  • Very nice comparison! I currently use the Bravo in a GA twin prop setup, and quite like it. The switches don't work too well with MSFS IMHO, so I disabled them. But the trim wheel, gear selector and flaps switch are all really nice. The auto pilot controls are okay, although I would have preferred dedicated dials for the different functions. The best part are the levers and their sensors, they feel great and at least on my unit have no jitter at all.

  • I have a CH Products setup with an old yoke and pedal combo that I bought used back in 2001. Works fine. Still, I wanted to upgrade to the Honeycomb system but when I saw the footprint of the Bravo at my local store, there was no way. They're huge. I also don't like the idea that if something breaks, it will be a headache to try and fix. I liked the Saitek but in the end I chose the CH Quadrant to match my existing setup. I like that it's small and I'm hoping it lasts as long as my yoke and pedal. $90 wasn't a bad deal either. I'm also going to buy a X-Touch Mini to make up for some of the buttons and knobs that the CH lacks. Also if something breaks, the cost to replace it won't be too bad.

  • Hello, For a few days I've got the Thrustmaster TCA Throttle that looks like a real Airbus throttle and I think it's not a good one if you want to fly many different aircrafts. Maybe it's good for Airbus, maybe good for some other liners or 2 engines aircrafts but not done for GA aircrafts. For most aircrafts I still use a Logitech Throttle Quadrant. You can fly any plane with that kind of quadrant, not with the TCA Quadrant. You often needs 3 axes (throttle, propeller, mixture)

DeoxIT D100L-25C Precision Needle Applicator, More Than A Contact Cleaner, 25 mL, Pack of 1 you're most likely gonna have to pop the screws off the bottom and open up the lid and clean all the contacts. • I bought the new Logitech throttle (with USB) and Honeycomb Yoke to replace my Saitek Throttle (old Logitech with round plug) and yoke. I didn't need the new throttle except for the plug end would not work with the Honeycomb. Anyway, am I off base in thinking Logitech is hot garbage? The Honeycomb Yoke was plug and play, BUT I am still trying to get the Logitech throttle adjusted. I am realizing when I was all Logitech product I was probably spending more time in the settings than flying the sim! Adjusting, updating drivers, re-loading and re-trying and flying to find more bugs was a cyclical loop. I'm considering sending the throttle back and getting the Honeycomb Bravo throttle even though I don't really want to take up that much space, but if it is plug and play it will be worth it. I am still using FSX until my new more powerful computer arrives, then I will consider MSFS2020. Suggestions?

  • 1:50 It is not dust per se. Sensors in those are potentiometers, potentiometers are shit and should not be used in any flight sim gear post 2018. Potentiometer has inherent noise (that is what you saw as twitchy axis) and can degrade over time, you can clean it but it will be temporal solution for like a week to month. Some of throttles or joysticks has noisy potentiometers right from the box just unpacked.

    @MrHistoryguy1955@MrHistoryguy195510 ай бұрын
    • If multi engine, you can assign all engines to just one lever or you can assign each engine to it's own lever. For these Saitek throttles I've always like to have the throttle in the middle controlling all engines, and the left and right for spoilers/flaps.

  • One thing not mentioned which is THE most important: the inside technology. Potentiometers are shit. Potentiometers will spike eventually as they collect dust or even worse: the potentiometer itself starts to wear (which WILL happen) and the product becomes useless. As far as i know Honeycomb and Logitech(former Saitek) uses potentiometers. Trustmaster uses HALL sensors: a magnet that moves over a sensor (NO physical contact lik,e with potentiometers) and is much more accurate and will NOT wear or spike. The Honeycomb looks so much better to use as a 737 throttle, even with the 737 expansion online for sale but i tell you: after a year of use, the levers will start to spike. Be smart with the choice :)

  • I use a dual Virpil throttle setup. A CM3 model for left/right throttle complete with detents and an older CM model for left/right prop. The CM also has two dials which are perfect for mixture. They’re mounted to my chair using MonsterTech chair mounts. Perfect for flying GA twins but also work nicely for other configurations. They do use a combat HOTAS layout, so technically more suited for military aircraft in terms of immersion, but once you go HALL sensors, there is no going back and since I also play DCS World and IL-2, it’s a great solution for what I need my setup to do. If they ever make a Bravo Pro model or something with HALL sensors, I’d be tempted to get one for airliners. I just can’t stand having to deal with either the throttles twitching all over the place, or having to apply a filter to solve that, which then makes it almost impossible to make fine adjustments.

    @mb944@mb944 Жыл бұрын
    • After owning two of them I wouldn’t do it again. I feel like they got worse after I added the 737 stuff too. Because it puts a small amount of weight on the axis. But I still used them for a couple of years. All three axis would twitch. When trying to put flaps out it would constantly try to retract from the notch I had set. If you can set a dead zone to eliminate the noise then it might work out okay. I wasn’t using deadzones back then.

      @mb944@mb944 Жыл бұрын
  • Most of these cheap plastic throttoys are using old and cheap potentiometers which will eventually lead to the twitchy that you mentioned for the saitek one, and they are low res. The VirtualFly metal deal is certainly not but with too much a co$$$t. The thrustmaster ones are underwhelming but are good for their contactless hall effect sensors which are inherently not prone to the twitchy like the pots and generally have better precision/resolution. Unfortunately the VKB one is not like their other great product that uses hall sensors, but likely they are using higher quality pots as they are a much better company than those stingy toy makers. The honeycomb bravo is generally over praised given its low res cheap potentiometers and bad wiring for the buttons on the handle which are prone to pinch after months or few yrs of use. Too bad there are no civilian sim throttles existing that are good enough to be the equivalent to those combat sim throttles made by Virpil, Winwing, and the one is making by the VKB. One thing though, if you are flying (single engine) combat aircraft and also into single engine GA, the VKB Gladiator NXT EVO + OTA(Omini Throttle Adapter that converts the former joystick to a "throttle") might be a better choice. Albeit with a similar price you can get Winwing's F18 throttle grip on the Gemini throttle/collective base for a twin-engine setup... It's really a shame that almost everyone is only interested in making these overpriced (and some of them are stuck in obsoleted tech for decades) plastic toys, and few others only make semi or full professional level products that are too expensive, with no middle-ground. Oh I forgot there is one from the Fulcrum Simulator Controls in the making. And if honeycomb can finally ditch their pots carry over from the old saitek age and fix those weak points, it will become something really worthy to be recommended as an entry-level product.
