Khabib's reign wasn't long enough for two reasons 1- he had a devastating injury in 2014 right before his title shot after beating RDA and set him off for 2 years 2- Conor stole Khabib's title shot in 2016 and delayed his title fight for another 2 years Khabib was literally the uncrowned champ years before becoming the official champion.
Yeah I agree, if they want to be fair, Khabib would've minimum 5 title defenses if they gave his title shot in 2016, add no.4 ranked Barboza and no.5 ranked RDA wins of Khabib as title defenses, that would make 5 title defenses.
Its not a given he wins those fights his striking was awful in those days he used to get cracked frequently. By the end of his career it wasnt a hole anymore
@@sloppygoonot really no lol.

Blatant cultural appropriation
😂
It’s not about title defences, the eagle 🦅 would maul any man in history at 155 . Such was his total dominance in every fight
Khabib left before he could solidify himself. He didn’t have enough top wins to cement himself. He had clear flaws in his game and didn’t fight anyone with good enough wrestling to test him. Number of defenses doesn’t matter unless that number is so much lower than the rest of the field, and Jon jones, Silva, gsp all have drastically more defenses. He only had 13 fights in the ufc in total and while the ones he’s compared to have close to that number in defences. Khabib could possibly have been the best of all time. He had the skills, but he didn’t fill out the resume required to get that title.
Cringe
I'm very surprised to see some people criticizing Khamzat for struggling against Usman. Kumaru Usman is one of the most elites fighters to have ever stepped foot in the Octagon. He also has insanely great wrestling skills. Yes, Khamzat did less damage to him than any other fighter he ever fought. But Usman also conceded four takedowns from Khamzat. If I'm not mistaken, Usman's only conceded one takedown in his entire career against Edwards prior to this fight. That's still pretty damn impressive.
He's a short notice 36 year old 170er with blown knees that's never had a fight at 185 and he's on the verge of retirement...
@@The_Reality_Filterboth arguments are fair cos khamzat also broke his wrist/hand in the 1st apparently
@@connerpollitt3661has he shown the x ray yet? Otherwise I call bullshit, he just has a weak ass gas tank.
No it's people being dissapointed Khamzat not living upto the hype he created, he was suppose to be that phenom walking through everyone, Remeber they were hyping him up as a 3 division champ
@@moonvenerable7897 about the same time they were saying Izzy could beat Jones!!! 🤪
“Diving for the legs” it’s mma not boxing. Take downs are allowed, deal with it. It’s smart strategy if you have the ability.
It’s also on the man who had the highest takedown defence in UFC history. 1 takedown given up prior to the fight and then Khamzat gets 4 in one fight on him. Smart strategy that he was able to pull of multiple times too.
Usman went into the ufc as a wrestler not rare braindead brain take
@@jacobwestern9065 i think he was trying to blow usmans knees out by spamming takedowns. but usmans knees held up ruining khamzats strategy and ultimately giving usman the win in most peoples eyes.
@@johnmarkson1998 maybe, but I think it was more his hand was compromised in the first and then that completely shafts any game plan. Impossible to get a proper takedown on a wrestler like Usman with one hand, and Usman already probably had the striking advantage with 2 hands, never mind 1. A draw would’ve been correct but if I had to give it either way, Khamzat just nicks it. Both have excuses, run it back.
Usman was a short notice 36 year old 170er with blown knees that's never had a fight at 185 and he's on the verge of retirement...
What a lot of people forget about Khabib: he was the uncrowned champion since 2014. He won every round vs Dos Anjos and later that year, Dos Anjos won the title. I think it was clear to everyone who the top dog was since that year.
🤮🤮🤢
Khabib can kick your a$$ too @@isxxc123
Khabib is, was and will remain King of UFC, no one stand against him
Yeah he was number 1 contender after that fight but it took until 2018 for him to get his shot because of circumstances like injuries, tony fight falling through and conor holding up the division. The road to just becoming the champion took so much out of him that it didn't really matter to him that he walked away after "only 3 defences"
@@youngclueless7364 He beat everyone and leave, nothing wrong with that
- Do you think that Khabib needed so many title defenses to be the GOAT? - My answer is NO - For the simple reason that Khabib didn't leave any contender behind him that could dethrone him in the lightweight division. No Tony, No Oliveira, No Chandler, No one. Period. - We are talking about the most DOMINANT fighter in the history of any combat sport: Never lost .. Never cut .. Never knocked down .. Arguably NEVER lost a round.
McGregor literally took a round off him in the judges score cards lol. He ain’t the goat Jon Jones is the goat the man is the youngest champion, has most defences, longest streak and most wins lol Jon Jones was fighting the best his whole career not his fathers shows
@@seanquinn8790 reyes arguably beat jones whats your point? he lost two rounds to reyes although it was a close fight
@@seanquinn8790jones cheats like poking eyes illegal strikes and 💉💉💉 also the Reyes fight he lost and Gustafson
Khabib is a weight bully hypocrite, he’s trash
I mean Khabib is still the Lightweight GOAT but in the overall GOAT conversation you can name three, four or even five fighters who surpass him in that regard (GSP, JBJ, DJ, Fedor, Anderson). The fact Khabib can be placed so high is being generous despite to his undefeated record and absolute dominance inside the cage. But compared to the other GOAT candidates Khabib does lack the title defenses and resume to be considered the MMA GOAT even if 155 is one of the best divisions in the UFC.
Khabib's greatness isn't based upon his title defenses; it's based upon him being the most dominant fighter in combat sports history. Not to mention that the UFC allowed Conor to take the lightweight belt as a hostage for 2 years, so Khabib didn't get a title shot earlier. Khamzat won a 10-8 rounds against Usman, and nobody else has done that, but he didn't make any adjustments later om
That's what I'm thinking. Yes, he doesn't have many title defenses but does that matter? It doesn't look like he would have lost to anyone.
Usman on a week and a half notice though lol. Then Usman went on to win the next two rounds. Should have been a draw
@@will.42069 Strickland literally beat up Adesanya on a short notice, many fighters do this. Usman is an all time great. He even has a win over Strickland. Even when Usman fought Masvidal the first time, he had to make it a boring fight because his nose had been broken during training camp and he had no real gameplan.
@@alcottdevalte7440 Strickland had way over a month to prepare not a week and a half. “Many fighters do this” not on a week and a half’s notice against an up an comer like chimaev. Imagine brushing that too one side what a dumb argument. Fighters break their noses literally all the time. It’s one of the most common injuries and pretty much every other fight a fighter will be going in with some kind of injury. Also doesn’t take away from the fact on a week and a half’s notice Usman took him to what should have been a draw
Exactly, he was dominated against weaker opponents, his resume doesn’t compare to GSP’s or Jon Jones
When Brian says see you at Oktagon he means he’ll be fighting. Look at the battle scar.
Now that I would like to see
definitely a sparring accident. Geordie by flying knee lets goo
Have we just like forgotten that Kamaru was a world champion not too long ago and pretty much smashing everyone he faced until Leon? By all metrics this was the most human Kamaru has been made to look inside the octagon and to me that only speaks to how fucking good Khamzat really is.
Exactly what I thought, yet true Geordie’s response is “khamzat isn’t the dominating fighter we thought he was.” After he just dominated arguably one of the greatest welterweights of all time for 1 round and competed extremely well for 2.
Anyone who can 10-8 Usman in a round with take downs and back pack threats is a psycho killer
When you think of devastating head kicks, that is up there.
Us mans head kick was way more devastating, he was out.
People are dissapointed Khamzat is not living upto the hype he created, he was suppose to be that phenom walking through everyone, Remeber they were hyping him up as a 3 division champ. It's time for people to put respect on Makhachev's name whether you like him or dislike him what he did that night was otherworldy finishing former p4p#1 fw goat Volk the first 3min.
I think its doable. Chimaev beats Edwards and Strickland for me and if he were to move to the lhw which isn't really that stacked, I could see him being lhw champion
Lmfaooo poaton would send him to the shadow realm
The Key to Khabib 's legacy is that almost every fighter he fought and Dominated was never the same fighter after he finished with them. Sure they fight, but he's taken the sheen off most of the fighter he's run through. A part of their soul left their body.
I'm a big Usman fan but the weekend showed me what level Khamzat is at, his game plan in a 3 round fight was takedowns in round one and took the first round easily, then give the crowd some stand-up in round two knowing the first round was boring for the fans plus he wouldn't get knocked out against a knockout artist! then just went for the takedowns in round three to secure the victory even though he gave up round two by trading with Usman instead of taking him to the ground again (good takedown defence from Usman). I think if they fought again in a 5 round fight with Usman having a full camp, I still think the result would go the same way... and I think Khamzat walks (takes down Strickland) in every round (again big Strickland fan, the guys f....... hilarious, but that won't help fight Khamzat ... Top work 🥊
“Gave the crowd some standup in round 2” he didn’t throw anything 🤣
@@will.42069 I didn’t say he landed and battered Usman in round two! I said they kept the fight standing up on the feet! What’s so hard to understand from my first comment especially when I said Usman took the second round 🤦🏾♂️
@@Kickstart_Magazine maybe “giving the crowd some standup” means something different where you’re from
@@will.42069 where I’m from it means they didn’t go to ground and stayed on their feet unlike the first and third round, hope that helps with clarification…
@@Kickstart_Magazine it definitely doesn’t mean they stood in the centre of the octagon looking at each other for 2 minutes before throwing anything 🤣 then Usman won the round you’re praising khamzat for “giving the crowd a stand up fight” in.
Usman has to acknowledge the little wins he got from the fight. Taking a fight against someone like chimaev in such short notice is something not anyone will do. To be able to defend against such a good grappler and keep up the pace and even out strike him is so respectable. Sure he didn't get the W but what he showed everyone he is still up for challenges and that's a W for any true fighter.
He's a warrior, he's not gonna pat himself on the back for losing..
It literally should have been a draw. Khamzat 10-8 in the first round (wasn’t a crazy 10-8 either. Was bare minimum for a 10-8) then Usman won rounds 2 and 3 off of damage.
Brian deffo headbutted a wall when he heard about the Tonali ban
Getting manhandled and ragdolled is way more important than significant strikes. Khabib, GSP and many grapplers have proven that over and over in times. Striking is good for boxing and Kickboxing type scenario. But MMA, you need something to dominate your opponent!! Dominance is always the most important aspect of MMA!!
They changed the UFC rules recently………control time is not as important under the new rules.
Except when fighters are both good wrestlers it always turns into a striking match …. So striking is definitely important
Those rule changes mean nothing since all judges have their own way of scoring.@@lukefreeman4281
cut yourself shaving, great advert for your sponsor manscaped - looks like you tried shaving with an actual lawnmower
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Everyone forgetting Khamzat broke his right hand in the first round and still was able to control the last round
I'm so annoyed the usman fight wasn't 5 rounds, make that 5 and usman grows massively into the fight. Khamzat just wrestled for the points decision.
Usman declined 5 rounds, whos to say khazmat would fight the same way if it was 5 rounds Keep the excuses
@@hansg6015the excuses are everywhere. And after the fact that Khamzat said he broke his hand in the first round. Makes sense why he slowed down. Usman a beast tho. Respect to that dude. He fought everybody.
Usman himself turned down 5 rounds
I mean the fight should have been a draw. Khamzat 10-8 in the first round then Usman won rounds 2 and 3
Alhamdulillah! Save Palestine. Save Humanity
Nice to see Brian opening up the third eye
Geordies grappling commentary 🤪🥸
i thought the first round was super interesting because no one had ever done that to Kamaru besides leon tripping him into mount but there was never a major submission threat there
Khamzat struggled? Was that when he bummed him for the whole of round 1, lets see anybody else do that to usman.
well he struggled in the 2nd n 3rd. yes he had a compromised hand, but he’s got two more legs n another arm to lay on usman n he didn’t do it. and considering it should’ve been a draw, yea he struggled.
he was gassed by the end. if u can survive the opening round he does tire out
@@akennett469He didn’t struggle at all Gilbert was a closer fight and when we mention Burns or Usman we are on about very elite fighters. Khamzat R1 control, TD R2 and another TD R3. Usman maybe landed 3 good strikes in the fight Khamzat is your nightmare.
Yes. He struggled with Usman like literally every MMA welterweight would. He beat him fair and square but aside from the first round this was not a clear decisive victory for Khamzat.
He lost the fight pretty obviously in my opinion.
Ahh true geordie has come out for the first time this year for a ufc review 🎉🎉
Yeah man that Leon headkick was insane
Old joke
I think usman showed he’s still go it, only thing he lacked was confidence. He should have let his hands go and if he did I think usman could have KO’d him cus chimaev was tired. A a draw could have been reasonable at the end of that fight. A rematch between usman and chimaev sounds fair seen as though it was over a weeks notice.
A draw was more than reasonable considering Usman definitely won the 2nd and 3rd round based off of damage and khamzat getting a 10-8 in the first
Best Man, great Videos!
Don't forget khamzat fractured his arm In around 1, you have no idea how painful it must've been. As a fighter I'm telling you, it's one of the worst things you can go through during a fight
He didn't tho
He actually shown x rays to prove that though?
@@meantime69he did he said he feels pain even after the fight check the video
How does that explain getting gassed after rd1? Khamzat's cardio is sus af. Get past the first round and you have a great chance of beating him
@@boxingstar7749 he said he broke his hand … but I haven’t seen any X-rays to prove that.
Wow. The first video Geordie does about a viral headkick knockout against the pfp 1 fighter!
Another great shirt geordie 👌🏼
Much rather see makachev fight gaethje next rather than the oliveira rematch
I really hope Volk doesn’t rush back to fight Topuria. Take some time off to recover and train, but don’t rush back I also think Chimaev won round 1 10-8 and Usman won rounds 2-3 10-9. I don’t usually say robbery or that the results should be different, but Usman deserves the draw
after that headkick, he won't be cleared that early IMO
Considering khamzat broke his hand in r1 I'd say he did pretty good
Also have to remember khamzat broke his right hand in the fight
he thinks. if he did, his cardio was still suspect and 5 rounds would have been bad news for him
He was seen on a plane after the fight using both his hands fine so I doubt he did
If that's true
Khamzat broke his hand? Or Usman broke Khamzat’s hand?
Khabib was a welterweight for most of his MMA fights and he was also a welterweight in SAMBO and become 2x World and Russian champion and in UFC he fights in the most hard division (LW) and dominance every the top LW + Khabib should be the champion in (2016) but we all know what happened in UFC 205
first time i see true Geordie's analysis and i have to say, amazing one.
He did get a 10-8 round and I’m not sure anyone has done that to Usman
Love the outro brian hahah
Nice Biggie sweater you're rocking at the start there!
What a beautiful head kick by Edwards. I’m so glad that you finally made a video about it
I kept blowing on that cut like it was a crumb on my screen.
I think once a take down happens a 30 second timer should start and if nothing significant happens in those 30 seconds then both fighters get stood up
Usman said he would fight dricus on ufc 300 I think that’s the way to go honestly
Khabib struggled when it came to striking, hence why he went to wrestling, which was the reason why he's the best UFC fighter other than Jon Jones. So why is Chimaev now seen as disappointing for doing the exact same thing??
The Maui Thai clinch we don’t see in the modern era?😂😂 bro watches 2 ppvs a year how the f do you no 😂😂
What a clip to show, @ 2:10 watch kamaru cheat by grabbing the fence the ref just sat there looking at it

Great take. Agree jones is careful with his legacy and doesn’t want to risk it against an upcoming contender like pavlovich or aspinal
Why so many last minute fights? What's going on at the organization
Would love to see pain games fights of the week get some big fight and small fights with commentary and even random shitty street fights
Yea Gaethje should be next, already seen Charles and that fight was no where close. No rematches plzz in 155
Guru vs Geordie, book it
Kept on thinking that cut on his head was a mark on my screen
That 5 rounder against Strickland is going to be interesting as hell. If Khamzat doesn't get it done within 2 rounds his chances plummet.

Have to be honest, mate, I agree with most of what you say, but taking usman down is not an easy thing, Leon edwards was the first to do it when he won the title. I think he came in with a great game plan, usman is world class but tbh, on a full camp I belive it would have been the same result. Usman 3 loses in a row, would not like that rematch, he will decimate Strickland also, its no secret everyone is avoiding him for a reason. 😅

Usman was devastated because Khamzat took him down 4 times.. that's Embarrassing for a top level wrestler..
Usman is one of the best fighters in the world, maybe for a period of years he was arguably the best. Of course Khamzat is going to struggle to defeat such a man. People act like he's washed up or something, Usman will likely make another title run, he's still on top his game.
No he won’t lmao. He’ll probably retire after his next fight.
When you get done for PEDs (Jon Jones) u are disqualified from claiming GOAT status. Khabib was a clean athlete and UNMARKED in 28 fights and DOMINATED everyone. He made his entire division look like they were mere mortals in comparison. He does have claim to GOAT status
Is this the closest Geordie has gotten to talking about Usman vs Edward's?
Is this true geordie???
Disagree with Geordie here, he shot for the legs because he wrestles to smash, that's one of the ways he smashes, just like a Khabib smashing. This idea that wrestlers shoot to avoid the stand-up needs to go, Chimaev simply dictates where he wants the fight.
Shooting on the best wrestler there’s been at 170 15 seconds in. I think that takes balls
Yeah you never see Muay Thai clinch in the ufc anymore!! I miss prime Anderson silva so bad. That Muay Thai decimation of Franklin was a thing of beauty. Can’t believe people think Izzy is the greatest middleweight ever , blows my mind.
Two big problems with setting up Khamzat fights… 1) Nobody wants to fight him! 2) He has a russian passport making it extremely difficult for him to fly to the US
Does he not also have a swedish paasport?
Oktagon 48... Yeah... Let me know how that goes... 😏

Recency biases are real but.. we forget about the dominance of Jones at light heavy for years!!

There was no one for Khabib to defend against, he owned everyone there was to own.
subbed and liked.
*- Usman BARELY survived rd 1, seconds away from being submitted.* *- How many UFC fighters would have better defensive wrestling than Usman?* Exactly! Most of opponents even on full camp, don't get past rd 1 & instead everyone is talking about how dominant Khamzat is, Again
Consider that Makhachev refuses to have even a nickname (he told coach Javy he doesn't want one). There was an instant b4 the first Volk fight where Makhachev told Khabib _"if only we didn't have to do these press events"_ to which Khabib responded, _"ok there is an easy solution, just give your belt back"_. I am paraphrasing of course, but ya'll get the point, he's a much quieter & subdued guy. He is much less charismatic than Khabib. Now despite the fact that only your in fight performance should matter, reality says otherwise. Thats precisely why Conor is such a big draw despite losing 3 of his last 4 in dominant fashion. Like it or not, charisma, nicknames, etc matter even though they shouldn't. Had Makhachev mastered those facets of MMA, he would certainly be a much bigger star. But the fact that he is such a big star already, tells you just how good he is. Interestingly you can see charisma, laughter & those marketable traits when he does interviews with DC, his former teammate.
Surprised you didn't react to Volk's post fight interview
Agree 100% about usman. And Alexander
No one has ever done that to Usman, not even close, so I don't get this angle you're taking.
I agree with what u said about Jon at heavyweight but it's what he done at Light heavy cleaned out the division full of legends, still think Ngannou is the badest man on the planet 👊

It's true Khamzat seems like bit of a flat track bully at the moment but he definitely wipes the floor with Strickland
Whats brian talking about hows picking mfs up and slamming them to the ground and pounding their face in. Not terrifying and the very essence of smashing people. I agree he didn't look good in this fight but acting like he dived in for takedowns because ges scared of getting punched just isnt true

Confused as to how you could get a title shot without fighting Whittaker or Dricus or really anyone in the division.
In the same way when Strickland beat new guy to get a title shot. That's how UFC works....don't use logic 😊
