BIG Ice Cream Review At The Grocery Store - What To Buy And Avoid!

2019 ж. 20 Шіл.

Happy national ice cream day! I thought I would head to the grocery store ad review all of the ice creams and let you know which ones are using good ingredients, and which ones to stay away from. Ice cream is meant to be indulgent, but that does not mean brands should be putting lots of preservatives, emulsifiers, trans fat in there. Ice cream should be a handful of ingredients, that's it. But unfortunately, I discovered that is not the case, so you have to read the labels. Check out my list below, and make sure to buy ice cream with real ingredients this summer! Mad love Bobby...Dessi...and Art! XOXO
Cookbook party: www.eventbrite.com/e/flavcity...
The main things I look at with ice cream is the quality of ingredients. Ice cream is meant to be indulgent, but you need to pay attention to how much sugar is in each serving, we are talking over 4 teaspoons in most cases! Which is why I would stick to sugar free or keto varieties.
Keto ice cream brands online(make sure the flavor does not have natural flavors):
ketopint.com/
killercreamery.com/
www.mammothcreameries.com/
rebelcreamery.com/
Organic ice cream brands with real & quality ingredients:
Whole foods 365
Alden organic
Coconut bliss
Strauss organic ice cream
Three twins, Slim twin, Maxine's
Humboldt creamery
New barn almond ice cream
Trickling springs creamery(GRASS-FED)
Good conventional brands, some varieties contain natural flavor, so be sure to check:
Graeters, only vanilla
Jeni’s splendid ice cream: some varieties have natural flavors
So Delcious dairy free & sugar free. Even though it has natural flavor, it's impossible to find another DF & SF ice cream
haagen daz
So delcious dairy free, but coconut bliss is better bc no natural flavors
Cado avocado ice cream, not as much sugar as others chocolate is fantastic
Johnny pop's chocolate, some others had natural flavors

  • Preach this stuff man and expose these companies that poison us with stuff that is not required at all. You are definitely the kind of reviewer this society can benefit from, kudos!

    • Agree. Now with the age of the Internet more people are realizing just what the hell they've been feeding their families for decades. I would imagine the masses getting more ingredient savy that would put pressure on companies to change. They'll do whatever they can get away with. Now hopefully the people will not assume corporations/big government are not their guardian angels. Never were probably never will be.

  • Bryer's use to be great years ago; it had very basic ingredients: cream, sugar, ect... Trader Joe's carried it, and I loved it! After a number of years, I noticed the quality was changing, and after a few disappointments, I looked on the label and It said it was made by GoodHumor. Bryer's went totally downhill after they aquired it, then it was sold to KRAFT who totally finished it off. I'll never buy it again, and it was my favorite. Too bad.

    @kennethohmert3128@kennethohmert31283 жыл бұрын
    • Yes, Bryer's came out with that stupid marketing term, "double churned", which just meant they dropped the quality of ingredients...the first time after this, I didn't even look at the ingredients when I bought some, but I knew as soon as I had my first spoonful. I looked at the ingredients and never bought another Bryer's after that. I have only bought Hagen Daz ice cream since then...in addition to a locally made in BC, Canada organic ice cream that we eat as well.

When I was a kid we made real ice cream and used the ice from our creek, it was so good ! Also, back when I was a kid there was a ice milk so it was made with milk instead of cream.

  • Or you can make it your self: • 1200 ml coconut milk • 375 ml fat whipped cream (> 35% fat) • 60 gr. Stevia or 12 drops • 2 tsp vanilla aroma INSTRUCTIONS  From the refrigerator: Cold bowl and cold whipped cream> 35% fat. Take this bowl and mix the whipped cream until it is firm.  Then briefly stir the vanilla aroma and Stevia / Erythritol into the whipped cream.  Cold coconut milk (20 hours in the fridge) Put the coconut milk in a large bowl and mix until it is wonderfully fluffy.  Bring both bowls together and stir well for another minute.  Now you can pour the entire mixture into a large cake tin and keep it in the freezer. (or a plastic container)  Leave the ice cream in the freezer for 6 to 8 hours before eating it.  Enjoy your meal! From the Netherlands

  • My husband was so glad to hear that Haagen Daz is "Bobby Approved" hahaha! On a more serious note, thank you for talking about all these added ingredients in items like Ice Cream. I did the whole 30 to try to figure out why I got heartburn so bad, (doctors just want to give you drugs and even had a scope done that saw nothing wrong) When I tried cottage cheese again after 30 days of no heartburn, boom..heartburn. So I figured ok, I cant eat milk. BUT it wasn't milk! It was all those chemicals to make milk products smooth....once I had milk products that were just made up of milk, and eggs and other natural ingredients, no heartburn. isn't that weird?

But after 40 years in Seattle and learning that dairy MUST be organic (if not grass fed etc), ALDENS has my heart. Their vanilla ice cream is delicious, and I appreciate its got less sugar (and heavy cream) than Haagen Daz. Back when I could handle more sugar (now too olde for over doing things) I craved the ice cream sandwiches, and would usually eat two (at least) in a sitting. I was always very active, so calories for me were a plus. Hurray for Alden's (organic) Vanilla Ice cream : )

But I think they make me cough. Have you tried Bobby approved Cherry Vanilla ice cream. They finally put it on sale were you can buy One.. Yum ... But I remember hearing that noone over the age of two should have milk.. I haven't been following that .. maybe I need it for my malnourished bones? Once in awhile can't hurt. But if I had a food processor or Mini.. I could make my own frozen deserts. Which would be very satisfying... And no sugar (if I choose.. or a drop). And certainly not chemicals.. I often add bran to my ice cream to make it more digestable.. and cinnamon... Other than the occasional cherry vanilla.. Bryers is still my main go to. It's natural.. except maybe some flavoring.. And possibly caused tightness in my chest. (Not good). And cherries, especially when it's a bumper crop are outrageous... Love 🍉. My mother thought watermelon was too high in sugar. Duh... We always had cantaloupe in the house. My father ate well. And when my parents had guests Always had to. Have a pineapple.. just found out itsba Victorian custom that means Your Very Welcome here. But my Father ate alot of Canned in its own juice pineapple. He had fruit and vegetables at dinner all the time. I'm probably like your mother's age.. But my mother became very healthy conscious.. On the one hand and mean on the other. Now I have a sugar additcton that I have to break. Too many mints. Use to help with digestion but became a habit. I'm also eating too much icecream ..I think. • Maximize profits...all corporations hold the goal of maximizing profits over everything else...including human life. i.e. the infamous Ford decision not to recall the dangerous Ford Pinto because they determined it was more profitable to payout any potential lawsuits then to recall the defective car. All those chemicals, even if toxic, are cheaper then real non man made ingredients. Even most vitamins contain synthetic man made vitamins instead of naturally sourced ingredients.

      @gardensofthegods@gardensofthegods Жыл бұрын
    • @@gardensofthegods Strongly disagree with you... taste is subjective and some people enjoy the taste of garbage ingredients...as exemplified by the popularity of McDonalds. Breyers chocolate ice cream ALL ingredients: fresh cream, modified milk ingredients, sugar, condensed milk and/or skim milk powder, cocoa, glucose (why, if you already have sugar??), natural flavour (which is not needed if you use REAL ingredients), mono and diglyecerides, vegetable gums and natural colour (again should not be required if you have real NATURAL ingredients). Häagen-Dazs chocolate ice cream ALL ingredients: cream, sugar, concentrated skim milk, liquid egg yolk, cocoa.
