This is the new Citroen C5 Aircross! Even though the exterior styling may help it stand out, there’s no denying it’s just yet another entry into the crowded SUV market. It comes in relatively cheap, but barring the exterior, how does the C5 Aircross stack up against the competition? Join Mat for his latest in-depth review to find out!

  • I am basically no SUV person, and no french car fanatic, but I have to say that the french manufactures stepped their game. Almost each model from PSA and Renault looks amazing and with the right equipment pretty posh. The are also very good equipped. I never though that I will say this, but I really would consider a buying a car from PSA or Renault. In my opinion really great job. More car for the money than at the most of the german manufacturers.

It takes a while to get used to it like anything new but now I feel soo chilled driving it and it's not as BIG as I feared initially and is very easy to place on the road and to park etc. It really is up to Citroen's standard, well done and am a very pleased customer.

    • I am greatly interested in that car, primarily because of comfort suspension. I am driving Nissan Qashqai now an I am sick of jumpy and unsettled ride over patchy and wavy roads. What is your experience? Does your body moves too much or still stands calm on uneven roads.

    • @@vjexxx I have 2 inguinal hernias from lifting snooker table slates that are inoperable because I have blood clots in my legs and lungs I also cannot feel my legs because of diabetic nerve damage and Ive just driven 100 miles to buy a 30k 2019 used 1.5 diesel 8 speed Auto and the ride is very good I did a 2 hour journey on the motorways M11 and M25 and some of it on the A14 and it caused me no real pain compared to my old 2018 Dacia duster diesel and people say they have a soft ride, I needed a cushion cos the seats were so hard , the cushion is now officially abandoned in the C5 Aircross, its seats are like arm chairs at home its a very comfortable car. Im having it adapted for hand controls. Oh and it sips fuel very frugally the PSA 1.5 diesel turbo costs less to run than the Renault and Nissan 1.5 Turbo diesel engine does, even with an 8 speed auto box with a proper Torque Converter, if you change the gear fluid every 50k the auto will last forever The Renault and Nissan Boxes are a Dry dual clutch electronically operated manual box and the dual clutches wear out which can be expensive in the long run. imagine the cost of paying for replacing 2 clutches and you'll be on the right page. I researched all this while looking at automatics to buy and Im glad I got the Citroen with a proper torque converter gearbox it is smooth and pretty seamless in its gear changes to. Citroen brakes are still quite fierce so remember to just rest your foot on the brake pedal. you dont need much effort to stop the car.

It has good proportions and a very good stance - personally, I like the space grey, white orange combination but it might not be to everyone's liking and the Interior is certainly not boring and has its own modern style. Big boot and 3 back seats, flat floor. Not a car for me but I can certainly understand why a family would choose this. Great work Citroen. And as always a great consistent review, thanks ;D

  • Just taken delivery of C5 Aircross 180 Flair Plus, automatic. I wanted this car as soon as I saw it when it first came out and it’s even better than I had hoped. After seeing so many reviews which, while praising the ride comfort, criticised the cornering, I’m glad that I didn’t take too much notice of them. With my son testing it with me on some twisting roads here in Wales, even as a passenger I couldn’t detect the infamous body roll as described by Matt and others. Obviously, fast cornering will result in passengers moving due to centrifugal forces, but that’s the same in any car! Even the infotainment unit is entirely intuitive and quickly becomes second nature. I have no regrets in opting for this wonderful car - I can’t think of any other car that’s so comfortable and relaxing to drive.

  • This SUV program from PSA is a real success with the Peugeot 3008, Citroen C5 Aircross and Opel Grandland. The 3 cars have their own personality for the exterior, interior and even driving while they are built on the same platform. When you compare with the VW group and his lazy work with his Tiguan, Ateca and Karoq who are clones without personality it's shocking I hope that PSA will continue the good work of differentiation on these next cars.

    • @A real bisexual petrol-head Saying that cars from one specific country are awful because they come from that one specific country is stupid. You're not a petrolhead. A petrolhead knows wich cars are good, wich are not, but do not say things that stupid. Plus, I am sure you never even drove a French car. If yes, you would know that old French cars (Citröen 2CV, DS21, Renault 4L, Peugeot 205) are brilliant and fun to drive, but cars from late '90s- 2010s are pieces of shit for most of all (exemple : the boring, non-reliable first-gen 3008. Renault made some good RSs models thought). Nowadays, Peugeot and Citröen are making really good cars for the money (new 208 Audi-like quality for cheaper than a Polo...thanks to the small yet reliable engine). Still, Renault is disapointing with their "new" Clio & Twingo that looks exactly the same as the previous gen. Even the "GTi" Mégane RS is not a true GTi (~1400+ kg !! A GTi must be light, under 1000 kg !). Exeption for the new Alpine, thought. Cute car. So that's what I want you to understand : French cars used to be really cool (~1900-1990), then absolute pieces of shit (1995-2010), but now they are getting better and better (late 2010-forever?). Cheers, -A Peugeot 205 owner

Interior of Peugeot 508 beats all American cars hands down, and it is not a very expensive car. • those heater controls are manual by the way they didnt explore the piano black light up buttons beneath the screen, in fact this review falls short on a lot of details about the car, I own one and the screen is fast and responsive I recon they have bad sat naff reception where they are or a faulty screen on the base model, if start stop has been switched on all the time the battery will also be low to slowing the screen response down to. Cars with the stop start system if used all the time need the battery charging with an electronic LFP battery charger at least twice a year, alternatively switch off start stop when you start the engine every time.

  • I really love where Citroen / PSA is heading! They seem to be one of the few car makers that know how to make comfortable, cool and right priced cars nowadays. They have become my favorite car make over the last decade. Before that I loved German cars, but now they really lag in quality, design and are terrible priced for what you get.

    • @@z00h Yep, but French dont cares because they make the best cars in Europe now. On the top 15 of best European cars, 7 cars is French, 4 is german, 0 is italian. Matt hate French cars like a lot of British or Italizn who hate everything who is better from French because they are jealous. We know it in France than british dont like French cars because French is always better than british, French have bought a lot of car brands when British have lost 90% of his car brands because they was unpopular and too expensive for british. Now British dont have british cars ( only morgan and aston martin, who selling only 20.000cars/year when French selling 9.000.000cars/year ). Its the same for Italians, they hate French cars because they are more reliable, have better quality and French know how make innovation and technology on his cars when Italian is the only country who dont know how make a virtual cockpit, autonom system, radar-lights or focal audio. Italian know than French destroy the italian car industry. Italian can't selling cars outddor Italy because they dont have technology and reliabilty, for exemple, Lancia selling 99.9% of his cars in italy, Alfa selling 85% in italy when Peugeot is the best export cars in Europe Peugeot selling only 36% in France, Renault 41% in France, Citroën 50%, in France, Dacia 39% in France ( I dont have opel, DS numbers ).
