    • My downstairs neighbor (in a block cement complex) liked to yell/swear/fight with his 70+year old mother. Granted the guy had PTSD, but he wasn't even supposed to be there (thanks to a restraining order made against him, by his mom) The worst was when he would knock on my door in the middle of the night cause I got up to use the bathroom, and I made too much noise?! THANK GOSH I don't live anywhere near him anymore

  • My upstairs neighbour runs a marathon, in clogs, around their apartment every morning and then spends all afternoon moving their furniture around, evenings are spent strutting around in high heals before the random unexplained noises start at midnight and go on until 3am. • I had this issue a while back, my solution was I had a stereo from the 70s with two and a half foot tall speakers. I went to Harbor freight and bought ratcheting load bars, and had a friend help me hold the speakers to ceiling and press them to the ceiling with the load bars. Then whenever I heard noise I would crank up the stereo to concert Hall pitch right under their floor. For even more fun I hooked it up to a light timer so that when I wasn't home the stereo would turn on and off continuously throughout the day. Good times!

Not the worst though. The apartment below mine though, the TV is always loud as ever. It's woken me up at 12 in the morning. The women down there is drinking like crazy is my guess cause I've heard her literally everyday laughing her butt off and talking extremely loud. Atonal music is also a great choice. • I live in a city of 300,000 people. The police department shuts down between 11pm and 7 am and only has patrol officers operating. We're given the option to file a noise complaint but it can only be done by e-mailing the bylaw division which also can't be reached between 11pm and 7am. Our upstairs neighbours literally stomp around on the floor above us and next to contacting building security to keep the noise down, that's all we can do, which ends up with our neighbours throwing garbage down onto our balcony, even though they aren't told it's us (which tells me they know their noise is going straight down to our unit). Don't people know that this is the kind of stuff that people get murdered or sent to the hospital over? I don't get it... Why do people STOMP (note: I'm not saying walk loudly, I'm saying STOMP) on their floor when they live above someone. That tells me they're actively trying to be noisy and the real kicker is we've never seen each other and never talked to each other but lo and behold, there they are stomping with full force on the floor.

He particularly loves his damn ping pong ball. Do you know what a ping pong ball on a hardwood floor in the room directly above you sounds like? It's a sharp tap, tap, tap, tap... after a while it feels like it's coming from inside your head. It's like The Telltale freakin' Heart. I had to ask him to stop twice. Fortunately, he has stopped bouncing the ping pong ball, but that hasn't stopped him from bouncing other, slightly less annoying balls off the floor. Why can't he find another kind of toy?

  • This is brilliant! My upstairs neighbor, literally plays with the shower for hours!!!! He turns it on then off a few seconds later. then does it again over and over and over again. Then at night he plays his music "just at the moment we go to bed"!!! and leaves it on all night long. If I go to the living room to avoid the constant boom boom boom in my room, he will go to the living room and stomp around the living room. god damn squeaky floors! I work at home and have done so for 7 years. This jerk moved in and he started spying on us in our bathroom. Dozens of complaints to the manager - he never stops. They didn't believe me. I've even called the police for the constant noise upstairs at night. They didn't do anything, because they couldn't hear it outside and I was Not willing to go to court. I just want the jerk to stop being an ass. He has drilled holes in my ceiling in my dining room in 3 places, to put a plumbers camera down the hole to spy on us. I have seen it more than 5 times. he has manipulated the light fixture - don't ask me how he did it but he did. ya know those round bulbs and they sit nicely in the bezel NORMAL. He found a way to push them forward and push his camera in my bathroom!!! I was in the shower for gods sake, Police didn't do anything because it wasn't happening "right now". oh BS Now he is spraying cologne through the HVAC system. When were trying to sleep. How the hell he got in there I have no idea. The maintenance crew says he couldn't get in there, but he did. ( I thought well being sane, maybe there's a ghost visiting, nope or my husband got up and sprayed something - nope) When I smell the cologne, I get up to find out where it's coming from..... Not the master bathroom, not from the open window, I stand right under the vent and can smell the dang cologne. I go back to bed, and he sprays it again, I feel it land on my arm! god damn it - Why is he doing this? I never did a thing to him ever. Last night I covered the vent and was able to sleep after hours of him spraying, stomping and being a complete jerk. what is he trying to do ? Poison us? My husband helped me cover the vent fully and completely and we are looking for another place to live fast! Last night were watching tv with the sliding door open, it's hot here, not hot enough for the a/c yet. I see a light on my patio!! WTF! it's moving around. It's his god damn camera. I went outside to see if I could grab it, but he heard me open the screen door. Today, while I'm working, it's quiet and comes in the room above me and bangs so hard on the wall that my pictures rattled on the wall. He did that 5 times today alone. Not counting the other days he randomly decides that he's going to bang on the wall. So the manager won't do a damn thing, maybe cuz mommy and daddy pay his rent and he can get away with anything. The stomping machine will only work for a while as we think he is crazy. Who plays with the shower on and off for 3 hours straight? not me. I have work to do. I am a professional with a degree. He has never worked since he moved in. he is home all day long - everyday. Some entitled punk who's mommy and daddy pays his rent. Trust me, I have fought back. Banging on the wall right back at ya. using a broom liberally on the ceiling. Ooops my husband put holes in the ceiling he was so pissed at them spying on me. Sorry for my rant, this has gone on way too long. I could go on and on about the torment he has caused us. Many many nights of lack of sleep and having to go to work tired.

Now, with my new neighbors who sound like they jump off the kitchen counters and as if they are turning their furniture over on the weekends, I just yell, what the F are you doing up there? I am the cranky older woman neighbor, so my next door neighbors at least had the courtesy of knocking on my door saying they were installing something in the wall and gave me a heads up. And when I said I was going on a Zoom meeting in 5 minutes, they courteously waited until the next day.

  • My mom does this on occasion as of recently. Our neighbors upstairs can be noisy but it’s mostly the 8 year old kid that makes all the noise; I remember one time he was stomping and jumping around at 4:30 in the morning! So what my mom does is that whenever the kid or the neighbors make too much noise, she gets a broom and bangs it on the ceiling so they can stop. Sometimes I wonder that if both me and her are going to be pushed to the breaking point, having to call the cops on them because we’ve been dealing with those neighbors for years.

  • What makes you think you'll have enough friction with the floor to make this work? You may get the boots to touch the ceiling but they will not make any appreciable noise. You would be better off with some sort of spring and cocking system so you turn a crank and fire them at the ceiling repeatedly. Curious how much damage you'll do to your ceiling though.

I usually play Finntroll or My Life Wth The Thrill Kill Kult when she does this. The first time, she stomped on her floor so hard my smoke detector detached and dangle from the ceiling. Lately I have been listening to Chakra healing music to calm my nerves, but it's not working and My anxiety has gotten worse.

  • I live in a pretty old two story brick building that has hardwood floors. It's divided into four apartments two down and two up. As nice as the floors look there are certain spots that just creak badly. I'm honestly the one who's always concerned that I'm disturbing the person downstairs by walking around late at night on this creaky floor. On the other hand, the rather large elderly woman who lives underneath me is quite a stomper. There were several times that I actually thought she might have fallen down and was flopping around on the floor but the heavy thuds were still moving around underneath my apartment. It's not so much that I can hear it but when I'm lying in bed I could literally feel the percussion through the floor and walls. What's always helped, especially through college, were a couple of nice air purifiers to fill the living space with white noise. It really drowns out a lot of the annoying sounds that are produced from the people we live around.

I seriously don't like them. Last week, from 7 am till 12 pm these kids were running, and stomping above my head (5 hours nonstop). How do they NOT know that someone lives below them (me)????? Oh they do, but they DON'T CARE!!!!!!!! I'm breaking my lease. They're horrible people with horrible children. :(

  • Stomping super loud when walking for no reason is a sign of low intelligence. There’s absolutely no reason to stomp at anytime unless you’re in a marching band. So many dumb people walk around so heavy footed even in single story houses. My dumb roommate can’t even walk down the tile hallway without sounding like Bigfoot.

  • My issue is the next door neighbor. I'm at the end of my rope and am desperate to move. I think your invention is highly creative but I'd rather live in peace rather than retaliation. Been there, done that. It's exhausting. • @@everevolvinggrowing4303 Encouraging words indeed! Thank you so much. It's really comforting to know you not alone. I went as far as finding a quiet spot near the rocky area of the beach about 2km away from where I stay. It's dark and very peaceful! No city lights or noise, only the sound of the sea waves smashing against the rocks. I'm now saving up to buy some outdoor sleeping gear. That's where I'm gonna be sleeping on days when I truly can't take it anymore! And when I really need my sleep. I have developed "sleep anxiety" (if there is such a thing) as a result of my inconsiderate neighbour, because I need to wait for 1:47am every night for him to stomp and bang and drop things...only when he's done I can go to sleep. The office couldn't careless about what we going through. The unfrequented sea-side or the bush is the way for me now.
