The Four Tops - Baby I Need Your Loving

2008 ж. 8 Мау.

Simply put it's one of the greatest songs ever written and performed. It was released n the fall of 1964 and composed by Holland Dozier Holland, and was the Four Tops first hit. It reached No.11 on the billboard charts and has now passed into folklore as classic definitive motown. Masterfully led by the great Levi Stubbs and atmospherically backed by Fakir, Payton and Benson.

    • Never thought of it like that... but, you're right! 👍 The Tops helped get me through a difficult time in my life - I was drafted in 1968 right at the height of the Vietnam War. Music was my salvation - and what great music there was in the 60s! ✌

  • People don't get it twisted. Motown was a monster that could not be contained! I was 6/7 years old when this song came out and it was just another banger from Motown. One after another they just never stopped. I was a kid from the bronx New York and my life seemed magical because of this highly sophisticated new music. Record companies went out of business because they couldn't compete with Motown. All races were affected by this music and it kinda gave us a bond as I remember it. The world will never be like it was back then. The butcher the bike shop the deli the department stores the school the transistor radios. Everybody played this song. It made you feel so good. That ghostly sound of the piano in the background. James Jamersons upright bass just pounding on every beat. Those finger snaps! Ahh you should have been there.

  • LYRICS Baby, I need your lovin' Baby, I need your lovin' Although you're never near Your voice I often hear Another day, 'nother night I long to hold you tight 'Cause I'm so lonely Baby, I need your lovin' Got to have all your lovin' Baby, I need your lovin' Got to have all you lovin' Some say it's a sign of weakness For a man to beg Then weak I'd rather be If it means having you to keep 'Cause lately I've been losing sleep Baby, I need your lovin' Got to have all your lovin' Baby, I need your lovin' Got to have all you lovin' Empty nights echo your name Whoa, sometimes I wonder Will I ever be the same? Oh yeah! When you see me smiling, you know Things have gotten worse Any smile you might see Has all been rehearsed Darling, I can't go on without you This emptiness won't let me live without you This loneliness inside, darling Makes me feel half alive Baby, I need your lovin' Got to have all your lovin' Baby, I need your lovin' Got to have all your lovin' Baby, I need your lovin' Got to have all your lovin'
