"who would want a saturn?" My first car was a '99 SL2. It burned an insane amount of oil and eventually I seized the engine and essentially totalled it. Still managed to sell it to a self proclaimed "saturn collector" for 700 dollars. They do exist.
Bro I think I bought your car

My second car was a Saturn SL2 that I abused to all to hell. Love those cars.
If a Saturn quits leaking oil, it's out of oil. 😂 but other than that, I've had a few friends with saturns have really good overall luck with super low buck purchases. Ion (non redline) being one of them. Terrible cars, no doubt, in lots of cases. But some you just cant kill
Saturn sl was one of my favorite cars I've ever owned. Its had zero features so nothing ever broke.
I got a 10 year old standard transmission '95 SL1 with a bunch of miles. It made enough smoke I set off the fire alarm at my apartment, and made a smoky get away in a "music video" without a smoke machine (I should have taken better care of it, but it put up with me). With a gallon of oil and a quart of gas though I could go anywhere and have a blast doing it. I loved that car!! I'm so glad there was some standing up for Saturn owners in the video. It was still running fine when I sold it in '13 with well over 100,000 miles. The SL1 was beautiful simplicity (albeit oily simplicity) that made this 80's Jeep Cherokee driver feel like a low key race car driver. lol
I own a Redline making about 390hp at 340k miles and that things still pushing through, I mean the oil leak sucks but other then that those Saturn's will push through anything
My father worked for an OEM supplier most if his life (and his dad was a GM lifer) and the first new car he ever ordered was one of the very first SC2's. Still remember him placing calls to cancel options and when it arrived I fully expected it wouldn't have carpet. He died in 2020 and still owned it up to about 12 months earlier. Had about 65,000 miles, all dealer service records, no leaks, plastic was great since it spent little time in the sun. My idiot brother in law sold it for $900. Some Saturn freak would have paid far more.
Man, I hate that that happened.
I'm with you on this one I had an 04 Ion Lvl 3 it was supposed to be a fancier trim of the car but it still had pretty basic features and nothing ever broke on it because there was nothing to break. I sold it to someone for about 900 with 284,000 miles on it and it was still running strong.

My wife had an ion3 she bought with 30k miles on it. Drove it for 12 years, put 140k miles on it. Two sets of tires, a million oil changes, a wheel hub, and a set of coils and plugs and the crazy thing is still running. Sold it a couple years ago to an old lady for $1000 and she still drives it!
My dad has been an antique dealer and has done estate clean outs and auctions for well over 60 years, and throughout my entire childhood from 2000 to 2018 I was blessed enough to see some of the craziest barn finds/ estate garage finds ever. Its mixed feelings of wishing i could have been old enough to buy all the awesome stuff I saw and drive them, and a contentness knowing all the historic preservation he has been able to accomplish over the decades, both in the automotive sector, as well as countless other items that would have forever been lost. Things that changed the world.
That feeling SUCKS. Knowing you let a good or even great thing slip through your fingers. Estate cleaning sounds like a dream job to a gear head. Hell, I probably moved quite a few houses worth of s*** going through people's barns and garages looking at vehicles for sale.

Mid 2000s saturn owners know saturn doesn't owe us sh!t. Tourist donkey huggers take pop shots at the most reliable and affordable american made car EVER. I've owned both a Saturn Ion and a Dodge Caliber. I actually still have the Saturn. It's been, overall, really reliable. The Caliber, on the other hand... I had to replace the ball joints, tie rods, sway bar links, shocks, struts, and rear toe arms twice each in just four years. I had to replace the fuel pump and both front brake calipers. The forward frame rail rusted out, leaving the engine on the verge of falling out, though a factory recall on that part saved me from a $2000 repair. Finally, the fuse box under the hood started corroding, which apparently is a common issue. I got $400 for it when I traded it in, and the dealer literally had it scrapped because it would have needed almost another $5000 in repairs. The Caliber was easily the biggest piece of garbage Dodge ever put their badge on.

Along with the regal gs, the other sleeper going to the moon is the 2000s Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Comp G, 04+ Grand Prix GT and GXP versions, especially the 04+ cause the GTs with the supercharged V6 make factory 260 hp and with very minor tuning and upgrades can make well into 300, but that pails to the Pontiac Grand Prix GXP that they stuffed a 5.3L V8 into with 303 hp. I miss mine so bad, had the best feeling clutch and transmission. Parked it cause it needed a new timing chain at 250,000 it never left me stranded once. I got a 2018 wrx and ended up letting it go and have regretted it everyday.
@@jlucas9342 shifter was a little rubbery, but there were kits available to fix that. The clutch did engage exactly where I thought it should.
The plastic isn’t lighter then sheet metal.
I had an 06 ion redline competition package and it was just so odd and different. I’m glad James gets it
This has to be one of the funniest episodes So good
As part of the CSX project Carrol Shelby said the Charger GLHS was one of his favorite cars. All CSX cars are bound to go up in value, especially since 80s car desirability is on the rise. As for the Saturn, I’m pretty sure the scrapyard would haggle the price down to 50% of scrap value. Love the videos guys, keep them coming!
So glad Zach and Jerry were added to the donut lineup. Love those guys
“Saturns are totally unreliable” *me with my base model s-series with almost 200k*: 🤨
The are BULLETPROOF
S series are the best. Easy to work on. Light weight and go 300k miles.
I just got rid of mine a 260,000
The ecotec engine from GM in them is indestructible. Kinda sad they said Saturn's are garbage when their just rebadged GMs.
@@CodeineAbdulJabbar laughs in ion 3 with 240k
I forgot those Saturn ion redline existed but it does remind me of the sky redline which looked like the Vauxhall VX220/Opel speedster and shared the Pontiac solstice platform.
That mid 90's suburban is literally my family car it's on 24's it's pretty awesome
The Z31 300ZX is so fucking beautiful! It has always been one of my favourite JDM designs. I don't understand why it hasn't got any real attention compared to the Z32.
Too bad people like to jack the prices up on even pretty beat up and/rusty ones nowadays when they're honestly still not worth that much. This is ruining the Z car enthusiast base. I got mine for $600 running and driving, though it is a little rough in the cosmetics department.
JDM is “Japanese Domestic Market”. The Z31 was available and mostly marketed for the North American market. I guess what I’m saying is that it wasn’t “JDM”.
@@carshius79 there are many other models on the Z31 chassis and not just the 300zx. The 300zx is the most known Z31 car, though.
@@carshius79 I know what JDM means. I didn't know it was mainly targeted at the American market though. It's still fucking beautiful, especially in comparison to the Z32
@@carshius79 lmfaoooo I thought it stood for Japanese Driving Machine 😩
I love how many times James cracked Jeremiah up this episode, y'all have great chemistry and I'm absolutely here for way more of it to come
Maaaan! Up to speed has really gone far. Congrats Pumphery and the dudes
This is the hardest I’ve laughed at one of your videos in a while
All of these cars just went up 2k in value 😂
you're fucking w me, source?
@@yngfljm2277 xxxvideos
@@yngfljm2277 he's full of shit, i hauled my csx off to the junkyard 2 weeks ago, got $220 for it, felt like i got the better end of the deal. these cars are rolling piles of shit. they were garbage when they were new and after 30 years they are far worse. do not waste your time with anything front wheel drive by chrysler before 1996.
I hope so I own two on the list
"who wants a Saturn" Me wanting a Saturn Sky Redline
Me too I have a 07 Saturn ion 3 sedan and now I want the ion redline
I would LOVE a Sky! Hard to find a manual that isn’t black unfortunately
My brother and cousin have one they keeping it forever
My Sky redline has 186k.
Got to drive a Sky Redline when I had my Ion Redline. Man that was a fun car :D
always loved the marauder
My first car was a Saturn and I loved that thing. Accelerator stuck open so I'd have to kill power and hit the throttle with a hammer every time, but damn was it fun to zip around in a little plastic go-kart
We need more Jer and James videos, I was laughing the whole time
My family owns 2 Saturns, one of them is almost at 300,000 miles. My mom bought it new in '99 and it still runs today. That's the car I learned to drive manual on. If you take care of it it'll last forever.
Lets get another vid 😂, love this
Need an update video on how these are fairing so far and what the next lot to be interested in
