project.
the original piece of burnt wood was by itself lot more beautiful than the stupid looking vase
As soon as you removed the burnt bit's it lost all interest, the burn's gave it what it needed :/
Why take out the contrasting black that made it stunning?
It still turned out gorgeous though your quite an artistic man
Could've done so much with this, the black contrasted so well and looked even nicer when sanded and you could have used colored resin to fill in the spaces to make a proper urn at least. What a waste of perfectly beautiful lumber, do better in the future.
Now it will still stand and be beautiful for many more years. It’s cool that you saw that inside a burned piece of wood, because the rest of the world would throw it back in the fire, but NOT YOU. How cool is that!
Do you happen to know what species the wood was? It looks like Osage orange which is super dense.. which would make sense as to why someone tried to cut it off, then unsuccessfully burn it; it’s probably still wet.
Beautiful ❤
Awesome results. Thanks for sharing.
It looked better with black spots, but nice video
What a waste of a gorgeous blank, very disappointing...😢
Vc pegou uma madeira de um forato lindo! Pena que não soube aproveitar!
im shocked how dull your chainsaw blade seems to be
Well congratulations, you successfully ruined a beautiful black unique piece of natural, wood sculpture.
Cllickbait title. I didn't see anything "shocking" except that you turned a nice piece of wood into a grotesque lump
Really should have left the black part from the fire that made it special.
I did too. That's messed up!
So what kind of wood is that?
Artifact found in this burned wood. Stunning!
Should have left the scorch on there, hit it with a stain, then into a bucket of colored resin, then cleaned out the inside to make an actual vase
Click bait .
Beautiful work of art.
Absolutely gorgeous ❤
Beautiful. At one point it reminded me of going to the dentist. Ha. Glad I watched.
That turned out gorgeous!
I thought we were going to see a cooked squirrel in that burn hole !
I thought he was going to leave the black burnt areas there and just smooth it out like at the end of the video. I think it would of been nicer.
16 min of my life I'll never get back!
Finding how mysteriously the burn 🔥 was Sooo deeply imbedded in the log the discovery 💡 revealed a unexpected surprise…🧐😳
You turned a possible work of art into a piece of trash with your hand tools.
That is beautiful! Would make for a really cool lamp stand!
Well that was 20 minutes I’ll never get back! What a waste of time and effort that was!
looks stained or painted not burnt
I was shocked just how blunt that chainsaw was
Just absolutely stunning.
Yes, very nice ! Now if you'll just tell us what, if anything, was inside ?
Why shocked, of that. There is not anything dangerous in. I have heard that in Australia was big bit gold inside tree.
