No Way Home really felt like Spiderman's Endgame.
Yeah, i really felt that too. Now, he's completely on ZERO, like no more people or acquintance, absolutely no one. He's now ALONE. And he'll just gonna continue being the spider-man the public knows, like the same as usual. That's a BITTERsweet resolution to me for the TOM Spiderman (big emphasis on the BITTER)
@@chim__parkif you've ever read or heard of One More Day, the comic where Peter makes a deal with Mephisto to make everyone forget he's spider-man, it's pretty much this movie's plot. similar shit happens except it isn't a hard restart for NWH Peter when the deal is made, instead he knows nobody knows who he is anymore and he has to live with that knowledge. so not only is he completely alone now, but he 100% knows why and that it's his responsibility because he made the deal. he actually has the memory to learn and grow from what happened in this movie, instead of it being retconned and hes back to square one. all things considered, this Peter is taking his whole traumatic backstory relatively well. but tbh I have no idea if this was intended or not but they literally just made One More Day better.
@@PeptoAbismolI don't think there's any way of making One More Day better because it boils back to Marvel's unwilligness to have Peter Parker grow up.

I like all of these references, but something about the way Tobey's Peter almost hesitates before saying "Trying to do better" almost makes it feel like he was remembering that moment
You’re right, that’s exactly what it feels like. It’s really good subtle work by Tobey.
He doesn't hesitate rather he thinks of his answer.
And Doc smiles at that, remembering it as well.
That's good acting from Maguire
I guarantee that’s exactly what he was doing

I do think they have something like a Hero and Villain, Son and Father Moment together of How I find it.
Not really a last time. With him cured, he can go back to living normally.
Love the "trying to do better line" cause to Otto it's pretty recent, but to Peter it's been well over a decade or two, just a little look in their eyes show Peter never forgot how much Otto meant to him, and that Otto realises that Peter, although grown up, is still somewhat grappling with his dual life just not to the same extent, and that he's retained the attitude of still trying to keep going no matter what. Definitely reading into it a lot but damn, the thought of that is just AAAAAAAAA
No Way Home takes place in 2024 while Spider-Man 2 takes place in 2004, Spider-Man 1 in 2002, and Spider-Man 3 in 2005, so Peter hasn't seen Otto in 20 years, Norman in 22 years, and Flint in 19.
Everyone talks about Andrew’s redemption for Gwen’s fall but I didn’t realize the way he saved MCU MJ was a reference to how Tobey saves his MJ. Bringing all 3 partners of the 3 Peters into one single reference wow.
Giving Andrew that redemption when he caught MJ almost brought me to tears. Best scene in the entire movie.

That scene actually made Alfred Molina cry.

That scene, made me feel like Doc was talking to those who were just kids when the first spiderman movie was out
the way they handled doc ock in this movie was pure perfection. it was just such a great way to portray his character given his own progression in his movie. that scene was just fantastic. molina does an incredible job of portraying the pure fatherly love he has for peter in that moment.
The way that Andrew Garfield Spider-Man propels himself harder and catches MJ in a different way than when he tried to catch Gwen is a nice detail. The part I like the most about him saving her is the fact that it goes from him saving her to her comforting him slightly. You can clearly see he's having a moment. Like as soon as he saw her falling he got thrust into a flashback of Gwen's death.
Yea its like he finally found his peace with Gwen's death
My emotions! MY EMOTIONS!!!
@@savhoneybadger3177 peace? I don't know about that. Redemption if anything.
He didn't want the same fate to befall this universe's spiderman. Sadly, he still lost gwen anyway, but in a different way. Perhaps one that hurts even more. Forgetting she ever knew peter parker.
Instead of catching MJ with webs he decided it would be faster if he just caught her with his own hands
A fan service film that actually was an extremely well written well acted movie and finished a trilogy strong. That’s a great combination.
Andrew saving MJ literally made me cry because I KNEW he was remembering what happened with Gwen and I just KNOW when he saw her fall he had a flash back. It wrenched my heart so bad.
The Doc and Peter scene was like us talking to him. “It’s good to see you” and “you’re all grown up” made me tear up
Yeah I cried in that scene.
Alfred Molina cried too.
I feel like that was to all of us who grew up watching these films
It hurts more knowing what doc ock would've become if he didn't died.
Honestly the only thing that made me sulk in the entire movie is that, why didn't the makers spent some extra hundred thousand dollars on Tobey Maguire to digitally de-age him of a time where Spiderman 3 must have ended ?? I mean okay he's the senior one of all 3 but can't he be a bit young ??? 😔😔😔😔😔
the entire theatre went crazy when three things happened: 1. Willem Dafoe said "Y'know I'm something of a scientist myself" 2. When Tobey McGuire entered through the portal 3. When Andrew Garfield saved MJ
Tobey appearing Behind Ned was too Awesome
Same for my theater
dont forget when andrew pulled off the mask
why was mine quiet
I was screaming when daredevil appeared on the screen
Andrew couldn't save his world but he saved Tom's world. What a legend.
Andrew's peter getting a second chance to save gwen was incredible, I remember watching it in the cinema and every single person, 40 year olds, 6 year old kids, the couple who are planning to get married just like peter and gwen, everyone, everyone started crying. It was the only moment in the entire movie that they cried, just seeing them cry made me cry
They did so well with this film. I love how when Andrew saves MJ he does things differently than with Gwen too; like he dives and grabs her then webs the building rather than trying to web her directly. You can tell he's been going over and over it in his head
he actually caught her the way tobey caught MJ in part 1. as if he was meant to catch her that way instead. nice reference they made to that 4:53
That scene was Garfield's idea......KUDOS to him!
Garfield's face after he saved Zendaya's MJ!!! GOSH. I felt it.
It's a really well-done callback and a very bittersweet scene. Goes far beyond just mere fanservice.
In amazing spider man 2 , he didn't had time to grab her directly, so he used web , but the web saved her from the impact to the group, but broke her spine. I think if he used both his web shooters and webbed her both hands with each, and then tie them up and use another web to tie to himself he could have saved Her, maybe her hands will be severely damaged but she would be alive. Or better, grab her chest with one web and hip with another, that will work better, assuming her cloths were strong enough.
I’m not ashamed to admit that the moment when Peter got to redeem himself by saving MJ after being unable to save Gwen in his own universe had me in tears. One of many insanely powerful moments in No Way Home

This is the spiderman I grew up with. Glad Toby and Garfield agreed to show up for this movie. Exceeded expectations for me. It’s almost like all this had to happen because every spiderman went through a lonely period and always had sort of a tragic love thing with MJ even in the cartoons
This movie was a blast from start to finish There’s a reason why it brought people back to the movies after a two year cinema closure

Garfield saving Mj was the best scene in the movie. No words had to be said, just him being on the verge of tears said it all. Such a powerful scene that almost brought me to tears
Gwen’s death is so well done… the clock just counting down her time.. the snap at the end of her death. Gave me goosebumps!
They were also hinting at her dyeing throughout the movie. Remember the bell chime at the very first few seconds of the movie? They also spend so much of the movie developing the relationship(TASM 1 and 2) To just kill her by snapping the neck. One of the very few moments in cinematography that can actually make me cry
Man am 25 and I've always cried at that scene. That spider-man was such an emotional ride.
Andrew Garfield did an awesome job on the acting. the emotion feels real
Not to mention, no music and just silence at first and then Garfield crying
that scene is very symbolic tbh, it is a reminder of how our life can end in a snap, figuratively and still gives me goosebumps after 10 years
I don’t think a lot of people catch how Andrew Garfield switches the way he catches MJ. Instead of letting he dangle from the web he pulls her into him to protect her. It’s a nice little detail
And he also makes sure that he jumps harder so he can catch her on time. This just shows that he had always been thinking of how he could have saved Gwen that day.
It's how Tobey saved Aunt May in Spiderman 2
No. I'm pretty sure EVERYONE got that
State the obvious🤦♂️everyone got that bit🤷♂️

I think it's so cool that all the actors who have played Spiderman, as well as many of the actors in the villain roles or supporting roles, they all take so much pride in being Spiderman. Toby, Andrew, and Tom have all talked about what an honour it is to be cast as Spiderman, and how much it meant to them to be able to be that iconic hero on screen. I bet you every single actor in this movie that came from previous films jumped at the opportunity to relive their roles.
I like how they all use their villains’ real names like they’re trying to reach the person they once were. It’s such a Spider-Man thing to do
The way Andrew Garfield says "Peter Three!" while shaking his head and doing jazz hands cracks me up every single time

Normally in sequels or reboots nowadays, I usually groan or roll my eyes on a reference just to pan for fanboys, but the references here not only serve purpose for the plot and progression for Peter 2 and Peter 3, but they're just a pinch of flavor to an already good story and are just so satisfying to see be retooled while adding a twist to them. The whole back thing with Tobey was also a reference to his back issues that made filming with him troublesome from the original trilogy; he tried getting his doctor on-set to help with his back, which would create a bunch of schedule issues if I remember correctly
It was Tobey trying to get more money or something. It was probably something his agent told him to do because after Sony and Tobey settled things Tobey fired the agent. Sony made him get a physical for his back to make sure that he was, in fact, embellishing.
@@GrandpaBaner if you run a quick search of it on Google, you can find several accounts from Raimi and others about the complications from it. It wasn't embellishment, and I'm pretty sure it caused some issues with other films he did

@@GrandpaBaner he wanted to act, but if he re-injured his back it would drastically make things worse for him. In order for him to make sure he was doing fine, he wanted his doctor on-set for when he finished any scene that might put him at-risk. @@SciffyTheJiffy I gotchu... we'll never know. I don't think Tobey was being nefarious... but it's Hollywood.
The thing about this movie is, that it does everything that all the other big franchises did before. You've got reboots and crossovers and nostalgia fan service trips out the wazoo in stuff like Indiana Jones, star wars, jurassic park, you name it. If it was a Hollywood blockbuster, it's got a remake that tried to revive it. What puts no way home apart, is that despite the corniness, clichés, fan service and being predictable and formulaeic, it works. It just works. Not once did I roll my eyes. I smiled, shouted and cried the entire time. It was everything I wanted, just the way I wanted it. It felt like somebody wrote this movie for me. Exactly for me. It was truly incredible.
One last thing I wish they had done, at the very end of the movie, when Tom Holland (Peter) is putting his box of items down in his new apt. a voice behind him at the door says "rent" and it's Mr. Ditkovich.
This movie is like 80% nostalgia but that’s why I love it. It simultaneously pays tribute to all of the other Spider-Mans (Spider-Men?), while giving Tom Holland a proper origin story. Have to admit, No Way Home seems like one of those lighting-strike moments in film where everything comes together. To take three difference interpretations of the franchise, bring them all together along with their different stories and give resolution to each of them was amazing to watch. This movie was a nostalgia trip. Growing up with the OG trilogy after not seeing all these dudes after 10 plus year felt really surreal. Always wanted to see them again even for brief cameos but this hit me in my childhood feels.
Agreed, though I was already an adult in 2002. I was worried that with so many characters, some of them would be relegated to mere cameos (and some were by necessity), but they did a fantastic job giving nearly everyone a fair amount of screen time.
Norman aka Green Goblin did appear in the sequels after his death in the first movie. The first reappearance was as a hallucination in the mirror that Harry is looking at in Spider-Man 2 in which Norman yells at him to avenge his death, and then again in the 3rd movie to make Harry remember who he is (after losing his memories from almost trying to kill Peter).
I didn't see much of the OG trilogy, but they were definitely my favorite parts of No Way Home. Something about the Goblin Laugh, and the Goblin Voice in general, hits different from anything else.
gotta say, the MJ falling scene with Andrew freaking out cuz he actually caught her, got me good 😢
Tobeys Spider-Man will forever be the best and no one is telling me otherwise
Wow, the parallells of Peter and Norman both trying to give up on their respective lives as Spider-Man and the Green Goblin in an alleyway and leaving their masks by the dumpster was pretty brilliant...especially since in the end, neither of them could truly walk away from who they were no matter how much they tried.
Indeed
That is quite literally taken straight from the comic pages. That Spider-man suit in a trashcan is a super famous cover and there was a mirror version of that of Norman throwing his Goblin suit in the trash. So it's all one big chain of references.
Remember, Norman was an absolute psychopath in the comics. He was responsible for major disasters in the comics.
"You and I are not so different."
Pain
Idk why but the clip of Peter in Spider-Man 2 saying “my back!” Got me laughing so hard. I was really convinced he was in pain.
Sometimes I like to imagine he actually hurt his back there and Raimi just kept the film rolling
he actually had back issues apparently
He got both back issues and in the film he falls from a 5m or so tall building to a car. So yeah, the pain is real, I guess
like doom said, Toby actually tried to get out of spider man 2 and 3 due to a bad back but they paid him more both times and he shut up. i thought they put that back thing in the new one as a joke, like a way for everyone including sony to clear the air a little as Toby and sony didnt have a very good relationship. some say the injury is what caused Toby to become an alcoholic and quit acting for a profession in poker.
Why did KZhead ask me if I found this comment entertaining lmao?
Tobey Maguire will always be my Spider Man!! Grew up watching him as Spiderman and his portrayal of the character was phenomenal and brilliant!! But I love Andrew Garfield as Spidey too!! But I haven't seen not a single Tom Holland Spiderman but will definitely watch No way Home after watching this video..
I'm curious. Watta ya say? How did 'baby Parker', Tom Holland, do?😊 I'm also from the Tobey generation, btw.
Otto and his peter bonding is so heart warming
Andrew Garfield is BRILLIANT in the scene where he catches Zendaya. You felt his emotion so strongly its crazy!
100%! Andrew is and will be the best Spiderman ever in my opinion. Closely followed by the too quirky Holland and Tobey far back on the last place.

Brilliant, but lazy.
Andrew’s Spider-Man saving MJ will never not make me tear up I watched it on release day in a packed theater and everyone held their breath when she fell, a gradual tension rising, some let go when Tom’s Spider-Man nearly caught her, the rest of us knew better All of a sudden you hear Goblins laugh and the place erupts with gasps “NOO” “omg omg” etc etc as he stops Peter 1 The camera cuts to Garfield and him jumping, a slow rising cheer comes from the crowd until a roar of approval as he saves the day The scene itself is so beautiful but that theater experience will always make it somehow better for me
Was this in an American cinema/movie theatre? Is yelling common there?
@@Screen_Shorts yes it was an American theater and depending on the movie and the crowd, some yell and get into it, others are silent
@@Screen_Shorts it's not "normal" but on the release date of a movie this big, people are usually super fans. They get pretty into it.
That reminds me of Endgame when Cap caught Mjolnir… our theatre went NUTS!!
yes!!! I also went with friends the day it released in my country (two of my siblings also went, same day same location, different showings) and the audience reaction for all our experiences was basically as you described it
After watching this film twice in the theaters and multiple times on Blu-Ray.....I'm still geeking out about how truly incredible this film is! I'm in awe and tears of happiness! Seeing all 3 Spideys together and so much more, it just makes me smile so freaking much! Keep up the awesome work! This video is indeed Amazing!! *Pun-intended!*
Best part of the whole movie - total redemption of Doc Octavius. Sure the machine killed all those poor doctors and nurses, but he was unconscious. I was even more happy for Peter to see his idol and teacher back to his normal self (they will probably kick some serious ass in their universe)
I know having the 3 peters is great but I also appreciate how solid Green Goblin/Willem Dafoe carried the Sinister Six there... He was a beast in this movie and no one will be able to play Goblin so good as him... OG Goblin Sr. LMAO . . P.s. This is why I love Spidey's fanbase... There's no strong bias comment and no toxic, this just proves how NWH is a great masterpiece! How u all have a great day 💯
We all do bro
It's sinister 5 ngl lol
@@TheThapasumit The tree duh 🙄
I completely agree with you. For me personally, Willem DaFoe’s Green Goblin was amazing. As awesome as it was seeing all 3 Spider-Mans together in one film, I gotta say, Willem DaFoe stole every scene he was in. He’s just too perfect as the Green Goblin. With that being said, I seriously hope that’s not the last time we see him. I know he was quote unquote “Cured” but it would be a damn shame to not have DaFoe return as the Goblin in a future movie.
The part where Tom's spidey senses go into panic mode and you have no idea what's going on until finally he focuses on Willem Dafoe who then reveals the Goblin personality switch.. that was pretty friggin' awesome... That scene was tense, creepy and down right disturbing Lol.
I also realized that Tobey called Andrew Amazing. Seeing how Andrew is the Amazing Spider-Man
That one was neat too! I actually did a separate video around that scene which includes the “amazing” reference: kzhead.info/sun/g86jmd2AjndsgJs/bejne.html
Something I was thinking too is that when Tobey’s Spider-Man told Andrew’s Spider-Man the he’s amazing, it wasn’t just Peter talking to Peter. It was Tobey talking to Andrew. Because as we all know when Sony announced that instead of doing a 4th Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire, and rebooting and recasting Spider-Man, that people weren’t too happy about the decision. Up until before No Way Home was released, it seemed Andrew had little to no fans of his take on Spider-Man. Now all of a sudden, it seems there are more people who love his Spider-Man.
@@bugzkilla it's not a reference to a part in a film, but Andrew referring to it as "no big deal" to cure the lizard is a reference to the Sony email leaks.
@@optimusprime595 Well yeah, to be fair it wasn't his take at all, it was SONY's take to ''modernize'' Spider-man (wich even after NWH i still think that idea sucks), Andrew just worked with what he was given, so it really wasn't his fault that his Spider-man universe was pretty wack, but i think people now like him not because of his Spider-man, but because of HIM, and i think he deserves that praise, he's always been a really good person and an amazing actor
@@lamp6121 even though the villains were meh, Andrew was the best Spider-man (following the comics accurately). He was a hero before getting his powers, but he was also a teen who craved power to show off and be famous. The moment he gets them, he changes into an asshole teen, and he starts doing whatever he wants. He learns he's wrong and being terrible when Ben dies, and starts to change, to realize what being Spider-man means. And in the three of them, Andrew+Emma were the best couple, they just had the best time together, which only made it worse to watch when she dies, you feel Andrew's emotions at that moment because you know exactly how much he loved her! It's really brilliant!!
Rip to all the people who seen all 3 Spidermen individually in their own movies, but never got to see them together like this…
04:19 Actually, the reference is to a what if comic that recounted the death of Gwen Stacy in a different way. Instead of trying to save Gwen by throwing a web (as in TASM 2), Peter would lunge at her to save her, something he does. This comic is reflected in NWH, because Andrew does not repeat the mistake of launching a web, this time he launches to save MJ and succeeds.
Funny enough, at the end of the movie when Peter goes to see MJ and Ned after their memories are wiped, MJ waves to Peter when he enters the shop, only for Peter to realize she was waving at Ned behind him. Same thing that happened to Peter 2 in Spidey 1 when going to school and MJ waves to her friend behind Peter 2.

Andrew petter saving MJ was the best part of that movie for me, he got a do over and you could tell he had thought up a million other ways he could have saved her. It all shows on his face.
In the comics he has literally said that he has played it over and over in his head to figure out how to make it work!
@@alexanderson6465 In which it makes it even more heartbreaking. TASM was so sad when it came to deaths, It made you connected with the actors/characters when one dies such as Gwen. I cried when I first seen it and now that am 25 it still tears me up.

I've seen an edit of that scene where the Amazing Spiderman theme played over the catch, and honestly it's great.
I loved it. Him not being able to save Gwen but being able to save MJ, you could see the emotion playing over his face. There was still sadness but I think..well not happiness but relief.
the "from great power comes great responsibility" is always the cheesiest part of the franchise, but in this scene I realized that all the people that mentioned it to Spider men are dead. When other peters complete the sentence becomes a tear jerking scene instantly. Enough to make a grown man cry.
Also for Tom's spider all 3 movies is actually hes Origin story.
This movie made me cry in ways I didn't think were still possible. It's still nice to feel invested in legacy characters, especially when it doesn't feel like a cheap cash grab.

Great comment.
This movie *NWH* is kind of a *Love Letter* to all Spiderman fans out there
I think the ending where Peter moves into his new apartment is also a bit of a small reference to the intro of the Insomniac game, with the phone radio tracker especially. Good video!
Thanks! I might do a part 2 with some of the smaller references I missed.
i think it's also a nod to Peter's first appearance in the MCU where he comes *home* from school and is greeted by Aunt May. The difference is that in his last appearance, May is no longer with him.
NGL, i was hoping for a MR Ditkovich cameo then.
@@fettbub9289 @Jasperion You'll get your Aunt May wheN YOU FIX THIS DAMN DOOR!
@@fettbub9289 I was honestly waiting for that to happen. Like...it'd be him but not him. Maybe the door knob falls off and he's like "I gotta fix that.." like, he's less of a miser than the Raimi universe one. The apartment even looked a little like the one from the Raimi movies just bigger..
Imagine having a moment with yourself almost 20, 30 and 40. For those of us that were 20s for the first movies, it was like looking at a mirror of your past lives and thinking where the years went. Very nostalgic and great concept.
Absolutely correct. I was in my 20s when Raimi's trilogy came. This movie was great in all aspects but one thing that made me sulk was, Why the makers didn't spent some extra hundred thousand dollars to digitally de-age Tobey Maguire to a time where Spiderman 3 had just ended. I mean okay, he's the senior of them all but can't he be young ?? I'm 30+ now & when I look back.... I just.... Never Mind.....
@@ratha_bhabatoshTobey didn't want to be de-aged with CGI. He wanted his Peter Parker to be more mature and all grown up, and he wanted his Peter Parker to have lived a life after the Raimi movies
