Join me as I set off on another epic tank build. This time the incredible 1/6 scale Hetzer or Jagdpanzer 38 tank by Armortek.
In this video - I commence the lengthy process of track building and test fit one of the completed tracks to the tank for the first time.
Don't worry, I time lapse the majority of the build 😀
Hope you enjoy

  • Hi Tony. Assembling a truck is monotonous and takes a long time, so the work is definitely not fun. You're right, it's something unique to tanks that gives you satisfaction when you complete it! However, I am impressed by Tony's fast pace. I'm looking forward to the next time.

Good morning and thank you for watching, commenting and continuing to support my channel. The track assembly is by far the most monotonous part, but as you say, equally satisfying when complete. It really does transform the look of this wonderful little Hetzer...Now on to test them with some power.🤞😀

  • Usually I enjoy doing single link tracks on my 1/35 scale builds first. Seeing you using a sharp pin tool to open up those track pin thingies maybe it would be a little bit more safe to open those using a (dull) blade?!? Your Hetzer look stunning on its tracks! Even without getting the tracks more tension they just look right. Thank you for another video, Tony!

    • Track links...oh track links...they do not get any easier do they? I have tried multiple tools to open the split pins, but this, as I call it..my 'Sharp pointy tool"😂 seems to work best...I will have to shop on Amazon for new finger tips me thinks, but relieved that I have completed my third set of tracks without loosing a digit😂 1:35 scale track assembly must take more patience and you have my admiration...My big old sausage fingers would not cope with that. Thank you for your continued amazing support.

  • Hello, my least favorite thing about armor modeling is building the tracks. Conversely, it's one of the most satisfying parts of the kit once they're completed. It's looking splendid! Regarding the battle damage. You might go to Night Shifts channel. He does 1/35 scale plastic kits. His weathering, painting, and battle damage work is amazing! I'm enjoying your work on this build as always. Thanks again for sharing this with us. Cheers!

  • Those spilt pins were such a pain (literally in my case), just watching you do them made me wince with the memory :-) I took a link out on mine to sort out the tension but interestingly your tracks look tighter than mine on the inital fit. I would advise not securing the pins until you have tested the tracks in motion and most imprtantly under load just in case you run into the bushes coming loose as I did. Hopefully you won't and the issues I had with the sprockets coming loose was just down to my bodging.

    @daniel_scholefield@daniel_scholefield3 ай бұрын
    • Hi Daniel....OMG! those pins especially on these smaller links were painful. Need to buy some new finger tips from Amazon😂. Video not up for a couple of weeks, but I road tested it today to see how it performed. I too had to remove a link as I found the track was slapping and not binding with the sprocket as well as it should do. Removed a single link each side and now it seems to work perfectly...I can see why AT swapped out the Sprocket rings for steel as there is no real room for tolerance on this kit. I checked the bushes and they seem fine....Time will tell I suppose. I don't think it was your "bodging" mate...so stop beating yourself up...I think it is down to the smaller link size and very little tolerance to work with....I can see why aluminium sprocket rings worn down so quickly...

  • Tony: I feel your pain, I took one side off my 1:4 KT to do some Winter/Spring prep and it is a pain doing it alone. Back up and running, took it out in the damp weather and ran well. Now I am welding up the frame structure and hull on the Tiger 1 and having the turret is being in 2 pieces from rolled aluminum and then welded together. Tedious process as I enter this into a 2 & 3D CAD program for the Fab shop here to make my pieces. Hang in there and keep moving ahead on your project.

  • G'day Tony. Purely an idle enquiry mate, do you find any issues with Armortek's molding of the track links? Do you find any problems with individual links interacting adversely with each other or find distortion when inserting the track pins? There does not appear to be any problems on the videos and I can't recall it being an issue with the Tiger or the M26, but given how often the little reamer is needed to remove excess flash or holes need to be drilled out and the debacle with the hull casting on the M26, it seems strange that they could consistently get one thing right first time. Cheers Mate, do try and stay on England's shores and not get blown or flooded into the Channel. Regards from Australia.

    • Hi Christopher and greetings from the UK. I have had no such issues with any of the links for all three tanks...sometimes the hole in the track pins need to be cleaned out, but that is very rare. The casting on the track links as far as my experience is concerned is first rate. Some of the cast parts on these kits do need some work sometimes, but it is all part of the journey and I actually enjoy that part...I think it connects the builder to the kit and adds to the sense of satisfaction when complete. Thank you for watching and commenting and hope you continue to follow this build. Best wishes from a very cold and damp England😀

    • Hi Gary...I had to buy a new set of finger tips from 'Amazon' afterwards🤣🤣...I hate and love this part at the same time...frustrating and monotonous but also very satisfying when complete. I have had no issues with any of the links on this or the Tiger & M26. Looking forward to a good break in the weather, so we can take the kids(aka our tanks) out for a spin. Have a great weekend mate.

  • Hello, I'm from Indonesia, I want to ask how you make the chain for the tank. I'm confused about it. Can you help me answer it?

    @user-yo9rt7gf1t@user-yo9rt7gf1t2 ай бұрын
    • Hi and thank you for watching and commenting. The track links are part of the kit from Armortek and to connect them together there is a track pin which passes through the interlocking holes in each link and then secured with a split pin through the pin hole in the track pin. Most of the larger heavy armour tank tracks are also secured with a washer(see my video for the Tiger - Video 10) but in this case the tracks are much smaller and the washer would bind on the links, so it is not required. I hope this answers your question.

    @davidligon2003@davidligon20033 ай бұрын
    • Hi David...hope all is well. Not on this kit...The track links are so small in comparison to the heavy armour tanks, the washers would probably bind with the links. Thank you for watching, commenting and your continued support.
