Renault Kadjar SUV 2018 review | carwow Reviews
This is the Renault Kadjar. The smart-looking crossover competes gets a choice of petrol and diesel engines, strong safety ratings and generous equipment levels. But when it competes in such a touch family car class, is that enough? I find out in my full, in-depth review.

We need an updated review for the renault kadjar facelift
0:06 that whistle was bloody brilliant. I couldnt whistle half as good as that
matt gives good reviews, my only gripe is when he goes on about headroom,I don't know anybody who actually sits up straight like a statue,
I have been sleeping in this car when I am travelling around Scotland and Europe for over two years, never fails me" nice to drive, the fuel consumption is great. I had a roof box for more space to keep stuff. You can sleep easily, got a nice double inflatable matress at gooutdoors and all done. Happy with my Kadjar 2019. I will probably change it for the Austral in two years time, I am not in a rush, this car is great!
I have the car for 13 months and it is problem free ever since :) As Mat said, it is a really practical family SUV, fuel consumption is really low (1.5 Diesel 5.1lt/100km city, 4.7lt/100km average), no engine noise at cruise but a bit much tyre noise. Overall it is a very good choice.
Would you recomend it as a good first car i like big stocky cars if you get what i mean im starting driving lessons next year and this car is top of my list for when i pass my test
Hi, do you steel recommend it ? Any noises inside?
I test drove a Kadjar yesterday, the car is a beast. Will be getting it soon
Can you do A review of Renault Talisman or grand coupe? Would be so much appreciated! Thank you and good job
Why is there a subwoofer instead of the spare wheel? So you can sing and dance if you have a flat tyre?
😂😂😂
You have to pay an extra £250 for the spare wheel if you go on the website.
True, but you'll use the stereo on perhaps every journey and the spare.... Possibly never
😂
I wouldn't worry about the flat tyre; it's a Renault, it will have broken down long before you get a flat tyre
Mine (TCe 130hp Intense) will be 5 years in June. Never had a mechanical issue but the infotainment system gets stuck every 10 to 12 months. Symptoms: satnav map freezes or the rear camera image breaks down. Only a reset to factory settings cures it. After 2 years there are no longer map or software updates/upgrades. I suspect the memory fills up with logs or satnav trip calculations/addresses. The clutch feels a little cheap and overwhelmed by the engine torque. It feels like it will give any moment since the day I got the car but it's still going. For the rest it is a real joy to drive and has plenty of space. Oh, and the ground clearance is great so no worries taking speed bumps. Oh, and don't bother putting it in 'Eco' mode because it is nothing more than a fuel rate limiter (at 10l/100km instantaneous rate). It takes much longer to reach cruise speed and so _average_ fuel consumption is much higher than in non-Eco mode.
@carwow when is mat doing a review on the new Renault Clio and capture there both really good cars.
4:52:"the automatic is better if you want an auto". thank you carwow, i had no idea
cyka blyat no he was saying that the auto is better than the manual which is rubbery. So if you are after an auto you are in luck as the manual is shit
There will always be an idiot who will not get what has been said.
Does the auto have problems
Had one of these as a hire car in Iceland for 4 days, very comfortable and a great drive, returned over 60mpg - but the touch screen satnav was a pain at times and needs far too many clicks to use. - but i'd still have one - did 500 miles in 4 days, i'm 6'4 and it was very comfortable
6:27 *And the ting goes skrrra*
Exactly what I was going to say hahaha!!!
?
marmal320 google my comment and you will know
Black Hole 9
LOL
ive just got the new 1.4 petrol Dynamique Nav & in my opinion it sells itself & im extremely happy with it & its a pleasure to drive
Ah ok he mentioned the 1.2 I think 1.4 be better all rounder for motorway ..j don't want a screamer on motorway of I go petrol again and dies the 1.4 have 6 speed ? Thanks
Mat, please to a review for the new Dacia Duster Prestige model... Thank you !!!
The Renault Kadjar looks more like an elongated Captur...
Which looks like elongated Clio...
CMDR Evilijo true....
Which Looks like an elongated Twingo
Michael Kennedy and then their is the Dacia sandero... Which is a cool budget car!!!😂😂😂. Which is influenced by the Indian Renault KWID!!!!
s DC7 I don't quite understand the logic behind Renault's name. They have an crossover named: Captur and another one named Kaptur and now Kadjar? Is Renault trying to confuse people
Great review.
What I dislike about this car (or any Renault for that matter) is how many small items work differently from all others cars, making it unnatural to move it. Like, the stick under the bonnet was mentioned in the video, but think also about stuff like the sun visor for which the spare out to take it down is on the left side, or the windscreen wipers which have to be moved down to operate instead of up.
when you review the Arkana then potentially do an 'Arkana vs X4' review etc?
Matt, please do a Mazda CX-5 review. Been waiting for it for ages now..
He said in one of his videos (I guess the one where he went to Geneva autoshow) that Mazda doesn't like him (that was the way he described the situation) and that's why he never reviewed a Mazda before !
I would have this over the Qashqui any day of the week!. Much more funky.
Been having this car since the start of the year and the fuel consumption is mad. Can get between 4.9-5.5l/100km. But the only thing I hate about this car is that it drags the lower gears abit. Other than that, it’s really nice to drive.
Is it reliable?
@@waleed172 Yes, mine will reach 5 years in June and only had to bring in the car for regular maintenance.
@gbormann71 impressive I been put off diesel after my 2 year of hell. Just think I got unlucky tbh . Had dieseks 10+ years now
Renault Clío mega sized? Lol By the way I really love that place where you guys film your videos, all that vegetation I really like it..
Really?
@@ralucaspataru7618 He must not get out much
You are fany guy, I like your style, I like how you report the details about the car...keep up the good work and success in the future. Salute from Romania
Hiii, cld u pls put on the all new ecosport st line????
Could you review the Koleos please Mat
The car gets 49MPG (over 1.5 years of mixed road driving and no towing), no squeaks or rattles to note, boot space is excellent. There isn’t as much tire roar as is made out, and theres only a little bit of wind whistle around the a-pillars
I agree just got one for abit
Which model you got may I ask ?
@@kevinhancock4064 well it was sold about 3 years ago but it was a 1.5 DCI dynamique nav
@@danecowan678 ah I got you 130bhp? 4 cylinder. Was ok no issues ?
@@kevinhancock4064 It was my dad’s company car. 1.5 litre 4 cylinder turbo diesel, 109bhp but the torque made it feel quicker. Had it 3 years from new and didn’t really have any issues. Ended up needing a clutch kit right before we got rid of it but as it was a company vehicle it was paid for. That 1.5 diesel engine is used in all sorts, nissans, renaults, mercedes and so on. They can be very reliable or very unreliable, luck of the draw really. Just make sure it has good service history and (if the 1.5diesel) it has had its cam belt done. That is what’s missing from these new car reviews, servicing information and so on. Anyway, our car was handed back after 3 years and 60,000 miles and was advertised on a used car forecourt shortly after so it must have had plenty of life left in it
I have a Renault Kadjar 2018 and its good for ice drifting
Mat, the reason you can slide the suitcases so easily is because your carwow suitcases are empty. Try a 23 kg airplane standard one and it wouldn't e so easy.
Share the costs? Sales of the two models differ drastically however.
we dont have the Kadjar here in Malaysia , please Matt do the Renault Koleos review
Will you be reviewing the skoda Karoq soon ?
Can you please do review on Renault captur please?
Will carwow cover the new CLS?
It is what it is; a family car for people who are indifferent to cars. My gripe with it, and the CashCow is that the Renault diesels are filthy engines, in a recent independent test it pushed out NOx emissions in real world driving some 600% above the permitted level for Euro5.
Is it suv or mpv ? Mpv as in multi purpose vehicle like honda has brv
Can you please do a review for the Renault koleos
LOVE the exterior. Interior is a bit bland.. Saw an new koleos last day, That’s even nicer than this!
Hie this is Hemang. I am your fan from India 🇮🇳. I really like your videos. They are highly interesting. I am watching your videos since than when you were at some other channels also. But Car wow is simply wow. I have one request. Would you do a review of Vauxhall Mokka X Suv 🚙? I saw on some other channel. I liked Car but not review. So would you do pls. It doesn’t matter since I know these cars won’t come to India 😅but still. For pure fan love 💕?
I hope you can turn it off automatically locking thing. If I as a driver leave the car with the key in the pocket and passengers are left in the car, they can not open the door because it is locked.
Got 1.2l petrol Kadjar. The combined fuel efficiency is 8.2l/100km.
Hi I'm from Kenya and I would like if you did the Renault koleos
what can you do with tetheringspots?
3:48 oneplus 3t?
finally!
Please do qashqai vs Kadjar 2018 vs 3008
It looks quite nice.
i hate it
@@Jaxo_R there's nothing to hate...
I might buy it when i pass my driving test idc how big it is i love big cars my dad has a bmw x5 witch im learning in 👌 i just like to be high up in a car
Finally a car I can finally fit in
Please review the new Renault Koleos
Wish I knew you have to change the whole light case when the led goes
Prob the same on most cars tbh
You're the best.
had the qashiqai, shit loads of rattle and small problems for the first year, then i sold it. the depreciation is massive.
Make a test of the new Duster 2018 !!!
"shortlist" recommended after quite a some time if i am not wrong.
Practicality would be instead of putting bags in the boot. What about trying if wheelchairs would fit. After all most new cars our sold by mobility. And most car owner go for the used models.
We need a video on the new ford kuga
Kajar v Peugeot 3008 comparo s'il vous plait. Help me decide which Francais. Peugeot has more bling inside from memory than the more restrained Kajar.
I've noticed that Mat is not quite himself in the past few videos. Almost like he can't be bothered!
Michael Tang noticed that also 🤔
He wants to drive some fast cars probably!
They shoot many videos in a single day, he could have just had a bad day.
Maybe it has Renault indigestion ..it seems he looks like :)
Probably sick of reviewing pointless crossovers designed by hipsters.
Cad-jar. Briliant!
vauxhall grandland x review please
he just said the new Duster aha a nasty cabin because it is all black, yet this is 'alright you know' and it is also black.
the face is a nissan. thought it would be like the facia of megane or koleos
Not a bad car but the new Peugeot 3008 has completely eclipse it like all the other competitors of the segment :) In addition he is not in adequacy with the new stylistic code of the mark as the news Megane and Talisman.
and the Koleos too.
But in terms of motors this is 100 times better, 4 cilinders against 3. This car is much more reable than those 3 cilinder that will start shaking at 80.000 km
I guess the kadjar is cheaper because its still a new car..whereas the nissan has built a name for their suv since it is a top selling one.
Will u do the arkana
How is it a 2018 model with a 66 plate...
Beautyful car !!!
He looked like Richard Hammond in that low res screen xD
im in the US and this thing looks WAY BETTER than the washed up nissans we get
Mat can you please make a Lexus NX review
This car is inspired by Renault F1
Bought the automatic car as a km0 in 2020 , after 4 years no problem
do the dacia duster 2nd gen
I do not see the point in recommending diesels any more with this ban that's being imposed lately. Unless you want people to end up with a pile of metal they can't get rid of in 3 years.
"oh no, it's all a bit wet" LMAO
Review for duster 2😉
New CR-V review please?
For my 2017 Kadjar is some not good things like the headlights H7 for me in Sweden my old SAAB H7 2005 much more better in the dark next is the interior light its like missing some lights. It should be possible to put off the hillholder my 1,2 130ps is to weak for this function. and here you need to put 1000 euro for rustprotection because its like a Nissan.
7:20 You know, he does look at least about 8 years younger
Have you ever said to avoid a car you reviewed?
StreetFerrari Yes, Ford Mondeo Vignale :)
Yes to Hyundai kona
Do the koleos next
And it's off road capability?
My mom have the 2019 model...no Buttons in the screen🤙
Where’s the Renault Koleos Review?
With regard to the backseats, I couldn't sit behind myself (1.93 m) and the tire roll was indeed very pronounced!
3:50 CAD Jar, Get it?
Renault launched this car as captur in india
it's a jar... made in CAD... brilliant...
I am Canadian who is considering moving to the UK. Which is more reliable, Renault or Peugeot? Cheers,
Same car almost same parts
Renault 100%
I would also consider the Nissan Qashqai, cause it has better materials on higher trims, and also the 1.6T petrol engine, which for power, is adequate for the size of the qashqai. And just as a suggestion for future car reviews, try testing the 2018 Subaru xv crosstrek, it should be already arrived in UK. A bit expensive, but better materials and AWD system than last year. And a bit exotic car here in Europe. I didn't see many of them.
@carwow .... Can u do a in depth comparison b/w Renault Kedjar and Renault Megane ?
the only thing i don't want to happen is renault build their version of Nissan GTR.
It's a nice car and I thought that carwow should do pick up truck reviews as the new Renault Alaskan is being released and also the Mercedes x class has been released and I think it would bring a lot more views and even more interest to carwow
I don't understand. It's a 66 plate car in a 2018 model review ? Has this been recycled from somewhere or left on a memory stick for a year?
At Simon Clark. Haha, I also wondered by the number plate was from last year
I guess in Ford Mondeo no any squizing plastic....
In India its name is renult capture 😎
How tall are you, mister?
"hatchback" ?! ...is there a saloon version of it or something? wtf
In India this model is called CAPTUR and the BOSE edition will be released shortly. Subscribed from Bengaluru, love your reviews. 1 suggestion thou, people buy cars considering their running cost, service costs too. So do a Authorised Service centres review too.
Captur is a different model entirely
Isn't this the Captur?
