It has actually made just stop talking in comms all together, which should never have to happen, and I can only imagine how much worse it is for women. The even crazier thing is that I used to coach players in some game, and sometimes they would discount my idea for no reason, but when they would find out I was dude, they were suddenly more willing to at least try my ideas. Like, what sort of mental gymnastics do you have to do to think this way, to the point where your perception of what gender I am would change how you view what is just factual information.

It was a simple, "Hey man, you wouldn't be saying any of that if she wasn't a woman. Cool off" and then he messaged me privately saying he was sorry I had to deal with that. I also believe a lot of people have formed their opinion from the start, youtube videos are the perfect catalyst for radicalization as if you go into the comments of the video it will (as long as its a somewhat sensible take) be filled with people who agree, so when someone responds to this you take the video with scrutinizing eyes, this is increased by the simple fact that lud hasnt responded back.

This is concerning because other voices sharing these toxic outlooks tend to flock together to disparage anyone who calls them out, employing various rhetorical tricks meant to elicit frustration, apathy, or simple anger, rather than reflecting on their own actions and the fact that they are not behaving within the tenets of a modern, cooperative society" Is that better?

    • @@Daveeeeeeyhowyoudoing This study that you mention is done purely on an individual basis rather than gender basis. Women in fact can handle stress and deal with stress way better than men and is highly unlikely to get mental illnesses in passing. But from what I assume, what you're trying to say is, women tends to be rather emotional in certain situations than men, which hinders objective pov and logical thinking process sometimes. That, I can agree with. Such emotional thinking is what differs men and women thought process in some scenarios. And it also factors in to why women can deal with stress better, which in turn makes them less prone to illnesses and adds to having generally a long life span than men. Though again yes, it is but only one of factors that helps the final outcome. So the base line is, I do agree to a certain point that there are fields that requires highly logical thinking or high muscle strength, which may have a male dominance. And if there's suddenly a female colleague introduced to you in such an environment, it's only natural to show a certain level of concern towards them as opposed to male colleagues. Because it's a generic human trait to either be curious about or outright reject something that is introduced anew. (On a final note, I'm clarifying again that I "never" said anything about women being "unable" to handle a logical process. All that I'm saying is women "tends" to be more emotional than men due to their hormonal process in certain situations)

And if you google 'work hours men vs women mental health' you discover that women begin to develop negative mental traits if they consistently work more than 39 hours a week, while men is 47. These types of dudes will accept challenges from anyone because they know they're good at the game and won't have their ego wounded by any number of losses, regardless of who beat them. Guys who play at a lower skill level are also more insecure, more prone to be the agressor in harassment, and feel like they have "more to lose" when it comes to their ego, so they make up for their difference in skill by being hyper-salty and harass anyone. Women who are in an ingame VC or happen to stand out from the other players in some way are easy targets for these guys. TL:DR; If you're harassing people online, you literally have a skill issue. • ps. The pink girl blue boy thing is an Asian concept based on the the principles of yin and yang. A female child is innately more yin, so to balance this she is dressed in a softened version of the yang (masculine principle) colour red. Conversely, a boy is more yang and for balance he is dressed in the yin (feminine principle) colour blue. This dresscode was adopted, without understanding, outside Asia so that the 'gender' of each colour has been incorrectly assigned.

Granted, I’d then get homophobic comments, but it was better than being called a woman to me. But before I came out, dude it was rough. Like they could be dead and u just wiped the other team by urself and they’ll still say ur terrible and u should kys and go back to the kitchen ect… like women even get rape threats thrown at them when they’re winning just because they’re women. It’s so fucking toxic it pisses me off. Literally now, if I go on vc, it’s all super friendly with the occasional rag for being a dumbass. Or people who get unreasonably heated in unranked casual play (like I’ve gotten fill spots and been in for a minute with 30sec spent getting to the team from spawn, and someone will say I’m the reason we’re losing cause I haven’t done enough damage and I should have as much damage as him, who’s been there since the game started. Like bro chill, it’s casual play, not ranked. This isn’t affecting anything). I’ve been in games with women in vc and been called a white knight for telling some little bitch to shut his cracked mouth up for making rape threats and saying some really unsettling shit. And when I tell them I’m literally gay and don’t give a fuck about this woman, they say some wildly homophobic shit. Like it’s disgusting.

From it's 4 million max membership, they have around 760,000 in 2020, aka they have about 20% their max amount of participants they built infrastructure for. They need females because they need participants money and the grants they can receive, not because they desire diversity or change. The girl scouts in contrast dropped from a peak of around 2.8 million, to around 1million, aka 36%. So while it isn't good for them, and while facing some legal issues, they are not currently bankrupt. Therefore they do not need boys. This was never about gender inclusivity for the scouts, it was money.

My friend group is completely willing to call each other dogshit, because we’re friends and we know no one really means it. We know that we’re not actually holding grudges or anything. That doesn’t apply to 5 randoms in a lobby. I swear almost anyone with any level or amount of social interaction is aware of this.

A notable example is actually Marlboro cigarettes! Weird to think about with the "Marlboro Man" being such a figure, but it happened because of "gender contamination." The "women don't play these sports/video games" argument fails to consider how society has implicitly excluded half the population from being raised with these activities in the first place.

It was full of toxic masculinity, where i was bullied relentlessly by all the athletic kids, made fun of because I didn't wanna play manhunt in the forest at night. One of the boys assaulted me while i slept and i somehow got in trouble for fighting him off me, and that same kid burned me in the face with metal water bottle he heated over the fire (i was promptly told "oh you'll be fine, it's just a small burn. Which is flipping wasn't). Let's not forget the rampant sexual assault cases as previously mentioned. And fun fact for all y'all, my scout master was outed as a pedophile after r*ping his niece, and who's to say he didn't do so to any of the boys (he has been sent to prison, thank goodness). Feels like it’s a fragile masculinity thing. I mean there’s even the meme of wanting a “gamer gf” - and then there’s also the “acting differently” (harrassing or acting like they want to get in their pants) because of their gender - at that point, are you even here for the game??

    • See I just don’t care. I think we should just let people do what they want. I’ve always been an advocate against the “women in gaming” or “women in engineering” or whatever because it’s just another way of telling women what they should do. Same with men in nursing or whatever. People should just do what they want and no one should be telling them this is a man’s thing or a women’s thing. If more men play games, so what? As long as there isn’t anything forcing women away, then who cares? The only two problems are the prevelence of designs catering to men (sexualized women, especially in Chinese games like LoL and Genshin Impact) and stupid toxicity from men. Hell, it’s mostly toxicity from men because Genshin is actually really popular with women compared to most games (45% women userbase)

      @demospolsion6539@demospolsion6539 Жыл бұрын
    • @@demospolsion6539 You're misinterpreting the "women in gaming/engineering" bits. the point isn't to tell women "you need to go do those things", it's just to inform everyone that participates in those fields that "its perfectly ok if someone of the opposite sex is your co-worker/teammate, dont freak out or be weird thx". its to simply to normalize something that has been normally rejected culturally for obselete reasons. plus if a woman has an interest in these things but comes from a culture that doesn't look favorably at women in tech for example, these types of campaigns can encourage that woman to pursue something she enjoys in spite of that. its simply "you have this option as well, its ok to pick this if you like it".

  • Straight up, this is why I've always been too scared to play competitive games. I can't handle the back-seating and being talked down to. Shooters already make me anxious because I've never practiced with them, and then having to deal with getting abuse thrown at me the entire time is too much. And then if they aren't being mean they're aggressively hitting on you. No thanks. *edit* This got more attention than I expected so let me address some things here so that it doesn’t get lost in the replies. The toxic shit that happens regardless of your gender is something that we shouldn’t tolerate as a community. However, if you’re here to leave a comment about how women are just being babies and everyone gets bullied, you’ve missed the point of both my original comment AND the video.

I deal with them as a guy (maybe not the hitting on me part but hey who likes being found attractive anyways amirite?), but the satisfaction of getting better outweighs the struggle of getting better. If you don't enjoy the game itself that much then you are making a pretty normal decision to avoid it and avoid the negatives with it

  • As a man who worked in education, there was pretty high demand for more, particularly in early childhood education because there’s value in having strong male role models. There are a lot of kids whose fathers are harmful or mean, and having those positive role models to ensure that kids aren’t growing up assuming that that’s all a man can be is valuable. The problem is that men usually aren’t encouraged to take those jobs, particularly in support positions like educational assistants. It also doesn’t help that they tend to pay pretty poorly.
