THESE were PEAK YEARS for African American music. Nothing like that generation's quality music has been produced since then.

Peak in the 60’s maybe but not peak in other decades especially 80’s 90’s birth of hip hop u like it or not hip hop outlast many genres and still relevant today… Whitney Michael prince Rick James Mariah all from 80’s Motown all about sing Along feel good music… but it ain’t touching the technicality and better written songs and music from 80’s 90’s

Funny how at 9 yrs of age I started buying only tracks by black artists, why.............because very few have amazing voices like them. 52 yrs later 99% of what I listen to are black artists. Incredibly talented 💜

True story. Im born and raised in Detroit. I come from a very larger family. My father was a carpenter. He did work all-around the state for all kinds of famous musicians and people who had high standing in their fields. I remember my family was good friends with levi stubbs and his family. We used to often visit him and his family. We also are good friends with members of the Four Tops and have done all types of work on their houses and properties. This Era of music was and continues to be a staple of who I Am and where I came from. (TIMELESS)

Levi Stubb's had said that he was told by everyone that he should go solo but he said that he couldn't do it because they all grew up together in the same neighborhood and it wouldn't be fair to the rest of the guy's in the group to leave them for a solo career,so until the end they stayed together until the end

Incredibly talented 💜
. *GOD, HOW I LOVE MOTOWN. SADLY, I DON'T KNOW THAT WE'LL HAVE ANYTHING LIKE IT AGAIN.* . . - A Native San Franciscan born in 1952

Beautiful thought @pameladache3872. Feels like heavenly rhythm. 💖
This is exactly the type of music you’ll hear at the pearly gates
@@graciekattan6618I don't think so. There will be no pop Motown rock music in heaven.
I just can't imagine life without Motown and I can't imagine Motown without the Four Tops. I've heard this song a million times and I get chills each time. What an amazing song sung by an amazing singer. Long live Levi.

Levi Stubbs - RIP. Never went solo because he said he never would. What a voice!!
Hey Chrissy, totally agree I could watch him all day lol, hope you are doing ok xx
Wonderful...life is so good when you hear the Four Tops
(TIMELESS)
BEST THE GROUP TO COME OUT OF MOTOWN WITH THE BEST LEAD SINGER EVER SADLY MISS THANK'S FOR THE MUSIC GUYS LEVI WAS SO LOYAL HE'D NEVER LEAVE THE TOPS HE HAD HIS CHANCES BUT NEVER TOOK THEM BECAUSE HE WANTED TO STAY WITH FOUR TOPS GOD BLESS ALL WHO HAVE LEFT US NOW REST IN PEACE XX
He was AMAZING! 👍🎵🎶😁
Levi Stubbs voice is so emotional and beautiful.
Levi Stubb's had said that he was told by everyone that he should go solo but he said that he couldn't do it because they all grew up together in the same neighborhood and it wouldn't be fair to the rest of the guy's in the group to leave them for a solo career,so until the end they stayed together until the end
Best Motown band ever 👍👍
@@ianholmes3761 the temps?

They were absolutely incredible you're right. The song's a good is what we live to back in the 60s and 70s. I grew up in that era was the greatest era ever. We had the music we had the car's we had the money and we had the girls and it just doesn't get any better than that motown was. A miracle.
This song came out 60 years ago and it's still popular today

Very good
I am sure they didn’t know at the time that they would be timeless. ❤️💯❤️
1966..... Still in awe over the Ford Mustang. My high school in Natural Bridge, Virginia became integrated. Did we have problems? No, this music bought us together! We laughed, danced, learned together, and about each other. What a wonderful time we had. People can come together.
Temps and 4 Tops . Love y'all to life .Thank you! Sincerely

It just doesn't get any better than THIS !!!!
***** Comments for this one had been disabled for some time, but was glad to see them recently re-activated .... These guys were among Motown's ELITE.
***** My favorite Motown groups besides The Four Tops are (in no certain order) - - The Temptations, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Fifth Dimension and the list goes on ....

The great Levi Stubbs - a voice that makes me weep every time I hear it. One of the greatest male singers of all time
Truth Indeed AMEN RIP Lebi Stubbs
Remember this very well...old 45 from my friend in Los Angeles
@simon Yeo, oh my goodness you are so right, can't get enough fantastic
The wonderful Levi Stubbs knew how to get the words across so beautifully, soulfully. When he sings the line "...Because I'm so lonely..." gets me every time...
So many memories come flooding back. Some good and some I would like to forget. But great music is what we had back in the 60's.
That foot work wad everything!
This song is 53yrs old, I remember the first time I heard it, I was floored by Levi's voice. I am still floored by his voice...4Tops4Ever!!
David diaz, what about the song writer who wrote this great piece of music.
The falsetto tops it off💯
@@ashsol2657 Of course credit goes to Holland Dozier & Holland, they wrote incredible songs, for the Tops to sing. But, it was Levi's voice that put the songs on the ' musical' map!!!

This song sounds so beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ to me.
Those guys are pure class and total magic.
Dressed casually. Not overly choreographed. These fellows were the epitome of cool in addition to the amazing song and vocals. So at ease, they appear as if they could have been out for a walk and simply decided to drop in for a song. I'm so glad they did. :)
lead singer isn't really even stepping, he may drag a foot here and there but mainly just moving his hips.. lol
@@deaniversen351 and its just perfect.
I loved the clothes so clean cut and coordinated nice!!!! Omg the guy with the glasses reminds me of my great grandfather he had that look going with those glasses.
No need to choreografy when you have those voices.

I sure do miss the 70s and 80s. The music🎧 today is not even the same. Sometimes I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier and everyone enjoyed life! Is this your favorite song ?
It didn't matter what the color of a person's skin was Motown's influence touched everyone across time and geography
Yes, from Italy.🤝

Grew up with Motown. Also, the Chicano music of South Texas. What a great combination. 👍
The whole group was great back in the 60's. So sorry Duke is the only one left. Love them all. Thank the Four Tops for making the music that we carried with us.l

this group of soulful brothers were So remarkable they refused to dilute or compromise , refused to sell one soul for money, even when lead singer-Levi Stubbs was given everything in exchange ,he remained steadfast, saying they would allways be THE FOUR TOPS , there would never be a Levi Stubbs and the tops and thus they remained brothers until the end.
What a huge difference with today's appearance of the singers ! Sooo much better and respectable looking back then.
I was 10 yrs old when this song came out and Mr Levi Stubbs may God rest you in peace.Im 64 yrs old and I will always love this song.
The Four Tops are beyond classics

When music had substance style and class....

These songs brings back memories when I was a child listening to music with my Aunt Peg. Because I am a baby boomer so whatever she played on the radio I listened to that kind of music 🎵
