Well Miata Guys get offended easly
For many, it was an ego purchase. Makes sense they're often the biggest jaggoffs on the road.
Fun fact: Christian von Koenigsegg once had a Miata, and he love it. After that, he sells it for a reason I don't remember. But he trace back his original Miata and found it in a good condition. True car guy.

Teddy Roosevelt also loved his miata.
Wow a multimillionaire (billionnaire?) whose his entire fortune and interests revolving around cars, likes cars enough to be a true car guy? My guts tell me Enzo Ferrari was a true car guy too.
Compared to a lot of the crossovers of today, the Aztek is actually pretty tame looking. It was just ahead of its time.

No argument here! I can’t agree with you more. It was a very nice car. It was stolen from our driveway and it was fast!
I remember back in 2003 my parents were looking for a new car back home in Mexico. We went to our local Chevy dealership and I recall hopping in the back of an Aztec and thinking it was the most amazing thing ever. We bought a Chevy Astra, which was a rebadged Opel.

The Corvair also had a van. I owned both the van and the pickup truck. The latter had the very functional "ramp side," a drop down door on the right side, since there was a hump at the back to cover the engine. I carried many tone of manure and landscaping materials in that old truck, rear wheels splayed with so much camber. Never broke down. I'm surprised he didn't amplify on the fact that the 1965-1960 Corvair had a radically different rear suspension. In fact, it was pretty much the same as the Corvette of the era with a lateral leaf spring making the lower member. But by then Nader had done his damage.

They designed the Camaro as a more 'normal' replacement for the Corvair and to compete with the Mustang. They kept making the Corvair after they introduced the Camaro in 1967 basically to stick it to Ralph Nader because they didn't want people thinking they had cowed to him because of his book (the Corvair was still selling fairly well, especially after they put the fully-independent rear suspension out of the Corvette in it and had redesigned the body and introduced the Monza version).

#6 Another thing about the PT Cruiser no one really knew was about the turbo version. Initially the turbo option was only available with the convertible version of the car. Which didn't make sense to me because when you put an engine in a car that lets you spin the wheels and haul ass down the road you WANT the stiff roof in order to help with cornering. Because, and here's the part I was hinting at at the start, the turbo option didn't just slap a turbo on the standard 2.4 liter engine. It was the frickin 2.4 turbo used in the SRT Neon. That's right. The turbo PT Cruiser was an SRT even though it wasn't labeled as such. And no one knew. But now you know.

I've always loved the Aztec and wanted one as soon as I saw one. I owned a PT Cruiser and absolutely loved it. Great car, went really well in the snow and it was still going with 200,000 miles on it but I had to get rid of it because it was rusting so badly underneath. If I could have fixed it I'd still have it,but it would have cost almost $4000 to fix everything
I once worked at a quick lube as a pit tech. I loved seeing PT Cruisers come in. They were so simple on oil changes from the bottom side. The drain plug and oil filter were right beside each other. Everything from the top side sucked, though, like removing the airbox for a battery change.

My friend had a Pontiac Aztek in our mid 20s. His dad was a prominent business owner, and the dealership gave him a great deal so it would have one on the road. You sat higher than any minivan, crossover or even a lot of SUVs. The removable center console cooler was a nice feature while traveling. But that all glass rear hatch was heavy, and my friend replaced the gas shocks twice in the 5 years or so he had it. As for the Smart car, I went to the Toronto International Auto Show they year Smart was on their promo tour, and they not only had the Four2, but the Four4 and the Roadster, but the latter 2 were never officially released in North America. The 4 locked like a Neon station wagon, but the Roadster was actually nice, and would have been a contender for me to buy one. I see one pop up on used car markets once every 6 years or so.

The year is 2012. My buddys mom and dad were split, and hed travel 2 hours to go stay with her on the weekends. Him and his dad had purchased a cherried out 1972 gmc 1/2 ton 2wd in baby puke green at a farm action. It did have a holly double pumper, high rise intake, and a full dual exhaust fed by a pair of long tube headers. Truck was a beast. We learned really quickly 2 things. 1. People wanted to race this truck. 2. Undernieth 55 mph, his moms toyota prius would run almost exclusively on the electric motor, and stop light to stop light- nothing was faster then that car in that po dunk western nebraska town at the time. The NA Neon was a nice drive. The handling and ergos were a cut above most competitors, and it was quick for its time. The problem: it was so cheaply made most of the suspension bushings were gone by 30k. The connector for the starter was molded onto the wiring harness and frequently broke. The official fix was to replace the whole harness. Most owners didn’t bother. One thing the Neon didn’t need was a lot more power, but the SRT’s with their insane torque steer were the only models worth keeping around just for laughs. So, yeah, the Neon has a troubled legacy. The PT Cruiser was a pleasant car with the same problems as the Neon. You were either into the styling or not, but I admire Chrysler for not making it another Accord or BMW ripoff, which would have pleased the cool conformists (who still wouldn’t have bought it). The Corvair was a neat idea for a car, but it had problems exacerbated by GM’s management structure (accountants on top, marketing below them, engineers a few steps lower). The Corvair killed and maimed people who didn’t expect snap oversteer on the way to league night at the bowling alley. On the bright side, the only reason modern cars are as safe as they are is because the Corvair inspired Ralph Nader’s crusade. The Prius is a perfect car the way kale and oatmeal are the perfect foods, and is resented for the same reasons. “Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm for this thing I don’t want and never will, but I know your real motivation in doing so is just to feel better about yourself in relation to us unenlightened folk.” It’s a brilliant piece of engineering that became a rolling marker of self-righteousness in the hands of Al Gore supporters.
I must say, I daily drive a 1973 Ford Pinto station wagon with a 2.0L in it. When I put the engine together, it did receive a small cam, so it's got a chop. It's been called a panty dropper, a shaggin' wagon and the "badass little yellow wagon." I get compliments everywhere I go, and I couldn't have a more perfect car for my attention craving lifestyle.

11:37 "It liberated countries" that made me laugh. J. P. you are a funny guy.
lol I had several Corvairs and Corvans, all of the pre-65 vintage. Those were great cars so long as you didn't get a flat in the rear tires. They were smooth driving, quite, easy rolling vehicles. The Corvan got 15% better MPG than the VW van and were quieter and safer (excepting those rear flats). The 65+ models corrected that when they went with a proper rear suspension, what the car was originally designed to have. +1 for engineers over bean counters. It's major engine flaw was that seals couldn't deal with heat. You had to replace certain seals every 6 years, but you could drop/install the engine in 45 minutes. If you didn't swap those seals you'd get chunks of oil soaked dirt blowing thru the defroster vents and the car would smell like a 50's PU.
I had a 78 Pinto Cruisin wagon with the porthole windows. Loved that car.
You're telling me that Walter could have used the back of his Aztec as his meth lab?!
I don't even think he thought about it lol imagine the stories of he did
😂😂😂
Imagine the face of the guy at Pontiac if they saw that.

I loved and wanted an srt4. I took one out for a test drive when they came out and yeah, I was very impressed.
"[The Cybertruck] breaks all of the rules!.." Yeah, including (potentially) rules of the road...
Also Pinto means "dick" in Portuguese, wich makes it funny when James says there are a "an incredible amount of styles" available.
Also later when he needlessly censored D@#k Tracy, lol!
Guess what I felt when learnd that pajero means in spanish. I own Mitsubishi Pajero (montero in america)))))))))))
Spotted,.... Horse,..... Dick?
Pinto in Brasil it means dick, but in Portugal it means small chicken.
In English it's a type of horse, I guess Ford was going for a theme with the Mustang, Bronco, probably others
GM: *Jealously sees economy improving and other brands making cool suvs* *Announces electric Hummer* USA: Coronavirus, Cheap gas, economic recession
I had to look this up lol. The pick up kinda looks like a toy in a good way
Phillip w yeah I think it looks decent but idk about the electric drivetrain. I guess I’ll have to see how it plays out reliability wise.
2 outta 3 ain't bad
MrThirtyTwo yeah instant. It’s a good idea, just don’t know how well GM is gonna capitalize on it.
Mad respect for bleeping *ick Tracy. That's a legend move.
The "independent study" on the Corvair had a modified suspension and radial tires, which were a rarity back in the day. The car they were selling to the public was totally a hazard, and got people killed.
In Brazilian Portuguese "Pinto" means "Gentlemen Sausage".
@swtch_flp "Gentlemen sausage" is a (British) synonym for the word penis. If you watched Top Gear and the Grand Tour now, you should know it. ;-)
@@nightfly4664 I was going to comment that it had to be lifted from The Grand Tour or Top Gear, it's the only time I've heard it on TV in decades! The 80's was big on euphemisms because of the British board of film censorship banning naughty words and not allowing the medical terms either, so Stephen Fry and his generation of Cambridge lights comedians really took the ball from the Carry On films, and ran with it. Good times for comedy, less political correctness and fallout for comedians. Less vulgarity too, aside from Roy Chubby Brown style acts and some of the northern misogynist types. Though most of them are still in circulation behind closed doors, I guess they're the entertainment at the Conservative party conference, it's usually rich old boys booking them for gigs at gentleman's clubs and the like since no-one else is interested in comedy that intentionally, and overtly racist, sexist or other ists. Unless it's framed to be inclusive rather than exclusive, which brings us neatly back to Top Gear, where they take the piss out of everyone equally, and all insulted parties have a laugh because most of the time it's genuinely funny and isn't designed to harm or belittle anyone, the only reason they're allowed to still get away with it, when almost no-one else enjoys that level of comedic freedom in their material in today's scene. Just a shame The Grand Tour proper is over, I hope they plan on doing frequent specials, or s different format as there's really nothing else like it! I watch a lot of car related video content on various platforms, but I could honestly watch Top Gear for a couple hours every night. Brusque old men remind me of my dad.. Although I'm probably older than Hammond myself. I feel comfortable with that kind of bantering humour and it's inexorably being banned from the school and workplace, which makes me sad. I'm no advocate of bullying, but nor am I a fan of being so thin skinned about comedy and quite so precious about pronoun's. A little compromise goes a long way, that's how civilisations were build, and the personal uniqueness that everyone is celebrating, seems ironically to be leading to civilisations being torn apart. There's no I in team, instead of celebrating what we have in common people are worshipping at the altar of unique and special at any cost. Uh, that unexpected rant kinda popped out. Sorry folks, now you see what messing with comedy gets you ;)

I got over the stigma when I started playing NFS Hot Persute on the old PS2 that was the most capable base there. I've wanted one ever since.
I have to push back just a little bit on the cybertruck. The only thing I don't like about it is the bed shape seems like you would be impractical for a lot of the things that trucks are used for. I'm thinking in terms of hauling loads or adding slats to help with hauling loads putting on camper shells that sort of thing otherwise no complaints
I drove a 98 Neon for over ten years. It was, by a wide margin, the absolute best small car I've ever driven. I still miss it.
so, in portuguese "pinto" is a way of saying dick. I cried of laughing when I heard "thank a Pinto!"
Lol
So Pinto Bean is basically Dick Bean in Portuguese

So you know the Corvair has been declared totally safe and that Ralph Nader lied. As well the Pinto has been completely vindicated.
Yeah we really do have to give the Prius the credit it deserves it is a very functional and practical vehicle for people who need an affordable efficient practical vehicle and don't need the towing capacity or cargo capacity of an open bed.
Hey James, are you doing well? You"ve lost weight significantly
Yeah, i hope everything is fine, he lost at least 20 pounds 🤭
Isint that a good thing?
He had a heart attack recently(late 2019-early 2020), and he was ordered onto a dietary program after they saved him(in earlier videos and on their other social channels they explain it a bit). So I'm glad to see the results are starting to show
I’m sure it’s intentional after the Heart Attack. Congrats to James on the progress.
Let’s hope it doesn’t be like the Steve Jobs look soon.we love u brother
