    • I'd say she is successful, It's impossible to say what is and isn't an accomplishment and what does and doesn't count as "wasting your life" because life has no inherent meaning, you give it meaning and things within it meaning. It's sad that people see anything done that doesn't immediately illicit monetary gain or "real" fame as a waste of time, not everything has to be a job, enjoy your life and let others live how they want, If you want to or enjoy staring at a tree for an hour a day then go ahead, it's not time wasted if you think it isn't.

  • I'm friends with Scuti IRL from the Tetris community. He is not some kid who locks himself inside playing video games all day with no human interaction. He's really social, very intelligent, and a really sweet kid full of life and jokes and it's so nice just talking to him. Honestly, he's such a breath of fresh air and gives me hope for the future generations. So don't listen to some random news anchor who doesn't care about the story.   • As I am an old dinosaur I have just learned something. It seems you have a real community. I too lost my father when I was thirteen and it was truly terrible. To lose a parent at any age is terrible but a boy who is working his way through puberty needs his father more than at any other time. It's wonderful that you are all there for him.     • For real. The dedication and skill it takes to break a world record for a game than has been out for 40 years. All to be talked down by some anchor that spent a couple years in journalism school, which doesn't require a ton of effort, just to coast thru her career doing a minimal effort. Pretty obvious with the minimal effort part, since Lud did more research into this kids story and journalism isn't even his main thing lol. I'd be surprised if she even did any research on this story. Seems like it was something that just got handed to her and she just read from a prompter.

  • It's not just that he got so deep he made it crash, he got so deep *and* knew how to make it crash. It technically can loop forever, but he was going for the first true kill screen, slightly missed it, and got a different true kill screen, but that still makes him the first person to do it. I know it isn't that big a difference to most people, but it wasn't like an unintentional crash, it was intentional.

    • To add onto that, the kill screen he got wasn't even guaranteed, there was about 70% chance to get the kill screen compared to the 100% chance on the kill screen that he missed. 70% chance is high, but if he didn't get the kill screen that time, I don't how much longer he needs to play.

The previous "kill screen" was just at a level where it was previously thought impossible to play past just because the pieces fall too fast for most players until players started using more complicated button tapping techniques. It takes a lot of skill to even get past that screen, which if I recall correctly is less than half of the levels than this record reached.
