As of Flight Sim version 5 when binding switches (including lever detents) now you need to flip the switch on for the input to be sensed, but then turn the switch off before validating it, or the validation will freeze. Additionally, when testing a switch the fields don’t turn white and dark anymore, but they will work.

  • Excellent video and I thank you, sir! I used the default cell sizes in Microsoft Excel to make a label strip similar to your labels made with the Brady. Just type in row 1a the first word like 'anti' and type the second word in row 2a like 'ice'. Type in 'window' in 1b and 'deice' in 2b, etc. Print it out and cut to size. Fits nicely.

  • Excellent video as always, great content! To circumvent the „out of sync“-issue, you can simply set one position for „set anti ice on“ and the other for „set anti ice off“. Similar to what you did with windshield deice

  • Saved me hours, thanks so much. I did my label a bid cheaper. Typed the binding names on XL spreadsheet and reversed the color to print white on a black background. Cut it to size and stuck it on with a strip of clear sticky tape. Looks as if it is an original part of the unit. Thanks again, great videos

  • Excuse my written english, cause i'm french from Québec. I bought HONEYCOMB Yoke and Bravo instrument. They are magnificent. It completely changes the experience. Many people talk about heading, nav mode and all those's thing, but i aprecciate in this video when he talk about YAW DAMPER. It's push me to known some more about the Dutch ROLL and YAW DAMPER. I beleave that he already flight a plane in is life, and he could be a good teacher to learn how to fly. I apreciate also the way he speak. His English is easy to understand.

I had been skipping over this one, thinking it was just about making pretty labels for the throttle. So, this morning, with coffee in hand, I decided to see what it was about. Little did I know it contained all I needed to know. What a great video My apologies for not clicking sooner.

  • Quick tipp in case you want to change the base mapping for the quadrant after already setting up a bunch of different configurations. If you search for a certain function like “cabin lights” in the complex single config you can just switch through the other configurations and it will stay on the function you have already typed in. So its quicker to change the mapping for on specific thing in all configs first rather than change the whole mapping for one config and then switch to the next and having to search everything again.

I even contacted Honeycomb support and they were saying Asobo needed to address the light switch controls. Shame on you Honeycomb. By now you should have accurate tutorials for configuring all switches. Nowhere else but here suggests using the Set control command instead of the Toggle On/Off command. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! As of this evening I finally have working light switches. I am so pleased!

    • Yeah only wish Microsoft set up the button mapping so we can designate that a function is controlled by a switch in FSX so the function has the on and off separate from each other. The button mapping is just a horrendous mess that they never bothered to fix/improve. Just got the Alpha yoke which has nothing but switches on the panel and its nearly impossible to setup switches in FSX.

That and I have changed the CRS nob and fuel pump button. I have reassigned you fuel button to be linked with the CRS selection nob and the plus / minus nob. • Your video inspired me to do some experimenting to find a workable solution for setting the OBS for both VOR1 and VOR2. First I defined JB18 to VOR OBS. The description says that this should be followed by SELECT 2 for the second VOR. I defined the leftmost rocker switch to SELECT 1 (JB34) on the top and SELECT 2 (JB35) for the bottom. The rotary knob is already defined for JB 13 & 14. These are all combined for the SET VOR 1 OBS INCREASE (JB18+JB34+JB13), SET VOR 1 OBS DECREASE (JB18+JB34+JB14), SET VOR 2 OBS INCREASE (JB18+JB35 +JB13), and SET VOR 2 OBS INCREASE (JB18+JB35+JB14). The video uses INCREASE (FAST) but that doesn’t work with these three switch combos. I’ve tested these work with the C152 and the C172 Garmin 1000. Using multiple switches for a keybinding is powerful. It should be possible to use SELECT 1 and SELECT 2 for other keybindings needing additional parameters.

  • I had a minor problem after assigning custom buttons on my Bravo per these instructions. The trim wheel only moved the smallest amount, like 1mm scaled turn per turn. Removing the custom key bindings fixed the problem. Changing the “Set” commands to “On” for switch up and “Off”” for down fixed the problem! The default setup follows this pattern, but of course causes problems with duplicate definitions with the Alpha. Now it moves the typical 25mm scaled per turn. Which is slow, but workable. The newest MSFS does show button presses in the key setup. Turns were flashing but with a low duty cycle. My working theory is “set” commands require polling the keys and with so many “set” commands in this key setup the elevator trim “turns” get sent over the USB less often

When you use a button to engage any of the Modes such as NAV HDG VS and IAS. They do not set any of the on the Planes AP Panel. But if you select it from the Planes AP Panel you can adjust from the Honeycomb . When I do select LNav or Nav it shows up as HDG on Honeycomb strange. I wonder if it because it’s LNav and not Nav. APR also not working but if you set it in the plane it lights up on HC. I’m using the latest Working Title. Would you see if it’s the same as yours. I do know YD is engaged wit AP.

  • Hi Rmag and greetings from Grand Rapids, Michigan. I’m watching your video here again and decided to write to you - even though the video states that it’s over 2 years old - regarding a question involving the dual Mag/Start switches on the Baron. I have the Honeycomb A&B set and would like to know if it’s possible to access/activate each engine switch with the single switch on the Honeycomb Alpha? Would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you! Randy

    @CFI_Randy@CFI_Randy7 ай бұрын
    • Since it is a single switch it will engage both starters/mags. If you want to start each engine separately, just keep the mixture off on the one you don’t want to start. Alternatively you could probably map one of the Alpha switches to be a left or a right so that a combination of a “switch on” plus start switch is left starter, “switch off” plus start switch is right starter. I never tried it though.

The hands on video of you pushing the switch cuts out after you set the anti-ice on). This may be related to update 5 but I cannot validate the switch change until I return the switch back to its original start position. • I use X-Plane 11 primarily. I have programmed the NAV button to the closest binding that I believe will work flying the Baron 58. When I try to activate NAV when in the sim using the NAV button on the Bravo TQ it does not work, but if I use the mouse pressing the button it does. Can you help? Your videos are done very well and are easy to understand. Thanks

  • Outstanding video! Thank you for this. One question though. Just ordered the yoke and throttle from HC yesterday and I’m wondering how I’m going to use my rudder without having a joystick twist anymore and not yet owning pedals. I suppose I could always use a keybind on keyboard as I really will only need this axis while on ground. But curious if there is a better work around between the yoke and throttle quadrant.

    • The workaround is to get rudder pedals. If you invested the $$$ for an Alpha yoke and Bravo Quadrant, you really need to invest in the other 3rd of the flight controls.

    • @@RMAG I can agree on the sense of paying for the other 3rd considering money spent so far. Just trying to wait for HC’s rudder pedals they recently revealed. Something tells me it’s going to be a long wait. Actually that’s probably a big understatement. And I really don’t want to use keyboard bindings. Got any recommendations for alternatives?

    • @@treloarw I originally bought $130 Thrustmaster TFRP pedals which are light and plastic, they did the job, but they really did not feel or have the responsiveness of real pedals. They also moved around a bit too much when applying full pedal. I fly in real life, so I know how pedals should feel. I eventually replaced them with $590 Thrustmaster TPR pedals. Honestly these pedals are the gold standard. They were a massive leap in control over the TFRP’s. I have precision control, they are heavy and metal and feel like real pedals. Downside is they are expensive. Honestly, I highly doubt they will be surpassed by the Honeycomb Charlie Pedals, but I believe Honeycomb Pedals will probably be the best quality for their price, given Honeycomb’s other products.

    • @@RMAG one more question. The autopilot buttons that illuminate when selected. Do they only light up when selected? Or do they have a much lower level of illumination that will show at all times, then getting brighter when selected? It’s often pretty dark in my office/cockpit. Would be a nice bonus if they are always illuminated. But incredibly ironic if not, considering they went to the trouble if adding warning lights which, lets face it, are more of an “oh neat!” feature rather than being something super useful like illuminated buttons. Good on them for making them light up when selected but the thought should have crossed their minds to make them all easy to see whether they are currently selected or not? Maybe I’m expecting too much. Lol Looking forward to receiving mine nonetheless.

  • Recently got an Alpha so resetting the toggle switches on my Bravo like you showed here. Other than the frustration of figuring out which command turns the Longitude engine on and off (I got the Start 1 and Starter 2 to work), I am also wondering if there is a trick to programming 3-way switches. For example, some planes have a fuel pump with low/high/off settings. When I program a switch, turning it on goes to High. Any suggestions? Thanks
