  • I've been there, i used to live under these 2 guys who lived above me in a 70s built wood floor apartment. Needless to say, it was a cracking, stomping nightmare. Since moving out of there i now live in a top floor apartment. Which makes me empathetic to my downstairs neighbor. I change my walking style (from heel step outside to fox trot inside), I wear headphones and don't play anything out of my TV or speakers most of the time. When I accidentally drop things i say out loud "sorry downstairs neighbor" under my breath 😂 I honestly don't know how people can be so inconsiderate when they know they live in semi communal living! It's common sense to me.

  • Yes I went crazy and going to sue my landlord for not removing these loud neighbors. It was constant loud music, all day dogs barking, screaming throughout my building to each other, hanging out in stairwells playing music on their phones and talking loud my our windows. And while all that was going on me and my family were being harassed by a severe narcissist. I had a nervous breakdown so bad that it affected my family severely. And 7 months ago after 18 years of sobriety my parents relapsed once and died. My non immediate family and friends don’t understand why I’m calling my landlord, these ppl and my ex murderers. They are the reason my parents are dead they stressed them so bad it lead to their deaths. I want justice so bad but I don’t know how to get it and I’m now clinically insane. I started a petition against my landlord for not removing the disturbance and restoring peace and quiet under the peace and quiet ordinance act. Finally he evicted both apts causing the torture one a few months ago the others a few weeks ago. But the damage is done I’m all messed up and my family paid the price with their lives I want justice.

Landlord and management don’t care so they need to be hit in their pockets with fines that’ll make them care.

Guy not on lease moved in. Yells talks loud, I asked him to stop their daughter from playing by our common wall. They stopped for 4 days and came back with a vengeance. I am alone here. When they hear my company come they stop. So they're doing this purposely. Waking me out of my sleep I can never take a nap in the day. I believe they're on drugs.

It looks like my loud neighbors are moving out, so to prevent any new people from coming in I’m going to sneak up there and dump liquid stink in the sinks, bathrooms, ac vents so management can’t move anyone else above me. This works about 75% of the time. People are tough until confronted. If they continue, again face to face. If it continues, consult management. Also, call police. Keep a record. If it continues, I would just find a way to move. It's not worth our mental health.

    • Wouldn’t advise face to face. You don’t confront people who act this way. This is a job for management if you care for your safety. In neighborhoods I’ve live with you’ll catch a bullet or a punch knocking on someone’s door to complain about their noise. You don’t know the mental state of your neighbors. People have gotten killed approaching their neighbors. It’s either the cops or management anonymously

      @prettybaby80@prettybaby80 Жыл бұрын
    • I have seen a lot of that, "Have you tried talking to them?" kinda BS. If they were reasonable people in the first fkn place, they wouldn't be blasting music 24/7. And they wouldn't retaliate making things worse, once they know it bothers someone, they'd apologize. If someone is blasting music 24/7, then they aren't sleeping or they're turning it on and leaving to sleep elsewhere. That is NOT a sign of a stable person. In my experience that ahole neighbor makes excuses, pretends to be sorry then turns up the music even louder after you leave or tells you to fk off. Then when you call someone who could actually do something about it, they KNOW it was you! Yeah, no thanks. Also just a side note, when you call the cops for this narcissistic behavior, the cops have to hear it/witness it or they can't do sh!t.

  • Renting was definitely an experience. * First complex was in the hood. Shots fired outside every night loud enough to make the windows ding like a snare drum. Less than a year after I moved out of there the whole place got flooded when a river overflowed. * Second complex was much better. But, maybe a year after moving in the upstairs neighbors moved out and forgot to disconnect the main water line to their washing machine that they owned, so they snapped the main line in the wall and caused my apartment to get flooded, although it wasn't bad enough to move to a new apartment after dehumidifiers dried the carpets out. * Same apartment, new neighbors: They were a Shakespearean tragedy translated into pidgin English. Loud stomping & fighting basically every day. Vacuuming & bass music at night until past 3am even on weeknights. Myself and the other tenants below talked with them about the sound and it would temporarily be reduced, and then get right back to loud. Eventually I started grabbing my 100 watt guitar amp and wailing some metal riffs whenever the noise upstairs got bad enough. Those neighbors eventually started fighting so loudly and destructively that you could tell the apartment was getting trashed from outside, messed up window blinds & front porch etc. Ultimately the mother & daughter had an epic meltdown fight where they were apparently throwing things and screaming loud enough for the rest of the complex to hear them, climaxing with the police showing up and them getting kicked out for violations of the lease.

So they have zero motivation to keep tenants happy. And just roll their eyes at complaints of quality of life issues like this and make zero attempt to actually resolve them. Also so many buildings aren’t maintained, have no sound proofing, and they take up carpets and put in hardwood flooring for aesthetics, but don’t put in any insulation between floors or walls. I’ve done everything you’ve mentioned from notifying management, keeping documentation, ignoring it, calling the police, reaching out to corporate, I even consulted with a lawyer out of desperation on ways that I could terminate the lease. I am noise sensitive and have a hearing disorder called misophonia where certain noises like repetitive tapping, make me want to hurt someone. I was told by management “no one hears it but you” and “it’s an apartment and that’s just how it is." I listen to white noise or music with earbuds. I have other ways to play white noise but only earbuds will totally stop it. People are so rude. They don’t care. I hope you can find some peace and quiet. That is the downside of apartment living, everyone will bound to make noise, especially in apartments where the walls and floors are not properly insulated. Coming from me as an upstairs neighbor, i live below an old couple who also are very sensitive to noise. Even with rugs and panels Its a nightmare for me to know that everytime I drop something on the floor, or walk to the bathroom at night that there are people downstairs waiting their chance to complain to management about me. I received a noise complaint letter recently because I made too much noise at 3PM. I was installing my unit AC. However What lily is going through is simply inexcusable as nobody needs to be blasting very loud music 24/7. These type of tenants is what I think would fit into the nuisance category.

  • I have a similar experience when it comes to rude upstairs neighbors and cold, heartless landlords. I tried to be civil, told my upstairs neighbors of the problem which made them be louder, after 3 written warnings from the landlord and the noise not stopping, I took the legal advice route against my landlord and won my case that the neighbors were too loud. The problem here is that the Arbiter cannot issue a eviction to this outcome, only the landlord. In response to my case, the landlord spit in my face and gave them a 4th warning instead of a deserved eviction. All that money and time on a legal case were all for nothing. How likely will these sociopathic neighbors listen a 4th time if they didn't listen 3 times already? So the noise continued, I gave them multiple letters and video evidence and received rude responses back in return gaslighting me telling me the noise was not loud. I asked the management was the Arbiter at my legal case wrong then? I waited months for that answer and never received it. The message was the upstairs neighbors are untouchable and they didn't care how much I was suffering from the noise. I read other neighbors suffering from loud neighbors and the reactions from management was the same: a gaslighting and cold response towards the victim and a baffling defense towards rude, loud neighbors. I read that landlords don't want to evict because it costs a lot of money. Requesting a transfer or moving out are the only answer. The bad guys won. Now I do petty things to get back at them because being civilized didn't work and expose the landlord as jerks on ratemylandlord.com.

  • Making a Better Business Bureau complaint, and making a review on Google and all other review sites is something I would definitely do during all of this, but because I see your comment with the link to part three... Honestly I'd still probably do it even if your out so that no one has to go through the hell you went through. Also I'm not sure where you are and what your laws are, but after having gone through all of this if it were me... and this was happening... I'd probably just call the cops and make a noise complaint. Regarding the manager who is emailing you the reason why no one next to them is actually complaining may be because those people are the exact same or are going to the party. These college apartments are rough... I remember going to a total party apartment my first year in college it was the only thing with availability and I had four roommates, and all of the guys were in a fraternity and it was probably very much like your experience in these videos. My second apartment was so... so... so... so... x infinity much better, not only was I on the top floor with no one above me, but it was an apartment where if you were in a Frat or a Sorority you wern't allowed to rent an apartment. It was incredible I can't tell you the sheer joy of waking up to nothing!!! Now I actively avoid apartments when I can, but most people cannot. Sometimes it's not really a persons fault... heavy steppers in wood frame apartment structures that have little to no insulation etc. However, loud thumping music and intentional noise like you are showing and describing is bullsh*t. I wish you luck and future peace!
