While Volk was practicing takedowns and takedown defense. Everyone, me included, thought this would take the direction of the first fight... Islam caught us short!

  • Volk never felt the real Makhachev. Islam was dehydrated. He won't be this time and the power difference will be felt. Islam, though, he felt the real Volk and knows what to expect. Add to that Khabib is training with him and is going to be in his corner. We all know how morale and leadership can change the equation in any fight, battle or war.

  • 0:50 Alex doesn't have such punching power to knock Islam out, and even if he knocks him down, Islam will tie him up and prevent him from finishing him off. Before the first fight with Alex, Islam underestimated his opponent and drew conclusions from this. The huge difference in time zones and poorly organized weight cutting played a negative role on Islam’s physical fitness and cardio, he looked exhausted before the start of the fight. In this case, all these factors have developed in a positive direction, and the feeling of having Khabib in the coaching corner will give a feeling of confidence. I think this time Alex won’t be able to escape the submission.

Volks doesn't need to change anything just not as cautious like the first fight. If Volk starts off faster I think he wins this but if he does the same like the last fight, I feel he Islam wins.

  • Izzy is a great fighter but he should shut up after his last bout. I'm positive volk thought he would beat Sean but look what happened. Dude won't even fight his rematch that the company guaranteed him. Then again it might be because the fans won't buy Izzy's ppv card as much as they would prior to if he got his his belt back from Strickland when y'all thought he didn't deserve to.

  • Volk in not going to be in 5-round, lightweight-title-fight shape. The late notice, the travel, the jetlag, the lack of a proper camp. These will all add up to a chase-the-finish strategy. There is no way Volk can play the fitness game and win in the later rounds.

    • @@drizzypizzman5849 Perhaps you are right. Physical fatigue was not really an issue. Mental fatigue is a different story. A 12-round boxer should have fewer mental lapses than a 6-round boxer. Anyway, I hope Volk gets back to his division and collects a record number of title defenses. If he falls short by 2 fights, we might have to blame this dream of double champ status.
