I hope he is selling these one of a kind pieces for tens of thousands of dollars, because man, you talk about time, effort, energy and creativity! Wow!
I do well on them but I wish I could get tens of thousands, lol. Thank you very much.
Where can I find a list of your items for sale?
@@virginianix8478 I think he sells locally, I've seen him before. But I may be wrong

Another beauty absolutely love that shape
This turned out gorgeous! My favorite color and the texture of the wood is stunning! I love that you are unafraid to admit mistakes happen and you effortlessly pivot around them and make them a feature of the piece. In the future, if you want to draw contrast with colors via any cracks like you did here with the white, try using silver or gold for your resin color! It'll be very similar to kintsugi, which is intended to create beauty out of something broken using precious metal to repair broken pottery.
I’ve actually used that technique on the walnut lightning vase. Gold was on my list too for this project. Thanks for watching
I should have read further before suggesting the same thing. Oops 😬
@@user-vg5jh3uv6r I was sitting thinking the same thing, and then came down into the comments and found you guys!
They aren't mistakes, they're stunning serendipities
Sure, I'll take it! Thanks!

Mannnnn, what a beautiful piece of art. Functional art. There's a lot of crap that gets passed off as art, but something like this is timeless. In 1,000 years, someone could dig that up and it would still be a treasure. Great job! High fives all around!
Thank you very much!
@@SpragueWoodturning Yeah, and something else I'd like to add. Sometimes you don't know how something is going to turn out and that's the greatest part! You're learning and through that process WE learn. Lots of people make good videos but they don't show mess ups and projects that didn't turn out the way they wanted. Something I've learned in life is that if you don't know something for sure, say something to someone and they'll do their best to help. At the very least, they'll know you did your best. Well, you state that you aren't sure how things will go and you try anyway. We need more of that attitude. Keep up the quality work buddy!
Absolut agree - just beautyful 🤩😍🤗 - would like to havesuch a piece of art.
@@joshmcdonald9508 It's very true. Sometimes I'll start a piece with a really good idea of where I'm going with it, but it usually turns out differently than I envisioned it and gains a lot of elements along the way. My ideas often start out really simple and gain complexities that make sense with the core of it along the way. And you're totally right. There's a LOT of crap passed off as art. I look at it and go..."Why?! Just...why? Why would you feel the need to do this, and then feel the need to inflict it on other people? My eyes feel assaulted now!" So it's nice to see art by people who actually know what they're doing.
This piece has such an otherworldly feel yet is still so organic, it's absolutely stunning. I got lost staring at it! Congratulations on 1M views 🎉!
Thanks 😊
Great video, if your finding tricky to seal the wood that causes the bubbles my grandpa he will leave the inside of the vase unsealed in the hopes of the gasses taking the path of least resistance and bleeding out from the inside rather than outside of the bowl
what would you use it for?
@@rgw5991 I don't know about anybody else but I'd be happy just to put it on a shelf and admire it!
You could put a light in it, too!
I have only been turning for about 9 years, I have learned more useful information from your videos than can be recorded. I am coming up on 80 my goal is to make one piece as nice as yours. Loved this Vaise, every episode is just loaded with great tips and great designs. Thank you.
Great to hear! Thanks so much!
I think this vase is beautiful. If you wanted a contrast filler for cracks, you could use a strong gold colour, similar to the Japanese art of Kintsugi which uses gold to highlight repairs, rather than hide them.
Gold was on my list too. Thanks for watching
Less is more. I like just the purple. I think red would ruined it
@@lindalu8463 Yeah, that was my feeling too. All colors should work in concert on a piece. Wood goes with purple. Wood goes with red. Red does not go with purple. It changes the tone of the piece too much from the soft, proud beauty it is to a loud and in-your-face rebel. And those two feelings really don't work together, causing chaos. Which I'm pretty sure your wife knew intuitively. White adds sweetness, which works with proud beauty. It's just unfortunate the white didn't pop more. Oh well....
I love this idea!!!
Not a reply , but a question. Very curious has to what do you take into consideration when pricing a piece ? Thanks, very interesting process.
There is nothing impossible in the art of lathe, it is life, and when you accomplish a wonderful job, you feel extremely happy, well done
Thank you very much!
Your pieces are beautiful. The fact you are comfortable with your perceived errors is great, it helps others know that no-one has perfect outcomes all the time and the fact you identify what is wrong, why and how it to fix it is fabulous.
Thank you so much!
I LOVE THIS BIG PURPLE ONE!!!! Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
Glitter purple. Who would have thought it would produce such a lovely result? It contrasts so well with the soft gold tones of the wood. Love the wavy top edge!
Thank you! Cheers!
As I was watching I kept wanting you to make multiple globes , this design would look wonderful as globes for planets. Then I changed my mind as you got further into it and i decided that a lamp base with an interior light would bring out the beauty of the piece more. Then i saw the completed piece and fell in love with it as is. wonderful work
Great! Thanks for watching!
I’m glad you didn’t go with the red to fill in. It may have been beautiful but the white made the purple on the sides lighter than the purple at the top. That was amazing.
Very pretty. I agree about contrasting colors to create a more visually stimulating design. Purple is a fav of mine!
Thanks!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS TRANSLUCENT SO THE WOOD CAN BE SEEN! 🤩🤩🤩 GORGEOUS EDGE OF THE WOOD!
Thanks 😊
I’ve just found (Wood Turning) videos. There are quite a few out there, but I’ve found your work to be on a completely different level. I mean your pieces leave me speechless! It’s like they need to be in museums! I would make it the centerpiece of my home, with lighting shining on it from all directions. Wow! 👏🏼👏🏼
Wow, thank you! Welcome aboard!
The beautiful piece is bursting with an entirely different charachter from every angle! List is long of every detail I am impressed with, to include how you simply flow, creating as you progress.
Thank you very much!
When you do the work the way you do, then I’m not surprised at the million views. I said once and I’ll say it again. You are the best resin turner that I have ever seen. Now going for 2 million.
Wow, thank you so much!
Every time I don’t think you can make something more stunning outcomes another piece this is amazing
Thanks 😊
Well done, magnificent craftsmanship, resulting in beautiful art. When I was at school, my favourite thing was wood turning. I left school in the year 1969 and haven't turned wood since. Your excellent work is inspiring me to be more creative. Thank you and Best Wishes, John.
Great! Thanks for watching!
That color and the flash of the wood is amazing.
Thanks!
This video will reach 1,000,000 views too. We’ll keep coming back to rewatch it, just to see that beautiful vase again.
Thanks!
I think one of the things I love best, is that you “feel” your art.. I understand this type of thinking! 🥰 I also love the voice overs!
Yes! Thank you very much!
Hello from New Zealand. This turned out fantastic, well done! I have seen a lot of great wood turning bowls and vase made on youtube, but you actually explain what you are doing which makes this video a lot more educational. Thanks commentary and for sharing.
Thank you very much!
It just looks like something out of a fairytale. Really lovely!
Thanks 😊
Unique vase is a major understatement. Beautiful work. Truly.

wow wunderschön. man kann sehen wie sehr sie holz lieben. danke für dieses video.

That is definitely a statement piece. That’s absolutely amazing. Myself and the wife couldn’t vision it at first. But wow glad we stuck to the end
Thanks for watching
i think the white was perfect, just gave it a little bit of depth. This is absolutely stunning!
Thank you very much!
I'm just at 7 minutes through the video and you're talking about making mistakes and "that's on me" and so forth, and I just wanted to thank you for pushing yourself, your tools, the resin and everything else. These are the voyages of discovery we make in our lives, Jim. They're beautiful and wonderful in their own right, and sometimes we arrive on the far shore to discoveries like the gorgeous vase I saw in the thumbnail. Thank you for your journeys, and thank you for bringing us along with you on them.

🌳 THIS WOOD IS SOO WONDERFUL 🌳 ... ❤️🔥 & HOW IT LIGHTS, GLITTERS & SHINES ❤️🔥 ... 😻 BEAUTIFUL 😻
Thank you very much
*Wow!* I don't have words. "Pretty" understates it by magnitudes. "Beautiful" is too mundane. "Lovely" is too insipid. "Gorgeous" comes close but.... "Outstanding"? "Awesome"? "Incredible"? All of them I think. I am not even an amateur at woodworking/turning, so this astounding to me. The look of the maple could keep me mesmerized for hours, I think. (I *adore* wood with gorgeous grain!) Thank you for your work on this piece, & for recording it for us to enjoy. Keep turning please.
Thank you very much!
This is gorgeous. From certain angles - the finished vase takes on the look of canyons or rock formations. Stunning!
Thank you very much
The vase is beautiful. Really love the color.

Out of the many videos of yours that I’ve watched so far (which all have been fairly incredible), this project is definitely my favorite!!! The “direction” of the wood was an amazing idea, the see through area and shape was perfect, and the color is absolute stunning. Great work my friend!! 😁👍🏼🤍

The vase is amazingly beautiful! I LOVE the color. It looks like periwinkle, which is my favorite color. I really appreciate the narration, explaining what you are doing, why, and how. Thank you so much for posting such interesting and informative videos. You really have a special talent!
Thank you so much!
Bravo! This piece was Magnificent; it really inspires me that you are so honest about your mistakes, how you learn from them, and by constantly pushing your creative boundaries!
Thank you very much!
The maple knot with the glittet purple was fantastic to me. I pick out things in the piece to name it from. I saw a golden retriever or an Irish setters head in the top edge of the wood. So id call it something along the lines of a sporting dogs features. I’m sure many many people saw the features. As it was turned I watched go from a bump in the the top line through an Arabian horses head to the dogs head. I’m so glad there is someone out there that can turn junk pieces to works of beauty and art for all to see. God bless you and your amazing talent. Tim
Thank you very much!
I really like this vase! The wavy edge top really adds to the futuristic aspect of the piece. I can imagine it looking like the landscape from some other planet with purple haze atmosphere. Very cool!
Awesome description! Thanks 😊
Absolutely stunning piece - love the translucence.
Thanks 😊
It looks like a mystical egg, so cool.
Thanks!
Once again Jim you have out done yourself. It looks like each item comes out better then the last but that doesn't mean that all of them are not 100% unique in themselves. I myself would be mighty proud if I did work like that.
Thank you very much!
Love it. Just beautiful. Re. thermal cracking, have you thought about building some kind of cooling rig. The guys over at Black Forest built a cooling table for their deep pours. I use designer epoxy as well but am no where near pushing the boundaries like you!
This would be a tricky thing to do, the epoxy needs 70 to 75 degrees to cure and you would need to keep it at that temp. If it got too cold it wouldn’t cure. Talking to the owner today, he recommended casting on the bench when doing these really deep pours, that way it won’t crack. Thanks
I have had luck with using an old air handler from a houses air con system wired it up in my shop. I turn it on and have it forcing air over the piece to help remove the heat the epoxy is generating . You will on something that thick like a 5 gallon buck how well it would work I have no idea I use it to blow over by deep pour tables.
Wow it's so beautiful! It looks like it was made with magic!
Thanks 😊
In regards to the accent colors, my wife and I really love the gold!
It was on my list too. Thanks
Gorgeous piece of art! Stunning how it went from a raw piece of wood to this beautiful masterpiece! Bravo!
Thank you so much 😀
MAN that is so cool. Also love to see long videos showing process of both thinking AND manufacturing, as well as admiting flaws and noting corrections for future times. Edit: Also, the editing being a bare minimum of speedup and voiceover. It really helps focusing on the actual video without any external annoyances like the generic music everyone uses.
Thank you very much!
Love it!!! That purple is amazing!!
Thanks 😊
I want this this so badly. That purple is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!

I'm completely mesmerized by the lights reflecting off the finished pieces from above while it's on the rotisserie ... any chance you could linger on this for a minute or so without any other movement? It accentuates the natural look and shows just how amazing our world is!

This is really a beautiful piece! I absolutely love the resin color, that it's translucent and the open areas of the wood show it off.
