Lots of comments about why I didn’t use my vacuum chamber and the reason why I didn’t use it this time is because I was worried about the resin starting to cure before getting it into the fridge. Jim
Jim, this is the best yet!
How long did it take to fully cure?
@@AJMorin369 it was pretty much fully cured when the last coat of finish went on it.
⁶kkiukk⁶y9jyj0😊
Hi, Jim!! Has it sold yet?? If not, what's the asking price?? Serious inquiry!!✌🏽💚
I definitely love hearing your thought process. It lifts your video up from "look at this cool thing I made", to "look at this cool thing I made, and this is why it looks like this". Every piece of wood is different, and you never know exactly what it's like or how it's going to behave until you start turning, so you explaining what you're doing and why is a revelation, and all part of it.
Awesome! Thank you!
Again, another amazing piece. Your inspiration amazes me.
@nikkia9506 that was really well said. 😊
I agreed with you, his videos are next level through sharing his thought process (& artistic joy)
You are the artist it's your vision you should do it how you see it to be done the way you want it to be done. If they want it differently they should do themselves.
One of the reasons I watch every week is to hear your thought process when figuring out how to turn the blanks into something beautiful. Keep up the dialog.
Awesome, thank you!
Gorgeous !
Exactly the same for me!!
Absolutely agree!
Exactly what I was going to say.
We love the voice-over and "thinking out loud", please keep it up. My mother, 79 and severely handicapped from a car accident last year, found your channel and it gives her great joy, along with her two grandsons. Thank you!
Glad to hear it helps her! Thanks
Your thinking out loud is part of the enjoyment of watching you. I like hearing your thinking process. That is one of your best pieces that you've done. The more I look at it the better it gets. As much clear area there is you could almost turn it into a fish bowl for fun if it is safe to do.😂
Awesome! Thank you!
I agree.
You listened to what this piece was telling you what was hiding within it. I find that you keep your ear tuned to your pieces and they come out beautiful. Listening to your narrative in real time shows that you are attuned to the peice
Thank you very much!
Truly beautifull
That’s deep
+
Absolutely agree ❤
I am someone who knows absolutely nothing about woodturning but have just recently become obsessed with watch videos of woodturning. It’s very calming and relaxing to watch and I find it fascinating.
Awesome, thank you!
I totally agree. As it is the rotation that creates important perceptions and processes. Whether it's a horizontal lathe or working with clay clay vertically, it's the same thing. The magic of rotation.
Imo, the pitted, rotted wood parts that you so dislike, gave the piece depth, character and naturalness. A phenomenal piece!
Thank you so much!
"IMO, I would not want to speak for Jim…;but to you Judy, " Kudos by the way on your comment" but I think what you're interpreting as Dislike, for Jim I think it is more just disappointment in that the wood's natural aging process has caused soft spots that are more complicated, and time-consuming, to repair… Just IMO."
O.M.G. My jaw hit the floor! She's absolutely stunning! She's now my top out of my top 5 favourites! You already know my fave colour is blue, but making that Designer Epoxy ocean clear like that... Chef's kiss, Jim! Absolutely stunning!
Thank you so much!! 😁
Ι think it’s spectacular
You have always focussed on the educational aspect of woodturning. I appreciate your thinking process. I find it insightful
I appreciate that! Thank you very much!
I come to every video of yours specifically to hear your thought process on the design. Most turning channels are focused on technique - which definitely has it's place, but learning how to approach a design is just as important (if not more so).
Great point! Thank you very much!
7:50 your work is incredible! Don’t listen to others when it comes to your creativity, do you! I appreciate your artistry ❤
Thank you so much! Appreciate that!
Totally agree
I agree to..ppl are just jealous..don't give haters a second thought x
Pure art- I don’t know how much your pieces run but it’s wonderful that people get to see the painstaking process you go through to get a piece from start to finish. Just beautiful.
Thanks so much! 😊
"The Time, The Creativity, Thoughtfulness and Patients, in Creating Great Art". You just can't put an acceptable dollar value on that, so top dollar is the very least someone should pay.
This is absolutely beautiful! I honestly expect little fishes to be swimming by! Funny story, I was watching the purple one you did about a year ago and said "I hope he does another one of these soon!" Looking forward to the moon phase bowl! Great job, can't wait to see what you bring to 2024! Designer epoxy
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Jim. I absolutely love this vase. I believe it is one of your best pieces. I’m a relatively newcomer to watching your work but I’m fascinated with your work and look forward to many more of your one of a kinds.
Thanks and welcome
The piece is stunning. The problems you have described only add to the beauty of this piece.
Thank you very much!
The vase is a beauty. You have every right to be proud of it as your vision and talent gave birth to ART. When I first saw it, I thought about the ocean and continents, this was before I heard you talking about the ocean. Thanks for sharing and for your commentary, it was enlightening.
Thank you so much 😊
Jim, you definitely hit this one out of the park!! If it's not your best turning it has to be top 3. I don't mind the dialogue at all. It gives us (or at least me) a sense of how you go about making your decisions in real time. I think it's the teacher in me. Once again , stunning, a great piece of art!!
Thank you very much!
I am glad you did not put in that spacer. I absolutely love this effect. It is one of my favorites by far, and It’s even more rare. I can’t get over how beautiful it is. The bubbles really do add and helping it look like it’s a cave in the ocean. I love it when you think out loud. I love to see how you work everything out. It makes me feel more a part of what you’re doing. And heaven knows I will never do this by myself, so I love being a part of it.
Awesome! Thank you! 😊
I love your “thinking out loud” bits! I appreciate that you do that! It’s really cool to see all the art you create, but it’s even better because we understand your process! 🤘🏻🖤
Glad you like them! Thanks so much!
This table is magnificent. I love your commentary as well. I love your work. I follow Cam and that’s how I heard of you.
I watch you because you talk and tell us your thoughts and process. This is probably one of my most favorite of your pieces.
Wow! Thank you very much!
You don’t ever have to defend your creations, or how and why you did what you did. You’re extremely talented and you can see things in the wood that the rest of us can’t. Absolutely stunning! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and beautiful wood art with all of us. AND, no spacers!
Thank you so much!
ABSOLUTLY ASTOUNDING!! SO BEAUTIFUL, CREATIVE, NATURAL and UNIQUE LOOKING!! Kudos!!
Thank you so much!
@@SpragueWoodturning I don't know how you thought of doing this... but it's MINDBLOWING!! AND that's one of a kind... it can never be replicated!!
Your craftsmanship and attention to detail are second to none. I appreciate you vocalizing your thought process as the project progresses. Seeing an artist do something is great, but hearing WHY an artist does something is so much better!
I appreciate that! Thank you very much!
Absolutely stunning. I love hearing the whole story about the creative process as you create these amazing art pieces. I am absolutely not a woodworker and find the whole process fascinating. Keep them coming, Jim.
Will do! Thank you so much!
Wow. The finish on the wood and the transparent epoxy are beautiful together!
Thank you very much!
Your craftsmanship and attention to detail are second to none.
Thank you very much!
I watch a lot of turning videos, but I think this is the first I've seen of yours. Must say, this is one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever seen
Glad you liked it! Hope you stick around. Thank you very much!
That piece is absolutely gorgeous friend! Don't change a thing about the way you do things. It's peaceful and relaxing.
Thank you so much!
As a creator, in a different art, I very much appreciate your sharing your thoughts throughout the process! I LOVE this piece.
Thank you so much!
I certainly agree with you @margaret7620
I watch several of you guys and you are the only one who gives us that insight during your work. I personally dig that alot. This piece is absolutely incredible and I feel you are undervaluing your work
Possibly, but I get what I need out of it, that way is more affordable to others too. Thank you very much!
I like the thinking out loud process you do. It lets me see your creative process, which is interesting. Thank you for sharing. Everything I have seen you make is amazing.
Thanks so much!
I think this piece is the coolest one because of the wood and the openings in the wood. Having the resin translucent makes it amazing. The top is cool. It looks like a giant brandy snifter to me
For a giant, lol. Thanks
You create some of the most amazing pieces of what I would call art. If I could afford things like this, I would proudly display it. BTW, thank you for explaining your reasoning behind not using spacers to save resin.
Thank you very much!
I've never seen something so beautiful. It was so amazing watching you create this. Thank you
Wow, thank you!
58:10 Wow. So completely beautiful. Well worth your price to those whom have to enjoy this SPLENDID PIECE. Loves it! ❤
Thank you very much!
Jim, you have treated us to gorgeous pieces throughout our journey together. This surpasses them all. The way the wood and epoxy seem to caress each other is soothing to my eyes. The lip shape adds even more character. You are an outstanding artist and when you voice your thought processes it adds a bit of mystery. Thanks so very much!
Thank you very much!
Jim first of all the dialogue helps people like myself a great deal. I am quite new at turning as I only took turning up as a retirement hobby. So at 70 years young I've only been turning three years now and I love it. So I thank you for the commentary it really does help. As far as the piece goes, well it's absolutely stunning. I've watched your channel many times now but for me that has got to be my favourite so far. Just amazing work. 👍
Thanks you so much! I hope my videos help you with your turning!
Jim I think that could be my favorite turning to date on KZhead. The thought process and skill to pull it off are simply mind blowing, its a really beautiful and unique piece, well done.
Wow, thanks so much!
Hey Jim, I do really get a lot from your thought process. As a fairly new turner, it helps me expand my way of looking at the different possibilities of a piece. Love this one, fantastic.
Great to hear! Thanks!
This piece has taken 1st place. It is amazing. The wood is gorgeous! The transparent blue is awesome! Love love love this vase! Beautiful job Jim!
Thank you so much!
I think you should do what you and your piece decide to do. Comments from hundreds of viewers is too confusing, and you need to please yourself only.👍👏😊. It's beautiful
I totally agree! Thanks so much!
That's one beautiful piece of artwork. It's stunning!!! ✌🏼❤️🖖🏼
Thank you! Cheers!
I'm sure the majority of us enjoy hearing the artistic thought process. Part of what I love about these videos is that you aren't sure of what the piece will be until you get it on the lathe.❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
You surprise me every week with the variety of forms, colors and effects you achieve. Hearing your thought process is definitely an essential part of my enjoyment of your videos. This one is a knockout!
Thank you so much!
It reminds me of Waterworld. It's beautiful. You did an awesome job on this!
Thank you very much!
I love hearing your thought process as you work on your project. It allows us to properly understand & go on the journey with you. It also helps us understand how woodworking actually works so we can fully appreciate the full beauty of your work & process. The way you explain your thoughts & process is good for fellow woodworkers & those that don’t know anything about it. I personally have never touched a lathe but I love your work.
Thank you so much!
This is definitely no#1 wow!! It's just absolutely stunning all your work is great but again WOW!! I love it!! Just the perfect amount of blue.
Thank you so much!
I enjoy hearing your thought process, it helps to get a bit of understanding of the "why" you are doing things. Its nice insight! This project came out absolutely stunning! The view holes are stunning, would love to see more projects like this with other colors too!
Awesome, thank you!
The water effects are fantastic. At times I can also see a cosmic look to the piece with the lighting added
Thank you! Cheers!
I love to listen to your thought process as you make decisions as to what the project will become! Each time you make a beautiful finished piece!
Thank you so much!
Speechless! Every week you live up to my excitement of seeing something great! Keep doing what you’re doing, it’s good to hear your thought process. I was a little disappointed by all the advertising during your video but I certainly understand business needs. And yes, designer epoxy has given me more mica colors than my ongoing projects can use but I can never have enough. In a world where customer service has all but left us completely, it’s good to know that a company is still going above and beyond for its customers. Thank you Jim, for always sharing your thoughts and talent. 😊
Thank you very much!
Good morning Jim. The thumbnail looks beautiful. Can’t wait for the journey from scrap wood and liquid goop to masterpiece! Happy New Year to all!
Same to you! Thank you very much!
Jim I truly love your videos, your voice calms me, your train of thought is sometimes hilarious to follow, but all in a good way. Genuinely I absolutely love watching you, listening to you, seeing the beautiful art you can create from some really stunning wood, and your colour choices for your epoxy, wow. Especially the hyper shift. Much much love Katrina UK. Xxx
Thank you very much!
Oh, yes. Designer Epoxy.
Thanks so much!
Ahhhh! This is absolutely GORGEOUS! I love how you orientated the wood piece so that the windows are in the position that they are. Definitely one of my favorite pieces! Also, to echo others here, I love hearing your thought process. As an artist myself, I learn from other artists; and watching and hearing about the creative and technical processes are vital! I know that a couple of other makers here on KZhead have made second "ASMR" type channels where there's no talking, and just the shop noises and whatnot. Some people do prefer that, but I think most people enjoy hearing you talk about what's going on. Anyway, keep up the great work! Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
Thanks so much!
The contrast between the epoxy and the wood is beautiful. It has so much potential!
I think so too! Thank you very much!
Don't let people tell you how to make your art Jim, but definitely keep telling us what you're thinking! I love watching and hearing your creative process!
I appreciate that! Thanks
Beautiful, just amazing work you do!!! Would love to be entered to win a creationof yours!!! One of my favorites to watch for sure
This turned out so beautifully
Thank you so much!
Moon phase bowl is a proper gorgeous idea. Can’t hardly wait to
Thank you very much!
OMG I am loving this piece. I joked that it was missing a cave diver. How you got the design Epoxy resin so clear is amazing!! Also DO NOT Stop the voice overs! We may not be tuners but we love listening to your train of thought and Explaining what you do
Thanks so much 😊
The most beautiful piece I've ever had the privilege of watching come to life. You are truly an artist and a master of your craft. Can't wait to see the next beautiful design come to life.
Thank you very much!
Really outstanding work!! I love the sheen on the maple,(I can’t think of the word for that lol) and the bubbles in the epoxy. Anyone would be thrilled to have this piece ❤️🤗🐝
Thank you very much! 😀
@@SpragueWoodturning You’re welcome❤️🤗🐝
That's some amazing work Jim. Listening to your expienced thought process, has taught myself and I'm sure others alot. Keep it up.
Thanks, will do!
I also love listening to you talk through all the steps. I think that’s part of the process 😊
Oh thank you!
I watched this one a second time. I don’t remember if I commented on this one. It’s definitely one of my favorites. The transparency of the epoxy adds great dimension. Thank you as always. Stay well. Designer Epoxy
Wow, thank you!
That looks Awesome! Absolutely fantastic! I'm shortly going to start woodturning myself, I've bought my first lathe and I'm in the process of setting up my home workshop, and I really appreciate the tips and advice you include in your videos 👍👍 Many thanks for providing such great content. You've inspired me to be the best woodturner that I can be
Awesome! Thanks!
Your talent amazes me every time. Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you so much 😀
Just love your work and to listen to your thought process is priceless please dont drop it from your videos . My husband would talk to himself the whole time he was working ,its such a shame he didnt get to watch your videos. ❤
Sorry for your loss, thanks for watching!
Wow Jim, I’ve been watching you for years and I must say this is my number one piece you’ve done. I do love the dialogue as a Wood turner myself watching you overcome struggles, helps me in my turnings. Absolutely beautiful piece. Great job.
Wow, thank you!
That is an absolutely beautiful vase. That going to be worth the price you put on it. Great work!
Thank you very much!
I'm floored! This very unique vase is the most stunning piece I have ever seen!!! The flaws in the ocean part....don't worry about them. The ocean is organic, living and as such "ebbs and flows". The appearance changes minute by minute, second by second. Think of it as catching the ocean in one precious moment in it's ever moving and changing dance. Brilliant work!
Thank you so much!
Absolutely love this piece . Nice to see a fellow veteran making a living out of his passion . I spent 32 years in the Royal NZ Navy and now do blacksmithing . Wouldn't change what I do now for all the money in the world .
Awesome! Thank you very much!
I love it when you’re thinking out loud because it helps me to be able to re-create things too. Such a beautiful piece.
Thank you! 😊
This is going to be beautiful. You do amazing work.
Thank you so much!
just discovered your channel. Truly amazed at your skill and the beautiful pieces of art. thanks for the amazing content.
Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy my videos! Thanks!
The rim reminds me of the sea glass you find on the beach, soft and worn. The wood resemble the drift wood. I am so jealous of the individual that owns this beautiful offering. Thank you for letting us share your journey.
My pleasure! Thanks
Hearing your thinking process is the best part of learning something about the trade.
Agreed. Thanks
It turned out really beautiful!😊
Thank you! 😊
Love it the colour is perfect, the vase is fab🎉❤
Thanks so much 😊
That is #1 gorgeous man. Wish I could afford a piece made by you. whoever ends up with the cave vase will be so lucky. I LOVE WHEN YOU EXPLAIN EACH STEP. thank you so much....😂😅❤

Thanks so much!
That is your best yet Jim. Absolutely beautiful work. Happy New Year 🎉

Tisztelt Uram. István Pellus vagyok Magyarországról. Gratulálok az elkészült remekműhöz. Sok sikert kívánok.
Thank you very much!
The whole thing looks absolutely amazing to me! But as one artist to another, I will just humbly say this that perfection can be A very cruel mistress! and alas, the benefits of her perfection, or just without words, awesome
Wow, thank you!
I like when you think out loud, it help with me coming up with ideas. So please thinking out loud.
Thanks so much! Will do!
I am curious about your timing with the pressure pot. After a couple days in the refrigerator, the resin should have thickened quite a bit.. It seems like the pressure wouldn’t do much good at that point? Or am I wrong?
Your probably right, but I didn’t see the harm in doing so. Thanks
Beautiful! You have a real gift from God.☺️
Wow, thank you
Designer Epoxy! 😎 I really love this piece!!! 😍😍😍
Thank you! Cheers!
I definitely appreciate the realtime clips to give me a good example of the process.
Glad you like them! Thanks
Hearing your creative thought process is what I am here for. This is the first of yours I have watched and I will watch more.
Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy them! Thanks
I think its great to hear you talk out your thoughts, almost like we are there with you.
Thanks so much!
Oh dude you know what you’ve created there? A piece of heaven. It sure is beautiful. I don’t think you made one mistake there. I think all of it is wonderful. I only wish I could do something comparable to it! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. It is amazing!
Wow, thank you very much!
That designer epoxy is stunning against the wood! It feels to me like earth and air or water... Grounded and natural, solid ... but also fluid and magical! Thanks for showing your process. It makes me want to get into woodworking and epoxy, myself.
Glad you like it! Thanks
I watch all this and I’ve done a lot of resin aren’t myself and I think this absolutely freaking fabulous
Thank you very much!
I'm new to your channel but wanted to say I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts while you're working your piece. It's almost like you're conversing with it -- the piece is revealing itself to you as you're discovering its secrets and revealing your thoughts about what it could become. Very nicely done.
