The Best Peanut & Nut Butter To Buy At The Store - And What To Avoid!

You asked for it, so here is my full review of all peanut and nut butter at the grocery store. Including jam and jellies, best butter for nut allergy, and more. There are so many choices of peanut and almond butter at the store now, and these brands are sneaking sugar and low quality oils in to most of them! It's shocking how many premium brands have palm oil and added sugar, and the cheaper brands are using the worst type of GMO and hydrogenated oils. Just read the ingredient list on the back of the nut butter, if it lists more than nuts and salt, put it back. You don't need the added sugar and low quality oil in your body. I hope you guys found this review useful, what aisle in the grocery store next? Mad love Bobby...Dessi...and Art! XOXO

  • *Easy solution to the oil separation:* 1. Heat the nut butter until runny. 2. Empty into a mixing bowl and mix at high speed with hand mixer until totally smooth and aerated. 3. Pour back into jar & keep refrigerated. It wont separate again as long as you keep it cold. The small bubbles will make it easier to spread than normal peanut butter and you won't be using as much so it will cut down on the carb count slightly. You're welcome.

  • You are spot on with your nutritional advice for healthier food choices! Glad you are such a popular platform to get this information out there. However, on the topic of oils, your leading caution should be to avoid/dramatically decrease Omega 6 oils and explain that is why you are indicating corn, soy, canola, cottonseed, safflower and peanut oils. All of your stated rationale for eliminating them is valid. However, the most important one is the inflammatory effect on our bodies with Omega 6 oils that the Big Agri/Pharma industry shoved at us when they falsely accused butter and meat of causing heart disease. The same is true of the refined carbs, fat is not the enemy, refined sugar and flour carbs are. Our immune system is weakened with the elevated level of Omega 6 oils due to inflammation, particularly from the over indulgence in fast foods which are drenched in refined coatings and fried in toxic oils. Hence, the increase in mood disturbances, cognitive difficulties, and all the chronic pain and diseases ending in "itis." The only oils in my house are avocado, olive, and coconut and of course Ghee. No refined sugar, rarely some coconut sugar, but mostly Monkfruit/Erythitol/Stevia.

  • My favorite peanut butter is Teddie All Natural made in Everett, Massachusetts. It is available in smooth, crunchy and organic. It contains peanuts and salt. I pre-mix it before opening the jar by placing it upside down a few day before opening. Then after a day I turn it right-side up for a day. If I have time, I'll repeat this. I must do very little mixing when I open the jar. Sometimes [if it has been in a warm place] no mixing at all. Then I store it in the refrigerator where it will not separate again.

I'm glad I went with my first mind, and now I'm siting here browsing KZhead and this video is in my recommendations. Wow. Now, I will continue my search for almond butter. I been eating alot of sunflower butter the no added sugar kind, and the yellow jar one when they didn't have it. I'm glad you confirmednpalm oil is bad. Thanks!

  • My wife and I started buying Vital Farms eggs to see if we could notice a difference. We used to buy the regular eggs from Costco before and didn’t make a big deal about it. We went a few weeks with Vital Farms, noticed small differences, went back to the cheaper eggs and WHOA, we can totally notice a difference now. They just seem so pale and not appetizing. All this to say, thanks for making these videos! We’re definitely shopping more intentionally now and reading the ingredients of the things we buy and consume. Videos I’d like to see: fish (wild caught, farm caught, etc.), coffee would be an interesting topic as well, organic vs. non-organic fruits/vegetables and deli meats!

    • Watch "Rotten" on Netflix. They talk about the fish industry. Unfortunately, we can't really know if what we get from the store is good quality or not b/c a lot of companies buy from China, and they mislabel fish, pump it with preservatives, and thaw and refreeze it in transit. Also, the shipping containers are often filthy. I'd really watching that documentary! Whole Foods does carry their own responsibly-farmed salmon though. You could give that a try!

Then just scrape it all back into the jars and they stay mostly separated until they are all used up. Sometimes I add cocoa powdered, or protein powder to one of the jars to have a special “treat” for the kids.

    • The key is going slow. Also I what's use a butter knife and not a spoon because it's easier to keep mix with being a straight object. First thing I do is leave the jar upside for a few days. On day one it's possible but very easy to spill over oil. Second I stick the knife in all the way down and lift it back up creating holes where oil can seep in. Then veeerrryyyyy slowly do I begin to fold the pb into the oil. I do this for awhile until most of the oil isn't on top but in the jar. Only then do I begin to actually mix it normally and because I folded in most of the oil beforehand it doesn't take that long. Removing it entirely from the jar sounds like more work than just being careful and taking your time.
