  • You really got the feeling from Andrew's portrayal that his Peter Parker had relived that fall in his head over and over again thinking about how if he'd done this or that differently he could have saved Gwen. His dive is perfect form, he pushes objects out of the way to increase his speed, and he *catches MJ* so that *he* can absorb the shock of the sudden stop and cradle her so she isn't hurt by it. The soundtrack was perfect, too: it goes into this utter silence except for a ringing sound -- exactly what Peter would have been hearing as he went into adrenaline overload from the sheer terror of seeing history about to repeat itself, as the increase in pulse and blood pressure affects his hearing temporarily. Zendaya's "Are *you* okay?" was a brilliant ad-lib, too. She said that she thought that MJ, seeing the look of mixed joy and sadness on Andrew-Spidey's face, would have been moved to ask if he was alright, considering he looked overwhelmed. And he is, now. Or at least, he can see a path to where he will be.

    • I agree! He’s the most comic-accurate Spider-Man AND Peter Parker. His version in TASM is more so based on the ultimate comics, but the original 616 comics also had Peter start out as a self-isolated loner, with anger issues, who grew from being selfish into the responsible friendly neighborhood Spider-Man we see at the end of the movie. I feel like most people don’t understand is that TASM Peter finally becomes Spider-Man after he saves the kid on the bridge, not when he dons the suit for the first time. It’s a realistic arc that takes a lot of inspiration from the comics (which are the source material), and takes the entire movie to complete.

    • @@jbstudios3000 Thank you! I'm just glad there are some people that appreciate the movies, which can be hard since so many people dunk on them for not being like the Raimi movies. I really love the films, and I acknowledge they have flaws, but for me personally many of the good things in the duology outweigh the bad. The movies have a compelling Peter who is similar to the comics, a great love interest with great chemistry who actually feels like a person, and I just love the score, vfx, and cgi, as well. The TASM movies still have the best-swinging scenes from any live-action Spider-Man movie so far. I wish more people would just leave TASM fans alone and let them enjoy the movies without nitpicking the movies all the time or calling their preference wrong. Most people who don't even like the movie just do it either because it's popular to hate on them, they don't understand the movie, or they haven't read the comics (which are the source material, not the Raimi movies. I don't think many people understand this). They still unfairly judge the movies. Sorry for the rant, but I'm glad you like the movie too. Spectacular Spider-Man also rules!

  • What’s interesting is that in the first comic where Gwen died, it was the web that snapped her back, meaning that he caught her, but it still killed her. Basically there was nothing he could do. That’s what they were trying to replicate I think.
