This is the new Citroen C5 X!
The new C5 X is a mix of a few different cars. It comes with a ride height similar to an SUV, a big estate-sized boot, along with the interior room & comfort of a saloon! So is it the right car for you? Let’s take a look!
It’s got a pretty stylish exterior design, with Citroen’s traditional upside-down headlight style along with a smart chrome strip across the front. Around the back, it’s got some stylish wrap-around taillights coupled with a boot lip spoiler. We’re not a big fan of the plastic bumper though.
Thankfully, there’s little to complain about on the inside. There are high-quality materials throughout, along with a big infotainment screen, digital dials and a whole lot of storage. The seats are also super comfortable, too!
There’s a choice of petrol engines available, with the range-topper being a plug-in hybrid which combined an electric motor with a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine to deliver 225hp. All models come with an automatic gearbox along with FWD.
The price starts from just under £28,000, but is it worth it? You’ll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself!

I'm 45 and I've driven German, Japanese even Italian cars. Never did I think I would end up liking French cars, it was only after I had to get a Peugeot for work that I found that they are actually quite comfortable. The suspension and steering is softer and lighter than other makes. Well done french engineers 👍
Peugeot suspension and ride is less comfy than Citroën’s. Try a Cit if you get a chance and you’ll see the difference 😃
It is very refreshing to see another big french car like this. They were so good at making big comfortable cars and it was sad to see them go. I'm really liking the look of this and hopefully plenty of people buy it over SUVs or crossovers.

Live in the US nowadays and would love me a Citroen C5 X. The main selling point being that the roads are so terrible and Citroen will make potholes all but disappear. Owned an old CX back in 85 and loved it.
I drove it on horrible French country roads and the car went over potholes very smoothly. At higher speeds on the highway it's so relaxing you better stay awake and keep an eye on the road. Truly an impressive machine. I love that Citroën builds comfortable cars with genius suspensions again.

Can look up a car and driver or motortrend review of a vehicle with them, it's drastic, not subtle like honda/acura or nissan's adaptive systems. Audi has a per wheel 48 volt electric air system that's insane, but that's super expensive and bespoke
One thing you've (almost) always missing in these videos is the daytime light designs!!! They are so prominent on every car nowadays and effect the car's looks overall very much. You should always review them too

Love it, not enough focus on sheer comfort nowadays, our old Freelander takes speed bumps better than any modern SUV. Love the physical climate control too, purely screen based ones are a dropped bollock for sure.
Not sure what you're talking about, most cars today approach the driving aspect from a comfort angle instead of a sporty one. You only got Ford, BMW and somewhat Mazda whose regular cars offer a sporty edge. Obviously I'm not including pure sports car manufacturers like Porsche or Lambo here since they're not exactly accessible to the average guy. Sheer comfort ala Mercedes S-class is expensive, that's why you don't see it in the mainstream segment.

A drive in a modern fleet spec Audi A4 s line 2.0tdi is a lesson in back ache but it's an expensive car, the fiesta much praised for its handling is actually quite a harsh riding cheaply built little thing that an old mk3 golf couldn't out perform but certainly is nicer to drive for a few hours
@@VDPEFi every old car dealt with bumps well because they all handled like absolute dogshit, I think you forgot that part. They rolled in corners something fierce and some of them could even roll over if you tried hard enough. Somewhere in the late 90s we managed to strike a balance between comfort and handling because of safety reasons. I don't know how you can call a base spec A4 a lesson in back ache, all A4s I drove so far seemed like boats to me, main reason why I avoid most VAG products. If you were referring to the seats however, that depends on each person. I personally haven't had issues.
A lot of older cars handled bumps better because the tyres also had bigger sidewalls in proportion to the wheel size.

Looks a really good car! Citroen seem to have gone back to their roots and are cranking out some great cars currently.
In 1978 I was custodian of a new CX 2400 EFI Prestige and a RR SSII. The Prestige was superior for both drivers & passengers plus reliability until the CX series I rust set in 5 years down the track. Fixed with Series II CX. The Roller had that elusive WAFT factor, and could be quite sprightly and surprising nimble when punted quickly. 4 Prestiges for 1 RR... The C5 X seems to have recaptured Citroen style and comfort...
At least C5 X is better than Impreza WRX STi 2007. That car is like a wagon.

In the past, with Citroën's hydraupneumatic suspension, if you wanted to change the stiffness of your suspension, you could replace the hydraulic spheres with different ones that had different characteristics which resulted in an entirely different suspension feel. Additionally, with newer models, the suspension stiffens up more depending on your driving. If you drive a bit "wilder" the suspension's default will be more stiff than the factory default and this is saved across driving sessions.
Does this car have hydropneumatic suspension? I didn't hear him mention the word in this review, but I know Citroen is known for it, and I already like this car enough that if I ever find myself living in Europe in the future I will be trying to find one of these as a daily driver, but having that suspension would just be icing on the cake as we don't get anything at all with it over here in the US.

Yep.
Previous Citroens have an above view monitor. Not quite the same thing. A 360° camera has 4 cameras, where as the above view only has 1 on the rear. You initially get just a rear view but as you move it takes photos and the computer sort of stitches the image together giving a 360° view, sort of. Only the rear part of that image is live though.

Thanks for the review. I have an old 11 years C5 Mark2 diesel and it’s reliable, comfortable and responsive. Maybe I’ll give this one a try.
To clear the rear screen of rain turn on the rear screen heater, it works as I do it with my old Kia pain in the Rio
Since diesels (which would this type of car) are out of favour, economy is sought by a 1.2 Litre 130 PS petrol. A decent enough engine is a smaller car maybe.
I think it has 300bhp. Similar to Celica GT4 WRC ST205.
It's a good engine, yeah. I have the detuned 100hp version of it in my Corsa. Fairly decent on fuel, averaging around 6L/100km, and reasonably punchy. + it's really quiet as well. I like it quite a lot
I love that stellantis is giving citroen a fair chance.
Yep. Tons of good chance actually.
That interior looks great! Shame about the small fueltank
6:57 omg since I was a kid I did that oh that childhood!
Mat, you should try a DS4 !
Or GT By Citroen Road Car.
Love the design and overall practicality of this car. wish I could buy one.
It's a cheap car, buy one then
@@lukeecle117 Too expensive for a middle income person like me from India.
@@Otosama420 ok
@@Otosama420Do you know the Citroën C5 is totally manufactured in China
@@lukeecle117 Yea and the Eiffel Tower is located in Paris, what's your point exactly?
What a review! Now do the DS4 please Mat :)
7:48 is the most "Alan Partridge" Matt has ever been...
Mat can you drag race a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport against a Rimac Nevera with Yianni?
You’ve made 3 comments this video. Chill out
I'm sure he would if you can provide the cars!
Could it be that the 0-60 is faster, because Citroën measures 0-100 km/h, and 60 mph is only 96 km/h which it'll reach faster? I feel like you normally use 62 mph, but it's still weird that we have 2 different measurements for something that should be similar.
KMN, i bet this car has the same bhp as Celica GT4 ST205 WRC.
Whats the brand of Matt´s t-shirt called? I´ve been trying to find it for ages!
You are correct Citroën did license hydro active suspension to Rolls Royce and Bentley. I have a C5 x7 Exclusive hydro active 3 plus. I will have to book a test drive to see how it compares to my V6 saloon?
